great expectations--thorough disappointment! we chose floor center for the specific solid hardwood floor they were going to supply us, and that Steve sounded knowledgeable and less sleazy than many of the other floor places we checked out. We had a reasonable but specific schedule, 8 weeks--trying to get the final floor installed before we moved in--affected the rent we were paying to live outside the house while work was being done. Well, the floor delivery dates kept shifting and Steve was NOT proactive in informing me of status or getting the original flooring delivered. he was not proactive with the manufacturer--he didn't really know what was going on with the floor supply until way too late. It turned out the flooring was never coming and Steve did NOT have a plan B -- further delays and really bad attitude on his part. We wanted solid floor, but he kept pushing engineered on us to make our deadline as a result of his painting us in a corner with the schedule! He acted like he was a victim and yelled at me several times--really made a bad situation worse and totally uncalled for!! That was the worst of it, but also be aware you cannot trust steve--his story keeps changing. examples: 1.I told him about our strict schedule and he told me all his flooring is supplied locally so floor should be available within 1 week of order--only when we had problem with delivery dates missed did he inform me that this particular floor was coming from out east... 2. Paperwork/contract--was painful getting him to specify line items--timing, cost for labor, cost for floor, exact square footage, etc. Lots of back and forth to get the specifics. Then we wanted to save some money by doing some demo ourselves. We were told it would save us $1000. After we did the work, he gave us a $350 discount! We agreed on a payment plan, signed the contract: $1000 down, $1000 upon floor delivery, balance upon completion of install. After signing the contract, I was verbally informed that we needed to pay $10,000 not $1,000 upon floor delivery--he literally blamed the missing zero error on "the girl" in the office. 3. He told us part of the install included putting the door plinths back on, but the final day of install he actualy yelled at me about my having his workers do work that we weren't paying for?!? 4. Several times we revisited the schedule...Steve kept telling me we only needed 1-2 days for the solid hardwood to sit in the house before beginning install--this flew in the face of what everyone else told me--3-5 days for the solid hardwood to sit in the housed to acclimate before install. I had to keep pushing back on steve with this point. 5.We ended up revising the contract: had him do floor demo and floor install only. At the 11th hour because steve managed this project so poorly, We ended up supplying the floor ourselves from another supplier: locally supplied, delivered within a few days. 6. Finally, more that one occasion when problems arose, Steve expressed his concern about "making money on this job" (he actually said these words to me), not any concern about customer service/satisfaction! In comparison, in july 2010 i had tile flooring installed: the tile supplier and tile installers did not give me any of these issues. In fact, when the tile delivery date slipped, the tile supplier jumped into action to ensure the delivery came in for the date I arranged with the tile installers! Bottom-line, steve is not "on top" of the job at any point in the project, doesn't care about customer satisfaction and when things go wrong on his end, he reacts inappropriately to you the customer! He also is NOT the cheapest--I thought the premium price was for quality and experience but proved to be just a premium for a lot of aggravation. Go elsewhere for you flooring supply and for your flooring install.

I had a great experience with the Floor Center. Their professional staff helped me choose the best carpet for my price range in the colors I wanted. They even let me bring the book to my new house so that I could see which colors really worked where. Their team of installers were very polite & professional. We have a floating stair case to the second floor that was a bit of a challenge so they brought in their stair specialist who did an amazing job. The quality of our carpet is great & the colors are so beautiful. They really made our house our home.

It went very very well. They were extremely professional and showed up on time. They were neat and clean. They were also friendly and were non smokers. They cleaned up after the work was done. They came back and did a couple of minor adjustments which they did gladly. I am very pleased with their work and I would definitely use them again.

Steve was great and very upfront and knowledgeable on carpet. Other companies I received estimates from focused more on the promotions such as free install, no tax or free carpet for rooms. In the end, The Floor Center was either the same price or lower than the other quotes. I person came to install the carpet. He was very professional, explained what would be involved in the installation and cleaned up before leaving.

Initial installation was ok. Carpet starting pulling away from the wall after about 6 months in the one room and eventually pulled away from the wall in the rest of the rooms as well, causing bubbling of the carpet. I tried to get them to come back and repair, was willing to pay for it given the time frame, but they said on three occasions that they would call me back to book a time and never called back. At this point I will have to find someone else to fix their work.

The carpet installation looks beautiful! The Floor Center has a great selection of carpet styles at very competitive prices. William was very helpful with picking a high quality carpet that fit my budget. He was very accommodating when he came out to measure the square footage - making sure he met my scheduling requirements. The only issue I had with The Floor Center was that the installer was an hour late on the morning he was scheduled to install the carpet. But, he did call that morning to let me know that he was running late. He worked very quickly and did a great job installing the carpet. I would definitely recommend The Floor Center to anyone looking to have carpeting installed.

We have been using The Floor Center for over 20 years, starting when their staff was working at Fellows in Burbank. We have used them for our personal residence hardwood and carpeting and for our apartment building carpeting and vinyl flooring. The quality of their workmanship has always been excellent, they are prompt and professional. We recommend them without hesitation!

The were punctual, professional and did an excellent job. The guys even did some above-and-beyond work on their own to ensure that the job was done right.

It was great from start to finish! The price was fair, William @ the store was so helpful. We did not want to spend a ton of money as it was just for our condo that we were going to rent out, but we found a beautiful tile and he even added a thicker padding at no extra cost for under the carpeting. Installation was unbelieveable. The installers did not take shortcuts, they paid so much attention to detail. They had a tough job as the hallway, downstairs bath and kitchen are not very big. The job needed a lot of planning out and a ton of cutting since I chose to have it laid on the diagonal. The job was beautiful-done right-the only negative was that the installer smoked and would leave to take smoking breaks then come back in smelling of smoke, yuck. The carpeters did a good job as well, in the process they cracked a tile, but I called and they promptly came back to replace the tile. They even left me with the left over carpet remnants and a few boxes of tile.

Everything was done as scheduled. The workers were pleasant and professional. I was very pleased with the final outcome.

They were not sure. They were punctual. They gave me the information that they could.

a couple problems with the wood that had nothing to do with this company...they had a quick response to this issue and we wonderful to deal with.

Steve recommended replacing since I said I was going to be living there a long time. The quote seemed high. The estimated completion time was 1.5 weeks. I got a better deal from a smaller vendor in my town that charged for the same oak floor size, color, base board, and work at $3200 less, and they ended up doing the work in 4 working days. A few small gripes about the second vendor, but overall was glad I saved money and can direct it at other home work.

We looked at a huge library of carpet samples; from those, we culled a couple of good possibilities. They allowed us to take a small sample booklet home, and we found one that we loved -- just what we had envisioned. Since the sample was tiny, they volunteered to order a larger sample from the manufacturer. When we went back to Burbank about two weeks later to pick it up, what was waiting for us had nothing to do with the original sample: it was brown and blue rather than creamy beige, wrong style, wrong everything. They said they would call the manufacturer to iron it out, and have the correct sample sent directly to our home. Several weeks later, it had still not arrived; when we called the Floor Center, they said they couldn't figure out which one we wanted -- although they had the original sample we had chosen in the store, and the manufacturer shows a sample on its website. They had never called us back to follow up. We love the carpet -- and it's quite expensive, so it would have been a lucrative sale -- but we are utterly frustrated with this process and no longer trust them. We told them so when we returned their sample booklet to them, and have put the project on hold for now. I may not have originally told them I got their name from Angie's List, or we may have had a different experience from the outset.

This is an 82-year old house with flooring that had suffered decades of neglect. The wood flooring looked almost black. After the floors were sanded down to bare wood, the gentleman who would be doing the staining took a great deal of time to help us decide on the proper stain. He marked off sections of the floor and let us sample eight different shades to make sure we would be happy with the result. We were more than pleased with the result -- the floors look beautiful. Carpet and tile installation went smoothly and again, we were very happy with our choices. We were glad to have chosen The Floor Center for this project.

They arrived when scheduled, did a great job, and finished even earlier than estimated. Excellent care taken with my furniture/walls etc. and complete clean up at end of job.

They were wonderful. They did a really good job. They were really fast. They were great bunch of people. It was a good experience considering flooring projects are not an easy thing to live through.

The employees were very good about showing me my options and giving me time to weigh everything. The employees were very helpful. I felt good about having the installers in my home. I have been very satisfied with the service I received. It was a very good experience.

It was a very good experience all around. They were very helpful when I was trying to choose and they gave me plenty of time to look around and weigh my options. They worked with me in finding a day which was convenient for me, for them to come out and do the installation. The installation was expert. All of the employees I interacted with were very good. I would give them A's all around. I have been totally pleased with their service.

I have dealt with them in the past and have gone in and asked questions. They were always very helpful and I really like dealing with them. The carpeting they did was like a dream. They had a real carpet layer and he did an excellent job. It was like a work of art.

On time for estimate meeting and prompt response with the quote. Materials ordered quickly. Installers on time and very professional. Very clean job, finished right on time. The baseboard was a bit nicer than I expected, but there was no extra charge. All in all a very pleasant experience

What knocked me out was that I went there and William recommended someone else that might do it for cheaper, but they didn't have the color that I wanted. Their quality is very good. It took a very long time and we didn't like that, but I like the ultimate work. It is possible that he is just extremely thorough.

Steve came to the townhouse exactly on time to measure the place. He also suggested the best carpet for the job (the townhouse is a rental) and he was spot-on. William was helpful all the way through the process. Ralph and Eddie showed up exactly when they said they would. It took about 1-1/4 days to complete the entire job. Special thanks to Ralph who kept me consistently up to date on arrival times and how the job was going. The installation went without a hitch and they did a fantastic job.

Went to show room and felt we were talking with people who really knew what they were talking about! We were able to schedule when it was convenient for us and the work was done in a timely way-took about 3 days longer, but this was due to the condition of the under-flooring that needed repair, couldn't have known till old flooring was removed.

The price quoted was very high. Also, when I received the bid/estimate, The Floor Center asked for 1/2 down on the carpeting project, and 1/3/ down on the ceramic tile and vinyl floor project. This violates California State law for licensed contractors. "Licensed contractors" in the State of California are ONLY allowed to ask for 10% down, or $1,000, whichever is LESS. When I pointed this out to the employee, he changed the estimate. However, if the store had been honest, they wouldn't have tried to deceive me the first time around. I was disgusted.
