I worked as a sales rep for directv and quit as soon as I was told to lie and scam innocent people.
Description of Work: directv was a total LIE!! as sales persons, we are trained to lie to tell you its free, get yourcredit card number (if we do not gain this info we are wrote up and loose pay) tell you its just a 1.00 to start, but they charge 299.00..once its charged, who cares, we get credit for the sale...this is why I quit!! they dont even give their sales reps a break on fees..they send out flyers all over and tell us if we get a call from the southern states dont answer are put them on hold untill they hang up but do not exceed 14 minutes or yur hold time would go up, and once again if it did we would get wrote up or loose pay... the reason being southern means you have sorry credit and we dont want to dea with them..we want the old grannys and lonely people with lots of money and good credit...in the flyer it DOES state that these low low low prices are for qualified new customers..code for (GOOD CREDIT) ..but on the other hand they do NOT say the low low ow prices are for the smallest package and includeds only one channel that anyone has ever heard of. and my favorite is the the free equipment upgrades...nooooo your paying 5.00 extra a month,they call this a viewing monthly fee... for them and worse yet they never get paid for..its lifetime of your account....so as a ex-sales rep please please do not deal with directv they are trained, skilled liers that make a living on saying anything you want to hear with a litte truth to get our money ..please stay away shop around and please if its sounds to good to be true, it is......

I had direct tv service for abpout a yuar and a half before I had to disconnect my services due to a reduction in my income. I sent in the equipment after my service was disconnected, however, although you can NOT order PPV movies with your device without a land line phone connection, I was charged 80.00 in fees because the company says that they "found" the orders on my device. My device was returned in Sept. 2011, STILL Direct charged my credit card $500.00 for unreturned equipment. Although I have an email confirnmation stating the equipment was received, AND a hard copy statement billing reflecting the company owes me 237.60,as of today 2/18/12, I spent in excess of 45 minuets on the phone AGAIN with the comp-any tring to determine when I MIGHJT receive the refund of the monies due to me, I have spoken with multile associates tjere, Shandicia, Denise and multiple supervisores, Jonathan and Eron, I have thjeir employee ID numbers and t s and times I spoke with them, and still yet, I am being told, after 5 ,months, AND having the refund due in writing, that I can file a formal complaint about the monies STILL due to be refunded to me. Is this a legal action? Can a company just simply NOT refund you monies that they owe you? Am I not entitled to some interest on my monies they have been holding? Is the American consumer really just simpley at the mercy of corporate inteties with no recource?

They really have false advertising actually. We get these fires in the mail constantly about their prices and nowhere on those has it said that it's only for one TV. It says the whole house and it's very deceiving. I don't know how their service is yet because it hasn't been installed. They are the only ones in our area. I think they advertise falsely.

They told us that we would have to pay a $200 fee up front before they would start the service. I told them not to take it out of the account until I got everything in writing from them, but they took it anyway. After that they offered me a special rate (a referral rate) for 10 months, but I have never actually received that rate from them. I paid them what they told me I would be paying when the service was started, but after 4 months they stopped my service. They also have not returned the initial $200 payment.

I had the worst customer service with Directv .They had been my t.v. satellite provider for years. I decided to switch to a less expensive provider that offered free HD, which Directv charges for every television in your home.. When I called Directv to have my service discontinued, I find I have an "early" cancellation fee, which was $100.00!!! Incredible! Early??? Really??? But, wait, there is more. I discovered yesterday, that they had debited my checking account for the 100.00, plus the final month's fees. No email, no text, no forewarning of this debit, whatsoever! I was outraged, and felt violated. To do such a thing as to debit your private checking account with not so much as an email, let alone the fact they can just reach into my bank account whenever the mood strikes, at their whim...I just can't believe it! When I phoned to give them my slant on their practices, the fellow I spoke with was nice enough, but held firm on their right to debit my account....I complained a lot, but, it fell on deaf ears. So, please let this post at least offer a "heads up" to those out there who might benefit by my experience by not choosing Directv. The representative told me that the "debiting" clause was in the terms & conditions of the contract, something that happened so many years ago and was in such fine print....but then, who'd of thought such a thing would even be in the clause in the first place. So, if you're going with Directv, that's your choice, but my new provider is great, I've saved money,, and they won't steal from my bank account. Another "thing" that bothered me was the fact they didn't seem to care about losing my business. The rep I spoke with was rehearsed, and also the fact after so many years with Directv, they never once asked why I was leaving, or offered to be competitive in order to get me to stay with them.

the techs that have come out have been great but the service every single time that I have had to call has been awful! BTW they dont have free moving until you have had the service over 2 years and if you move more than once a year its over 200.00 to move everything.
