Custom Cabinet shop with two employees. No subcontractors connected to company. But referrals available. Free estimates. Foll service From concept to completion.
I had a genuinely terrible experience with Bill Newkirk. I wish there were repercussions for his half-completion of our cabinets, but all I have is an Angie's List review to try to warn others to avoid him. It's shocking to have such an unprofessional subcontractor, poorly constructed and even more poorly installed cabinets, that are incomplete. He was recommended by my architect, and believe me when I say I will never take a recommendation from this architect ever again after Bill Newkirk. From start to finish, Bill made me uncomfortable with his mannerisms and tone when speaking - like he couldn't actually process what I was saying or he was incapable of listening as I carefully pointed out a half dozen issues with his work that I was hoping would be ironed out. There are areas along the cabinet doors that are damaged. I pointed this out immediately, and Bill's response was he would fix the paint/touch up. He did not. Along the ceiling of our kitchen uppers, there is 2.5" of calking to fill the gap from his poorly measured and installed filler. It becomes uneven when it meets the corner of the cabinets which have a side panel with .25" calking between the panel and the ceiling. We asked for this to be corrected because it looks terrible. It was not corrected. The gap between the filler, side panels and cabinet doors should be the same size, right? Not on our cabinets. They are extremely uneven, and in some places the doors are too large and touch each other making it difficult to open/close without dealing with them getting stuck on each other. I pointed this out to Bill, he did not fix it. The cabinets were supposed to come with under cabinet lighting - do I have to keep saying what happened or can you guess? They did not have under-cabinet lighting. Bill did some sort of half-*** trim underneath with no lighting with an exposed edge that I don't even understand how an honest person could walk away from without fixing in some way. Bill had promised to come back with the panels for under-cabinet lights routed and ready to install. And you guessed right - he did not come back. In fact, he's ghosted for 3 months. I owe him the final payment, and he owes me finished cabinets. It looks like neither of us will get either of those things, but it will certainly cost more than the final payment to rip these cabinets out and throw them into the trash where they belong. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

He came up and measured and agreed to do it. He built it and installed it in the bathroom. I draw out what I wanted and he took it and built it for me.
