Everyone from Modern Roofing was efficient and professional. The attention to detail and thorough inspections and estimations made by Mike Donnell in the original contact were helpful and reassuring. After estimates from seven companies, I chose Modern Roofing and felt that I was in good hands. Their price was in the medium range, not the highest or the lowest. The job was estimated to take three days and was completed on time. On the first day the tear down team arrived promptly and worked throughout the day. At the conclusion they swept the yard and did a meticulous clean up job. On the second day, the roofing team started to prepare the foundation of the new roof. Again, they arrived promptly and worked all day. Finally on the third day, they installed the shingles and finished applying the finishing touches. Both the tear down team and the roofing team conducted themselves professionally and with consideration toward the rest of the property and the neighbors. Each day, Anna or Elba would call from the office to see if we had any questions or concerns. Five days after the job was finished the final inspector for the City finally arrived. He told me that he was really impressed with the quality of the workmanship.

Everything went well. They provided a detailed estimate, were very professional, and did a good job with the installation.

Everything went well. The work and the service were good, but I disliked the extended delays. It just seemed like I was a low priority.

Overall we were extremely pleased with every aspect of the project. The work was done on-budget and in less time than originally estimated. The sales process was helpful and informative. All workmen were careful and professional at all times. Work started promptly each day at the appointed time with careful attention to not making excessive noise before 8:00am. When an unforseen problem arose the project manager and office staff were responsive and helpful in quickly resolving the issue. Sales personnel also interacted with our insurance adjustor to clarify issues of concern regarding cost and availability of materials (our old roofing material is no longer being made). We would gladly hire Modern Roofing again and recommend them highly.

Came on time. Looked at everything. Did some minor repairs with no problems or hassles.

Mike, from Modern Roofing called in advance to say he was about 25 minutes away from my home, which meant he was going to arrive right on time. They actually quoted me a 1 hour window (nice!), but Mike showed up at the beginning of the window. Mike got up on the roof and looked at the trouble spots and gave me a run-down of the status of my roof. He assured me that I had about 15 years of life left on my roof and told me that the minor leaks I was having could be fixed by a handy man. It was so refreshing to get an an honest answer, rather than have someone sell me something I didn't need! If you're looking for a company you can trust to give you straightforward and truthful answers, I would highly recommend Mike from Modern Roofing!

The estimator arrived close to the time promised and was generous with his helpful advice. The company's minimum bid policy (about $1300.00, I believe) put them out of the 'running' for this job, and I was encouraged to go ahead and do the work myself.

They came as scheduled, but offered only a complete re-roofing. No lower-cost repair options were proposed. I did not use them.

The person doing the estimate joked about not wanting to go on the roof, though we called for roof repair. He never stepped foot on the roof--he set up his ladder and looked at the roof, but was still about 30 feet from where the possible leak was coming in. Then he gave us an estimate on two different repair scenarios. What made this very disappointing, aside from his ambivalence to even go on the roof, was that we got a second estimate from a roofing company who told us that it wasn't a roof problem. In the end, we had an HVAC person come out who repaired the duct causing the leak in 20 minutes.

They did a fantastic job. They were clean and very fast.

From the initial phone call, to the estimate, scheduling, final work, and the follow up phone call, this company is a leader in customer service and satisfaction. It's the Nordstrom and Disney of roofing companies. I couldn't be happier.

Mike Donnell showed up on time with all necessary equipment, and checked our roof for problems. As provided in the Deal, he patched (applied roof cement to) numerous vents and other roof penetrations. Apparently, he took care of at least seven or eight of these items, although the Deal specified a max of four. No extra charge for this, and thankfully (but as expected) our roof turned out to not require any other work. Mike was very friendly and knowledgeable, and it was nice that he did a little extra beyond specifically what the Deal specified. I would definitely call him again for future roofing needs.

The work with Modern Roofing started off very positive and steadily declined to me cancelling all work with them. I originally called Modern Roofing and scheduled an estimate for Sat, Oct 1st. Ernie came out and seemed very professional, likable, and knowledgeable. Despite getting other estimates for less cost, I thought that I would go with Modern because of this great first impression. Ernie told me it would cost $950. He said he would send me a written estimate "first thing Monday." Mon, Oct 3rd came and went with no estimate sent from Ernie. I called again on Tues, Oct 4th and asked him about it. He then sent an estimate. I guess he forgot. When I received the written estimate, the price had gone up to $1050. Also, it was missing a couple items we spoke about. Still, it seemed to be professionally drawn up and looked good. I didn't mind paying more if it meant quality, conscientious work. After some back and forth, communication started to get harder. Many of my calls when unanswered. I finally got the contract for work on Mon, Oct 10th. It was still missing a few things but I amended it. These were really minor things and after talking to Ernie, it didn't seem to be a problem. I sent the contract back with a credit card deposit on Wed, Oct 12th. This is where everything breaks down. After this, I never got a single return call from Modern Roofing! They told me they would schedule work once receiving my deposit, but this never happened. I called Ernie, I called the office, I spoke to people....when I actually got someone on the phone, they all were very apologetic and promised to take care of it. No luck. They all promised to call me back, but they never did. I talked to Ernie one last time and he was quite curt on the phone. It seemed out of character. Maybe something else was going on, I have no idea. But he said someone from the office would call me in the next five minutes. That was over 24 hours ago. At this point, I gave up. I'm not going to beg someone to take my money. Today, Tues, Oct 18th I cancelled the service with Modern Roofing and went with another company. I don't see how a company can do good work if their customer service is this bad. Seemed like a red flag to me. It's been nearly 3 weeks since my estimate and I still have no idea when the work would be done! It's already rained once in that time and further damaged my house. How long am I supposed to wait? And let's assume they did do the work, and something went wrong? Or my roof still leaked? Then where would I be? If they don't return calls when you're trying to pay them money, is it wise to expect them to return calls when something goes wrong? I'd rather not find out.

We used the Angie's List Coupon for roofing service offered by Modern Roofing. We couldn't be more pleased with the value and service we received. Modern Roofing was proactive in contacting us about our coupon and scheduling an appointment. Selene was easy and responsive with all communication. The roofer showed up on time and fixed several roof issues we had. He worked quickly and called the next day to report on what he saw on our roof. He did not try and upsell me at all and said to give him a call in a few years when our roof may need additional service. I have used several roofers over the years to fully replace our roof or do some smaller patch jobs. None of them were as professional as the team at Modern Roofing. We will definitely use them again.

The office person was very polite and positive. Mike came out promptly and looked at the roof. No estimate came in the mail. I called the office person and she gave me Mike's number. I called him and he gave me a verbal estimate. I asked for a written estimate. Nothing came. I called the person in the office. She said she'd follow up with Mike. She sent him an e-mail and copied me. No estimate came. I'm moving on.

Overall experience went very well. Only negative was that roofer was supposed to show up before 9:30 a.m. and no one called me from office to tell me scheduled had changed. When I called, office said he would arrive after 1:00 pm but he showed up at 12:00 pm.

They had wonderful service. They did a great job. They were on time and did everything they said they were going to do.

One person in the office 'alba' was professional and returned phone call. The rest of the staff, the guy who tarped the roof, the person who came the next week to quots the repair, the "office manager" i talked to on the phone and the "Main guy" who came out to quote the entire roof were all - every one of them - unprofessional, late, non - responsive. A massive disappointment because they had such a high rating.

I spent $4000 on that work. They were very prompt in coming out and told me exactly what they were going to do. They were very thorough and efficient. They did what they said they were going to do and did it very well. I was happy. They took out a few satellite dishes and fixed them back too. I was happy with their work.

They sent someone out to give me an estimate. My interaction with him was great. He seemed knowledgeable, but I don’t know since I am not a roofer. We had a contractor that we were having problems with and I wanted to see as to how much it would cost if I had to hire somebody else. So, they knew what they were doing. He was timely and came on time. He was professional and friendly. The way he did the roof and the way the roof ultimately got done wasn’t the same. My interaction with them was nice, but they were very pricey. They took a couple of days to respond. They actually came early as well. The estimator called me an hour and a half early to see if he could come in the meantime, which was fine and it worked out. If I wasn’t flexible, then he would have tried to change his appointment or he would have canceled on me.

Gamaiel came out to give an estimate at the scheduled time. He brought examples of the different products that would be used for the job. He was professional and knowledgeable. Everyone I dealt with-in the office or the men doing the work- was professional. The workmen worked quickly but thoroughly and cleaned up at the end of each day.

They were really nice and very professional. The price changed on me when they discovered the fourth layer of shingle. It only looked like 3, until further inspection. The price went up a little, but not too bad. The only other thing of significance was that when the job was done, there was a fair amount of debris in the attic. When I notified them, they sent a guy out promptly to clean it up. They did the best job of any roofer that I have had before.

Did not show up on day of appointment or any decency to call me that the guy who will give me an estimate cannot make it. Waited all day. Bad business practice.

I have three concerns about Modern Roofing. 1.) after the estimator came out (he was fast and capable) it took almost a month for the company to schedule the repair); 2.) the roofers used two broken tiles, which I discovered (the company did agree to replace them); 3.) when I called about an emergency repair (the ceiling had just fallen in in my rental property), they proposed to charge me $600. just to come out and place a tarp on the roof! For a company to take advantage of an urgent situation with an existing customer makes me loose all sense of customer loyalty. I won't use them again unless I have no choice. For the emergency,I just told them no and found another roofing company. I will try this one and see how they do.

I spent $1800 on that work. The work went very well. They were here on time and did what they said they were going to do. They were very honest and upfront. They showed us the proof of insurance which a lot of contractors won?t do.
