Description of Work: job was to inspect roof. He arrived late, altho he did call. It was after dark and he insisted he could properly inspect. He applied a few minor tasks - secured a few shingles, etc. Inspection completed in less than 1/2 hour. He was very nice.

Description of Work: When I think of Modern Roofing, Two words comes to mind: UNPROFESSIONAL & FLAKES I contacted Modern Roofing on October 21 (almost 2 months ago), to obtain an estimate on some roof repairs at my property in Southern California. I was contacted by phone the next day, with an estimate covering all repairs required and a request for a $250 deposit, which was promptly paid by credit card. This was followed by a faxed estimate detailing all the work that needed to be done. When I queried as to when the repairs were expected to be completed, I was informed that the repairs would be completed within two weeks. I checked with my tenenats two weeks later and was informed that absolutely no work had been done, nor had anyone from Modern Roofing contacted them. I called Modern Roofing to inquire and was informed that they are swamped with work and that the weather at the time did not help but the would get to it in about a week.. Since the work had not been completed and I had not heard from Modern Roofing, I called them on November 28 and informed them that it was a whole month since we gave them the job and that I was unhappy about the delay and, again, inquired when they expected to complete the repairs and they stated that they will get to it on December 2.. Since I had not heard from Modern Roofing nor my tenants, I called Modern Roofing on December 3 and they stated that they had scheduled the work to be done on December 2 but the tenant had re-scheduled it to December 7. I called my tenant on December 8 and was informed that Modern Roofing DID NOT SHOW UP, nor had they called and offered and explanation. I called Modern Roofing on December 9 and left a message for someone to call me back with an explanation. I received a call back on December 11 from Modern Roofing, stating that the repairs could not be carried out as planned as they now estimated that the entire roof needed to be replaced. When I inquired why I was informed of this now and not when the original estimate was given to me on October 22, they could not respond. I plan on reporting this company to the licensing authority and am hoping that others will learn from my experience with Modern Roofing. THIS IS DEFINITELY A COMPANY THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

Description of Work: I had a leak in the roof. Ernie can out, exactly at the time promised and inspected the area of the leak. He could find no reason for the leak and thought maybe it was caused by water running down and through an attic vent. He throughly inspected the tiles and sealed all areas that could pobbible be at fault. The cost for this was NOTHING. Do they come any better than this? I donb't think so. Modern Roofing gets my vote and any refers that I can give to them. Thanks guys.

Description of Work: Made an appointement two days ago. No show, no call. I called the office four times and finally the guy call back and said he won't be able to make it.

Description of Work: This was a frustrating waste of time. I called them and emailed them our 1 page list of specs for a new energy-efficient roof and deck (which sits over part of the roof), and Ernie Moscoso came out on 8/5/10. We liked Ernie and were impressed by his roofing knowledge. but a week went by, then another week, then another week, and still Ernie didn't send us any estimate. I emailed and phoned Ernie several times to follow up, and a couple times he emailed me back that he was still working on the estimate. Once or twice he didn't respond. he never said his company didn't do decks - after all, they have a B general building license, as well as a C39 license for roofing. I persisted, and spoke to the owner, Allison. She was professional, and tried to rehabilitate her company's reputation with me. I spoke with her several times and she followed up with Ernie and finally told me he had lost our file, and claimed he hadn't gotten my emails (although I had gotten responses from him, and it didn't matter anyway, the point was that he never got us the estimate). Allison ended up sending Mike on 9/4/10, and he then told us that the couldn't bid the deck part of the job, and could only bid the roof part. Since we wanted one contractor to do and coordinate both parts of the job, since the deck sat on part of the roof, this wasted even more of our time. Why didn't the person who took my call tell me they didn't do decks? Why didn't Ernie? Why didn't Allison?

Description of Work: At the end, I did not hire Modern Roofing as their price was higher. Although, it is possible that the higher price was due to better materials, such as using synthetic felt. However, Mike Donnell was very professional and took a lot of time explaining in details all the steps involved in putting a new roof and the materials to be used. He has a great sense of humor. He is very knowledgeable about worldly matters and I had a great conversation with him about global warming.

Description of Work: i don't know how this company stays in business. Although Ernie, the estimator, seemed nice, my small job fell way low on his follow-up list. I had to finally call his supervisor to get any response. Although Allison, the supervisor, did return my calls, I think they underbid my job and didn't want to have to honor the bid. They were scheduling my job 3-4 weeks away. It was a thoroughly frustrating experience and I would never recommend this company

Description of Work: Removed old roof on multi building project, and re roofed. included several flat areas and steep pitch areas. On Fess Parker's Wine Country Inn & Spa in Los Olivos

Description of Work: A tile fell off while my house was being painted, and he came right out and fixed the problem.
