M&M Custom Flooring

Having come from a hardworking small business family, I like to find and support local companies and service providers that share the same commitment and dedication to providing an excellent job AND premier customer service. This seems to be a very rare thing, but after researching reviews for local floor refinishers, I am so happy to have found M&M Custom Flooring in Burbank. The task seemed daunting to us: sand, stain and apply 3 coats of polyurethane to older wood floors throughout our small house (all rooms except for the kitchen and bath), and replace all the floor molding. Co-owner Mike came out promptly to appraise the situation and give us an estimate. We honestly didn?t know if the floors were salvageable as they had been totally neglected over the decades and were pretty beat up. He assured us there were at least two more sanding worth of life left in the original oak (circa 1950), and even pointed out some small issues that needed to be addressed to make everything perfect: we had noticed one plank that needed replacing, and he noted the outline of the hole where a floor furnace had once been, and a couple of other small problem areas. He knows his stuff! Our experience with M&M has been the best of all the contractors and companies we have tried through Angie?s List. Everyone there is a consummate professional: highly skilled, knowledgeable, courteous, grateful for the work, responsive to requests, and as a company, fairly priced. In addition to Mike, I especially want to thank two of his supervisors, Armando and Zach. They went out of their way to ensure our complete satisfaction, and were so patient in the process of letting us see samples of variously tinted stains on the newly sanded floor so we could pick one we loved. When one plank looked a little light to me--because of the grain of the wood and how it was originally cut, not because of anything they did wrong--they masterfully worked their magic with extra stain and polyurethane on just the one piece. This is called going above and beyond! The bottom line is that the floors look absolutely beautiful, which totally transformed the whole look and feel of the house. Late in the job I asked for some new wood strips that would cover the spaces from the living room to the kitchen and bath, and also at the front door. When I offered to pay him for the whole job, Mike said he wanted me to be absolutely happy with their work before he took a dime. Then, even though it wasn't on the original estimate, he didn't charge me for the strips! Would we use Mike and M&M Custom Flooring again? YES, in a heartbeat! Thanks so much!

M & M Custom Flooring was a pleasure to work with overall. From the first phone call answered by Casey to the in home estimate provided by Mike, I was impressed with the whole experience from start to finish. We had been searching for what seemed like forever for a dependable, affordable and reputable company to install new hardwood flooring in our living room, dining room and hallway along with new tile in the bathroom. When Mike came to our home to provide an estimate - he immediately made us feel at ease with this home improvement decision we had made. His expertise in flooring was amazing and he provided new insight on what would look the best for our budget. He worked with us in every aspect to get the most bang for our buck. The installers were curtious and professional. I can't wait to do more to the rest of the house and make our dream house come to life with the help of M & M Custom Flooring. In the meantime, I will be referring them to anyone looking for beautiful flooring!!

Mike, Daniel and all their crew are so great! We worked primarily with Mike to discuss materials, setup times and payments, but everyone who worked on the job or in the office were really nice and always working hard. Our wood was originally covered up with carpet, before we even consulted about the work I had torn almost all the carpet up from the floors to check the condition of the wood underneath. The crew picked up all the staples and cleaned everything up before going in to sand the floors. I talked with Mike about our future plans (how would animals effect our new floors?) and he helped us through the decision process. We went natural, no stain, with a matte finish. The guys did a great job working new boards into our damaged areas so they flow seamlessly with the old floors which, over time, had soaked in the color tint from the original finish decades ago. When some old boards cracked due to unseen termite damage Mike and his crew were right there ready to help replace them. In the newer parts of the house we got Silk Strand carpet by Mohawk installed onto a wonderful carpet pad suggested by Mike. We originally just used the carpet as a price gauge, intending to step down and find some money savings as the project got closer to its start date, but by the time we were ready to order we just couldn't give it up, this carpet is fabulous! Our carpet install hit a snag when dry rot was found near the back door, but the guys were right back to work the next day after we had it repaired. I don't regret the extra money we spent on the carpet, every time I walk on it I have a guilty smile on my face. Our vinyl area was just a small bathroom, the crew took care of the carpet that had been there previously as well as taking away all of the carpet and pad I had torn up before they even arrived. They did a great job on the installation here and it was our first piece of finished flooring in the whole house. After all the flooring was done Mike came over personally with 3 or 4 guys to get our baseboards in before the house tenting. They were fast and did a really great job. I found one or two places missing caulking after they left, but Mike came over the next day and fixed it as well as adding some really nice thresholds to work with our wood floors. I really can't say enough about how much I liked working with M&M Custom Flooring, if you're thinking about doing a home improvement project, definitely get these guys to work on your floors. I will be calling them again with my next flooring project but in the mean time I'll be talking them up to all my friends and coworkers.

Mike was extremely knowledgeable about how to lay the new flooring to match my old floors. I had gotten other bids and they were not as knowledgeable as Mike. There was a large hole that needed filling before the floors could even be laid (13 x 2 foot area). He had to fill first with cement and then Ardex x 2. His crew came on weekends to get the job done. This was labor intensive. The crew was polite, responsible and neat. Mike also suggested framing the hearth area with the wood. It looks fantastic and I appreciated the suggestion. I would use them anytime. Great customer service. The absolute best.

Mike and his crew did a fantastic job from the beginning to the end. Hardwood flooring was brought in weeks before to let the wood acclimate. Part of the hallway had just baseboard which required removal. The remaining hardwood in the hallway was removed because of deep staining and multiple nails. After seeing the nails in the dining room, that part was also removed and replaced without additional charge. Sanding was done with minimal mess since the crew did a magnificent job of taping off and prepping the rest of the rooms so dust will not get in. Once the sanding was done, the stains were put on the flooring so the decision could be made. After the rest of the unfinished floor was allowed to rest, the final stain was put on and then the polyurethane layers were put on. Finally, the selected base molding was placed and painted. And the new flooring was tied into our existing tile, rug, and linoleum flooring. Additionally, the crew did a magnificent job of cleaning after each day's work. And the final product was absolutely beautiful! We were also looking for new window treatments in the rooms with the new flooring. As it turned out, Mike also was able to provide the shutters we wanted. It did take some weeks to get the shutters since they are made to order. They were installed in January and they are just what we wanted. Mike did show us one window that had a little scratch from the manufacturer so he replaced that one shutter. He is very much of a professional and perfectionist, something which we appreciate. This shows in his work and the work of his crew.

M&M Flooring did a great job start to finish replacing our wood floors. Daniel knew exactly how to plan the job for the least amount of disruption to our daily routine, and along with his son Zach and crew, did fine work with the installation. These guys are honest, reliable and good craftsmen. Throughout the process Daniel was always reachable and could be counted on to respond to all of my calls and emails in a timely and friendly fashion. They also have a nice showroom in Burbank.

Excellent. We put half down when the carpet was ordered and the other half was not paid until we were satisfied with the work. They did not even bat an eye when it came to rebuffing the floor from the bubbles. Again, excellent customer service and would recommend them to anyone.

My overall experience was great. I wouldn't go with anyone else. I tell everyone about my experience with not only M&M Flooring but with Angies List. If it wasnt for all the great reviews I read about them, I would have never called them.

Given that they never followed up with us we can only assume they could not meet our requirements but a follow up call or even email would have been nice. We found someone else who did exactly what we needed. I think M and M might work well for routine installations but not more discerning customers.

We just bought a home and were interested in replacing the grungy carpeting the previous owners were leaving us. I checked out several places and nearly bought from a large carpet chain. I am glad that I didn't, the guy there was friendly more or less, but not really that helpful. Just seemed to be telling me what I could read for myself on the carpet samples. I found M&M through Angie's List and went to the store to talk to them. It is a fairly small business - only one person there who I talked to. She was friendly and helpful but didn't really know all the answers about various carpets - which she readily admitted. She offered to call one of the owners - which she did and he drove in from a job or somewhere to talk to me. Daniel was a great help - very friendly, down to earth, not pushy and honest about what he thought would work in my situation. He was very patient with all of my questions and seemed interested in helping me get what I needed, NOT what would make them more money. Daniel was able to make a very short notice, small window (1/2 hour) where I was able to get contractors into the sellers home for measurements. He showed up early and was able to get all measurements done quickly. He gave me a good price on the carpet and installation and he was able to make a fairly short timeline for the installation. On the day of the carpet install, the two man crew made quick work of removing the old carpet and padding and spent the entire day, save for 15 or 20 minutes for lunch, doing a great job on the install. These installers - I think one was Ralph - were excellent - very hard workers. The carpets look great - we are very happy with the entire process. Couldn't ask for a better group of people to deal with if you are buying carpeting.

When I phoned M and M, Daniel came to my house to give me an estimate and bring carpet samples. Later Daniel dropped off others when i needed to see more. When I found what I wanted, we set up the appointment. I had to reschedule because of an injury and they were very understanding of that. When they came out, the two men who installed the carpet were extremely nice, even to my wary dog. It was raining for the two days they were here, but the carpet and their work was unaffected. They did a beautiful job, and I'll certainly use them again as well as recommend them to my friends. It was a real pleasure working with them. They also give an 'Angie's List' discount.

Scheduled an appointment with M&M for a flooring estimate for our den and our bedroom. Mike came by and told us our options and was very thorough on what we can do with our price range. He was very professional and detailed. We currently have hardwood floors in our bedroom and old carpet in our den. will definitely call them for flooring, they are great!

While I did not get the work done both Mike who I spoke to one the phone and Danny who came out to do the estimate were very professional and helpful. Danny was very easy to talk to and willing to explain all the details of getting the job done. I would not hesitate to use them for any work in the future.

Mike and his team at M&M Custom Flooring did a fantastic job refinishing the hardwood floors in our new home. Mike walked me through the whole process and explained all of the different options. His team was totally professional, respectful, and friendly. I couldn't be happier with the beautiful new finish and would use M&M Custom Flooring for all of my future flooring needs.

Had them tear out carpet in three bedrooms, and put in wood flooring. They were able to match the already existing floors. They removed the existing baseboards, and were able to reinstall without any issues. They responded quickly, and were the only one of three estimates that were able to match. They finished before their estimate. I figured I was going with these guys before that actual cost estimates had come in, just based off the visit. When the cost estimates came in, they were the most expensive, but only by $200. It was worth the extra. I would use them again in the future.

After researching a few flooring companies to install new carpet and new tile in my condo I decided on M & M. Daniel and Mike were extremely knowledgeable, returned all my calls right away and never once tried to steer me toward something I didn't want or was more expensive than what my budget was. They were very up front about all the work that would be involved and informed of the pros and cons of each decision to be made, from the installation process all the way down to the floor board. And because of this honesty I completely trusted them. They did everything exactly on schedule and exactly on budget, not a single penny over. The new carpet is wonderful and the tile looks superb! A good experience overall. However, he was not able to help me with ceramic tile for my bath and kitchen.

The work looks great. You can't even tell which boards he replaced (except obviously for the absence of scratches). Under time, under budget. Mike showed up early, finished earlier than he had predicted and at a slightly lower cost. What more can you ask for? He also came out on a Sunday, which I really appreciate. If you're looking for the best, look no further. Just be prepared to plan ahead a bit, as Mike is, with good reason, very much in demand and almost constantly busy. It's no surprise, though, as Mike was originally recommended to me by the very best general contractor I've ever worked with and M&M Custom Flooring has certainly lived up to my expectations.

I will definitely re-hire them to do the second floor when I'm ready to do it! They were professional, easy to deal with and did an excellent job installing my flooring. Daniel came out on a Sunday to give me an estimate - this after I called around to about 6 different companies listed here on Angie's List and M & M was the only one open on a Saturday. I highly recommend them.

M & M and owner Daniel were excellent in all ways. Knowledgeable, careful, professional, punctual, and did great work. Really a great experience.

M&M came out for a free quote (which was more expensive than others but a lot). He was able to stay on schedule and complete the work quickly. The quality was a bit questionable in several area (one piece of baseboard was not even nailed in), there were some gaps but overall a decent job. I had to have them come out a second time to fix some of the problem areas. Despite our strong warning to protect our new floors, the entry way was chipped probably due to a dropped nailgun.

Not much to tell. I called, they set up a time to do it, he showed up on time, did a clean job and left. What more can you ask for? Wish all business was this easy.

Daniel called back promptly with an explanation that my house is too far away from the company's service area. He indicated he is still willing to come out and do a consultation but actual installation may be cost prohibitive due to possible overnight stay of the crew because of the long distance to travel. Very professional, polite, and excellent communicator ... impressed by the promptness ... the first to reply from a number of vendors via weekend email inquiries.Will reach out again if my next house is closer to their service areas.

They were very accomodating in helping me choose the flooring -- dropping off and picking up floor samples several times. (I believe they now have a showroom in Burbank, which should make things easier.) They were obviously very experienced and made me feel confident that the end result would be satisfactory. I was neglectful in not posting this review sooner, and I don't want to go into lots of detail.. but just wanted to say I liked these guys and I am very happy with the new floor.

They arrived promptly removed the old carpet and padding swept the room and put my new carpet and padding down. The room looked so nice, not one piece of the old or new carpet was left everything was so clean and spotless. Very good experince I am going to have them come and recarpet another room and lay some tiling in the bathroom.
