M&M Custom Flooring

Description of Work: M&M refinished our hardwood floors in the front room and hallway. The floors look wonderful. The stain matches the bedrooms very closely, which we did not have refinished. They were prompt, efficient and kept everything as clean as possible. We would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: Removed carpets, leveled floors, installed new engineered hardwood. Sanded, stained and finished other floors. |Cleaned and re-grouted old bathroom tile -- only part of job that wasn't stellar (but that may be due to age of tile -- grout didn't come as clean as we were hoping it would). |The old floors under the carpets needed a lot of work to install new flooring and Daniel and his crew were fantastic at explaining the work to be done and the options to get the floors right.

Description of Work: I needed wood flooring installed in a small room (140 Sq ft). They told me that this job is to small and not worth there time. If they took the job they would charge me some outrageous labor fee. To there credit I could not find a contractor that would take my job, very disappointed in the Angie's List contractors. I ended up doing the job myself 3 months later as I did not have time to do it when I was searching for a contractor therefore my reason for wanting to hire someone to do this very simple job. Again disappointed in Angie's List Contractors.

Description of Work: Ripped carpeting out, replaced with new flooring that matched existing. They also custom made. stair treads to look distressed and to match existing flooring. Looks fantastic!

Description of Work: Assessed, measured, discussed,Quoted price. Mike was fantastic. Price well out of my range. I must re-access how much I want to do for a filthy tenant. |Cadillac care is NOT in her future. Will consider sanding one layer of badly damaged oak flooring and putting on a hard pet-impervious liquid finish to last until she moves out with her three untrained dogs.

Description of Work: Had M&M come and look at a problem we were having with our existing flooring. He was probably the most honest of any of the people that came and look at it. He couldn't help us in the end, but I wouldn't hesitate to call him again if I had another job.

Description of Work: Floor looks beautiful but they failed to paint the toe molding and I had to hire a painter to finish the job. |I was disappointed because of this.

Description of Work: Ripped out bad pergo flooring and prepped and installed new carpet in one rom. Casey and Mike and installers were all great. My only issue was when Mike gave estimate and I asked him about removing and replacing the base moldings which were old and all chipped he suggested instead I just paint them myself. I did this and regretted it. I had the beautiful new carpet in and the old moldings looked terrible. I ended up calling and having two of their guys come out to take out and replace them with new moldings. Was an extra 500 expense and made me nervous having that work done with the expensive new carpet in. They did do a great job though of changing them out without any damage to the new rug. Also no Angie's list discount. Despite these small issues It was very easy and pleasant working with them and I will probably use them again in the future.

Description of Work: The two things that most describe Mike McMillan, owner of M& M Custom Flooring in Burbank, CA, is his work ethic and integrity. I first met Mike back in 2010 when I purchased my first home in Altadena. Being that the house was a foreclosure, it came with several problems after sitting empty for almost two years. Mike was one of four vendors I contacted to fashion a bid to install Brazilian Cherry wood floors in the house. Of all the vendors, Mike was the only person to ask if he could cut into the old carpet to see what was underneath the floor to better access the job. As a result of his focus on detail he found out parts of the sub-floor needed to be replaced, including the plywood. The most troubling problem was that the concrete slab floor in the master bedroom., which was an additional was not leveled. It was off by two inches. He also wasn’t sure that the wood could be installed without proving a source of ventilation. I realized at that moment that maybe I was taking on a project that was too big to manage. Despite all the deficiencies, Mike assured me he could work with me and resolved all the problems associated with the floors in the house to get the project done. After seeing all the estimates I went with Mike, even though he was a bit more expensive than the other vendors. Overall, I felt he was honest with his recommendations for the project and would get the job done right. The project overall took almost two years to complete from start to finish. It took that long because of delays related to my contractor and serious problems we had with the manufacturer of the wood. Mike became an advocate for me when after receiving the wood for the install he determined it was inferior in quality because the milling process was distorted. He spoke directly to the manufacturer, and because of his efforts the wood was returned to the factory twice before I finally accepted a shipment that would adequately work for the install. Mike and his work crew made sure every detail was covered from the proper style of the baseboards matching the molding of the house, to making sure I was happy with the color and arrangement of the planks, to creating a custom molding for my fireplace, which looks great. As I mentioned previously, he really went above and beyond the call of duty to work with me these last few years to ensure I was pleased with the overall work. The results are truly awesome. Mike and his crew installed a beautiful hardwood floor in my house that will provide a lasting memory of elegance. Given his dedication to the customer, his integrity for the project and his work ethic, Mike truly deserves the highest rating given at Angie’s List. Thank you.

Description of Work: I had my hardwood floors refinished by M and M and I am so pleased. They were the best team, punctual, courteous and the price was spot on as I had gotten many bids on this job. I can't say enough about how wonderful everything turned out. Mike at M and M was just great to deal with. I will be using them again!! Don't bother calling anyone else, just call them!!

Description of Work: Mike and other worker from M&M Flooring removed ancient carpeting a,d tacking strips around the room, and hauled the old carpet away. They then sanded and refinished the old wood floor that lay under the carpet they hauled away. They did a superb job going beyond the usual by creating a way to cope with a challenging transition from the newly finished floor to the tile floor where the two met. Description of Work: Removed old vinyl flooring, including a very convoluted combination of subfloors in the bath and kitchen. Stabilized and prepared the subfloor to properly receive the new vinyl. Daniel was conscientious and paid great attention to detail. He worked tirelessly through sweltering heat without complaint and was always pleasant and professional. His work was excellent and we would definitely recommend him.

Description of Work: Mike and his guys did an AMAZING job refinishing and staining my hardwood floors. They even replaced a couple boards and thresholds that were either damaged or missing at no additional charge to the original quote. At the end of the job, I decided to pay him a bit more because I felt that he undervalued the work and deserved a bit more. I can't imagine having a better experience, and whole-heartedly recomend these guys to everyone.
