A 5 star company--owner Curt, Dimas, Alice, Patricia....My furnace went out the night before Thanksgiving, so I called on Thursday to get on their list for Monday....they showed up early, discovered that the one part that needed replacing wasn't the whole problem and worked to find out what else was wrong--and fixed that, too. The furnace is 26 years old--but they said it still has some life left in it. Honest people! Thank you.

Everyone should be prepared. Being a retired contractor, I know licenses, bonds, and equipment are very expensive. Today’s floor furnace repair could have easily been expensive, but the Repair Technician (Dimas) lead with integrity I believe to be a company value. A slightly untrustworthy shop could have upselled me (The modern business model). However, they appear to desire regular customers… and did the proper job for a safe heater for the both of us. Someday, I may need a new floor furnace, but not now. This 1945 era Holly Stubby has more life, saving me a considerable amount of opportunity cost. Like your car mechanic, honest behavior is a net money gain. I’ll give them five smiley faces (as, I think, the kids say today). This comment was unsolicited- I’m happy to share a good heating agency with my community.

Long over due review but here goes, OUTSTANDING in every aspect. I have two old floor heaters and still love them. They are far less to run than the central system but one would just not light. Pilot was burning but no love turning on. Enter the tech that arrived. He checked EVERYTHING to narrow down the issue. He even checked for CO2 leaks then giggled and said "I was afraid of this. I have to go under the house." It was the Thermopile but he had one on his truck. He replaced the part and the unit immediately worked again and has ever since. Highly recommended

We've used this company since we bought our house 14 years ago and they are the best! Always on time, usually come in cheaper than the competition and are the nicest people you could meet. I highly recommend them, top drawer!

Johnston Gas Furnace replaced a gas valve and installed a wall thermostat on a previous manual on and off by key only system. Also replaced the pilot generator, flex gas line, inspected for cracks and carbon monoxide leaks. Johnston's was the only area furnace company that was willing to repair a in floor heater. Johnston's has years of experience repairing old units. Bryan the technician was on time, professional, honest, and knew his job! You will not be disappointed if you hire them!

I needed someone to fix what the previous heater repair guy made worse. I was smelling gas from my floor furnace. I saw the reviews on these guys on how they were experts on old floor furnaces and I gave them a call. They were booked solid and I had to wait about a week since winter had just started and people were getting work before it got colder. The lady on the other line was really nice When Eric arrived at the appointed time, he noticed all the problems from the previous person. Leaking gas from a clogged head, open cap allowing carbon monoxide to leak in, lots of rusted parts, a removed furnace housing base, and a non-bolted flex line. I guess the previous person repair guy didn't like me and wanted to kill me and I had no idea had bad it was. Eric was really good at explaining the situation. It took another week to get the part needed to complete the job. It only took Eric about 3 hours to finish it all. I was impressed how he rebuilt this one rusted unit with new sheet metal cheaply and quickly. Once it was all done, he tested the furnace and made sure everything was working before leaving. I asked if I should shut the pilot gas off for summer and he advised against it. I'd definitely recommend them for old furnaces like mine. Eric has a lot of experience and know how.

Both technicians and receptionists I spoke to were extremely nice and professional. They fit us into their schedule within a day, fixed the problem very quickly, explained how to use the heater (we just purchased the home) and cleaned up. Everyone else we spoke to suggested we install a new (and ugly) wall heater. We are so glad we didn't; the floor heater works great now! We'd gladly use them again.

They called me to do them the favor of changing the date. I agreed and re-iterated that I needed them to come with enough time for me to leave at 10am (for work). They said it was no problem. The day of the appt I had to call the office at 9:40 am to see if anyone was coming. The office said the tech left at 8am for my house. We are maybe 4 to 5 miles apart. They have no idea what took the tech Eric so long to get to my house. He arrived at 9:45 am and rushed through the job. He made me late. He finished at 10:10am. I don't feel he did a good job and wonder why he endangered me getting to work in time. What was he doing from 8am-9:45am? Drinking? Having breakfast? Visiting friends? I didn't get an explanation. He didn't apologize and was not sorry. The office said they were going to adjust my bill or something to make me feel more confident in the service he provided. No one offered to recheck his work. A little over a month later they sent me a bill for the full amount. I called the office to ask if they were going to make an adjustment or offer anything. They just said they were going to check. Then I told them they should have offered to recheck his work. That would have been the proper thing for them to do. I am getting a new air conditioner soon so I am not forcing that requesting. They took $25 off the bill. I don't think it is enough, and I am still unhappy with their lack of care in why their tech was missing for over an hour and a half. I have no idea if the tech actually did a good or bad job since I am not an air conditioner technician. As a customer, I am still thinking about the incident each time I hear my air conditioner comes on during this hot summer.

I spent most of the winter looking for someone to repair my old floor heater. Johnston Gas Furnace were the only ones who didn't charge me just to tell me they couldn't fix it. So when I finally got the cash together for a new heater, I immediately gave them the job. The work was professionally done, the guys were cool, they covered the hole in the floor, and added a more convenient entry hatch to the attic. Excellent work!

I have been using them for twenty years. I have used them a lot. They have installed my furnace. They are very professional and knowledgable. They are responsible and low pressure. The price is right.

They were very professional. They determined that one of them needed to go under the house and repair the part of the furnace that was not accessible from above. They obviously know quite a lot about old floor heaters because they repaired it in no time at all. It's great to have a working heater again.

i've worked with johnston gas on 3 separate properties. in one, it was simply when the existing central heat / ac unit failed on a residence that we bought a few months prior. we btw had some gold concierge protection plan or something equally fancy sounding from coldwell banker when we bought the property, but of course when you try to actually use the protection plan and get something fixed... suddenly whatever you need covered doesn't fall under that category of the whole house protection plan! (lovely...). anyway, johnston gas came highly recommended by our contractor, so we tried em. overall quality of service and professionalism is high, and generally speaking you can tell they aim to please. i've dealt with enough contractors to know when they have a lazy or lousy attitude and that would of course translate into a job of the same. johnston gas was always professional, punctual and thorough. they are not inexpensive by any means. but sometimes you have to pay just a little more for quality and peace of mind. they have generally good follow through. whenever i called about the big unit they installed, whether for annual servicing or any general issue, they have always been prompt and eager it seems to check things out and make sure all is right after they installed the 3-ton unit on one property, i had them take a look at two smaller places where the houses had no ac/heat whatsoever. what they recommended for these small spots were and quot;mr slimand quot; heating/ac units by mitsubishi. there are many such models like this on the market now by many manufacturers (i just saw some LG ones at costco that i thought, dayam... those are much prettier than the ones i have - they had a mirrored front!), where there is a slim head(s) that go inside, and they are connected by thin pipes to a larger condenser / pump on the outside. this type of system was definitely right for these two spots -- combining heat and a/c, and being unobtrusive on the interior. (lets face it, no one likes looking at window units...). again, these were not inexpensive options, but they are quality units and they perfectly serve the space and needs. i'm very loyal to good contractors, because they are hard to find. i don't think this is the least expensive place, but they are who i'd call first for my heating and a/c needs and who'd i'd definitely recommend to friends. enemies... i'd probably send elsewhere! ;-)

Ancient floor furnace in family member's home stopped working. Serviceman very professional, friendly, explained everything he would and did do. Tested for CO2 as well. Before checking the integrity of the unit itself, he had to spray for black widow spiders and other lovely things under the house. Unit had been well maintained and showed no rust or other problem. The thermostat, though only two years old, was the source of problem. He left for a few minutes to obtain the simple new thermostat that was desired, and installed it to the owner's complete satisfaction. It was good to have him examine the unit, which unbelievably is still working, despite its age.

I highly recommend them. They were thorough.

They are very sensitive to working with older homes. Their work was exceptional.
