I heard about Marlon from a neighbor who had hired him to fix several leaking places on her roof and a fix a chimney that was losing some bricks and let water into the house. I don't know how much they paid, but they were extremely happy with the work and went out of their way to recommend him. They had found out about Marlon from another neighbor who had a good experience with him. He was everything you hope for but never expect. He returned my call promptly, showed up at the appointed time to see the work we needed to have done, was able to give us a quote on the spot. He wanted to check the price of some materials, and called later that evening to let us know what he found. We scheduled him to come out to work two days. He actually showed up on time but with a helper, and asked if it was okay to do everything in one day. Fine with me! He did end up having to go to the hardware store a couple of times, which I hate but I guess it is unavoidable. But for the most part, he came prepared with all the tools, equipment and supplies needed for the day. Got right to work and I mean these two guys worked hard and fast all day. There were a couple of delays. There was a huge rock they found when digging a hole for the fence post, it had to be removed before pouring the concrete. Also they were to install a post lamp fixture near the street on an existing post that was leaning. When we dug down to try to right the post, we found a huge tree root had pushed it over, so they had to cut the root. Both the fence and the lamp post came out perfectly, though, as did the light fixtures and everything else. They worked until it got dark but didn't quite finish all the jobs, so we had Marlon come out a couple days later. It took him a full half-day to finish, so we paid him for another half day. We didn't have a problem with this since the work turned out to be more than projected. Marlon is one of the good guys. Very nice, extremely honest, very Christian. We have been looking for a long time for a handyman and have finally found the one. We will call him again for any future miscellaneous jobs that come up. From what I have seen and heard, he knows plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, roofing. He has built houses from the ground up. I have had a licensed contractor that brought in people who had no idea what they were doing with the plumbing and electrical. Marlon does know what he is doing. No shortcuts, nothing hokey, everything done properly and quickly because he knows what he's doing.
