Form + Function

Impeccable work!!! We needed custom cushions for our new bench and after reading all the great reviews we decided to go with Form & Function. Roger was quick to reply to us reaching out and we were able to tell him exactly what we wanted. And he delivered! We also went to his shop for a meeting and got to see all the other pieces they are working on. Like an old work table they were using for a bathroom vanity. He came out and took exact measurements and when they arrived they fit perfectly. Very happy with the end product.

Some years back, F+F built a remarkable custom table for our alcove. With a divine heaviness that suggested an likely marriage of Stickley and Bauhaus, its painted black top and truss legs turned the corner at 135 degrees. We returned this year for a companion desk, and this time I asked for a bank of drawers, that would hang from beneath the top with no side support. By 2021, however, the shop had become very busy and it took a couple of months to complete. It was worth the wait. As usual, Roger and his master lead craftsman, Miguel, rendered my drawing into a fabulous piece of furniture, that looks like the 20th century gone mad, while serving all of my home office requirements. F+F rocks, and I recommend them without question!

Could not be happier with my dining room chairs and two sofas. Roger was always quick to answer any questions and guided me in the selection of a Crypton super fabric to meet the fabric needs for all my rescue dogs. The finished furniture is stunning and I highly recommend Form + Function for any upholstery work. Great communication, service, craftsmanship and delivery of stunning re-upholstered furniture. I am thrilled and looking forward to sending another project their way.

We could not be more pleased with our finished project from Form + Function. We had an idea of what we were looking for and the owner delivered above and beyond our expectations. He provided excellent and responsive service and the craftsmanship is exceptional. In today’s world where there is so much cookie cutter product, it is a wonderful opportunity to have a custom-built project. From start to finish Form + Function was wonderful and more than exceeded our expectations.

My second job for Roger Remnath at Form + Function was refinishing a Scandinavian moderne coffee table. This piece has moving parts. There are 2 hidden leaves and a lever assembly that lifts the top to dining table height. The top had been etched by fruit juice and had a hole where a set pin pushed through the veneer. It would take skilled people to make it right. Once again, Roger demonstrated his ability to roll with the punches. The first pass was not a color match to the original finish, so Roger had it refinished a second time at no additional cost. The final finish was absolutely a perfect match, and all of the offending blemishes were gone. This old table has never looked better.

We could not be more pleased with the work Roger did! I bought a really nice 1 of a kind sofa from someone online 13 years ago. But after a decade of wear and tear it needed some TLC. Roger and his staff were great! The work was done on schedule and it looks amazing. I was able to keep my 1 of a kind sofa instead of replacing it with something with no character. If you want quality work done at a reasonable price-point, this is the place!

My assignment for Roger Remnath and his Form + Function crew was to build a table to fit a 40 square foot alcove in my old Hollywood house---an odd semi-circle that arrived in a 1970’s renovation. The table would be 6 feet long, 18 inches wide and bent at 135 degrees in the middle. The legs had to support that weird angle, and the top had to be stained to match the finish on a pair of black Stua chairs. There was nothing like it on the market, so the only option was a custom build. I collaborated with Roger on the final design and the development of key details during construction, and every one of his ideas was smart and effective. He knew when to step in and when to step back. Ultimately, he solved the main problem of design, suggesting a simple and elegant box-truss arrangement to support the top. The result was a massive statement that reinvigorated an awkward space, hand-built by actual American craftsmen right here in Los Angeles. Everything about this says yes.

We are so very glad we found Form + Function. They have made three custom pieces for us and we are just about to start on a fourth. Roger is very detail oriented and is an excellent communicator, his partner Miguel is a fabulous builder as well. We had two particular places in our house that didn't seem fit anything -- we wanted a hutch but nothing we saw had the right dimensions. Roger talked with us on email, sending pictures and sketches back and forth and visited our home twice before starting the build. We ended up with a lovely hutch, a built in kitchen bookshelf and a beautiful matching curved cabinet / floating shelves in a nook in our living room. They are stunning and wonderfully built. We thought we were splurging, but it turned out the cost was only somewhere between Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware -- AND the quality is discernably better AND because Roger checked back with us so diligently throughout the process we got furniture and built-ins that we really love. Check them out before and after your visit to RH or Pottery Barn -- we are very happy we did. (p.s. - the piece looks even better than the attached pic represents -- we get spontaneous wondering comments on it from our friends)
