 + -1 moreThis is the third time I have worked with Terry. He plastered the many cracks in a bedroom's walls, as well as in the ceiling. He then applied a new coat of plaster on the entire ceiling, creating a textured finish like in an old Spanish-colonial revival style house. Terry is a pleasure to work with. He has many years of experience and I feel fortunate that he still wants to make his his craftmanship available to customers.

 + 0 moreMr. Carver came out and gave an estimate of $1,200 for the work. At the time of the estimate, I did not know if there was going to be a need for inside wall work repair (i.e. frame repair), so I agreed to the $1,200 quote. Mr. Carver came on time and repaired the stucco and the plaster (including prepping the wall with a plaster "glue". He matched the texture of the existing plaster, as requested. The job took approximately 3 hours. Mr. Carver was friendly and he cleaned up after his work. I paid the $1,200. I would not hire him again, because I believe I was grossly overcharged for this work. I was charged $400/hour for this relatively small job. I cannot find justification for his pricing.

Description of Work: My home had several areas where stucco had fallen off due to being old, holes from old gas pipes, and from years of water hitting a backyard wall that had also weakened the concrete wall after the stucco had fallen off.

 + -1 moreHe did great work and cleaned up well. The only point of contention was that I asked if we should not use a water barrier so these walls were bordering flower beds and he did not use that. Now it's leaking through.

 + -1 moreWork performed is described above. Terry arrived on time. He was quick to point out the rotting wood inside the overhang, and offer several alternatives for fixing it. He spent approximately three hours in total on the job. I was satisfied with the end result, and just have to hire a painter to paint the areas he worked on. (He also provided a referral to a painter, though I haven't followed up with him at this time).
Description of Work: Terry patched four or five areas on the exterior of my mother's old (1930's vintage) home, and left them in a condition where they are ready to be painted. I also asked him to repair a stucco overhang which juts out over the front door of her home, which had a large crack in the surface. He examined the damage and pointed out that a supporting wooden beam inside the overhang was rotting, and the optimal solution would be to remove the overhang or rebuild it around a new beam. This would have been a bit more time-consuming and expensive than we were ready to undertake, so he filled the crack and patched some smaller damaged areas, and left it ready to paint. Not the ideal solution, obviously, but it kept the cost reasonable and it certainly looks much better than it did before.

 + -1 moreTerry's response was prompt. He knew what he was doing. He did a professional job. He applied all new stucco to cover the whole wall and matched the texture of the wall to the stucco texture on the house beautifully. The difference between his work and the work of the guys who built the wall is night and day. The new stucco looks thicker, covers completely, and the edges are slightly rounded (no longer looks like a poorly covered square cinderblock wall). It now appears elegant and what I had always had in mind.
Description of Work: Repaired stucco on wall adjoining driveway. Re-stuccoed entire wall (approx. 20-25 feet long).

When he was done I met him at the house and took care of businesses. The patch looks great and Terry matched the stucco perfectly. Need and clean. Terry is very personable and will definitely use him in the future.
Description of Work: I had an old smoke stack removed from the house and it left a hole on the side. Terry patched the 10" hole and resurfaced the stucco to match the rest of the house.

 + -1 moreHave a wall that is approaching 100 years old. Structurally in great shape but needed stuccoed again in the most desperate way. It was a real eyesore. Terry came out and in one day, patched and stuccoed the wall and it looks great! Very timely, professional, clean and pleasant to work with. All around great guy! Terry did a professional job, arrived when he said he would, and though he apologized for having to charge as much as he did for such a small job, his price was still much less than the job would have cost if we had used the plumber's plasterer. He was knowledgeable, personable, and the job looks much better than I thought it would!

We coordinated schedules, he was on time, and was able to complete the work in one day. Terry did a great job with the repair work, which included draping the furniture in the room and prepping the ceiling for new plaster. And he cleaned up after the work was completed. The ceiling is now in great shape for new paint. I would definitely contact Terry again for any stucco / plaster work that is needed.

This was a relatively small project (although one aspect proved a lot more complicated than we thought and had led him to believe), but he treated it with the same care and respect we would expect with a larger, more expensive job. He was prompt, and communicated very clearly the risks involved in part of the job to be sure we understood what we were asking him to do. He finished on time and within budget, exactly as promised. And it looks great!! Will be my first call for any plastering or stucco work in the future. You can't go wrong here.

 + 1 moreTerry is an exceptional craftsman and all around great guy. While demoing our house, we uncovered the original 1920s plaster fireplace that was covered by a brick facade and wood paneling. We also uncovered some original inset bookshelves coves that were missing their arched tops. Terry painstakingly restored all of this plaster back to its original condition -- including the arched bookshelves, the fireplace, and recreated a mantel that was removed at some point. He's punctual, professional, and just an amazingly talented and all around good guy.
