Carver's Plastering & Stucco

I found Terry Carver to be very prompt and professional. I called him on a Friday, he came out to view the project and provide an estimate the next day, and started the project that Monday. The job was somewhat difficult because stucco had to be applied between the various electric panels and meters, all in accordance with Santa Monica code. The city inspector came a couple days after the work was done and signed off on the work, ending a long difficult process with the city. Terry is now the guy I will call any time I have stucco work to be done, and I highly recommend him.

Terry was great - very prompt, gave a very fair estimate after doing a thorough search into the damage to be repaired and what may be the root causes. He was able to start work 2 mornings later. He arrived exactly on time - made sure he did as little disruption as possible, showed me what he discovered when he knocked out the problem areas, did a good job with the interior and then went outside and for no extra cost caulked exterior cracks that could lead to further problems with the window in the future. He started at 10am and was done before 2pm. He told me if I discovered any problems, to call him. That night under different light I noticed some rough patches - and the caulking around the tub was starting to separate after it dried. I called him the next day and he came right out the following day and recaulked and made sure all the areas were filled in and smooth. He even asked permission to take the door off and shave it down a bit so it wouldn't stick - all at no extra cost. He called me three days later to make sure everything was okay. Yes it was!! I am very pleased - Terry is very personable, very professional, very caring. He is my first Angie's List referral and I am happy with the results.

Terry Carver is great! He arrived on time for both the estimate and repair work. His stucco repairs exceeded our expectations and he left the job site clean when he was done. We have no reservations in recommending him.

We received a nit-picky citation from the city because of some small pieces of ceiling texture falling off, and given a month to repair it. Terry has helped us before and was our go-to guy. He came in, gave exact estimates and time frames relative to various options of repairs. We decided to remove the entire popcorn texture from a large room and a small room, and refinish the entire thing. Terry was flexible, and did the work on a schedule that worked for us. He was quick, gave us updates along the way, and the finished look was great. When the city inspector returned, we had no problems. One minor thing worth noting is that during the work Terry accidentally spilled some plaster on our driveway leaving a hard to remove stain. He told us about it before we could discover it, and came back on the weekend after the job was done, to clean it off for us. That type of professionalism is what I look for in a contractor.

Terry responded quickly to our request for an estimate and worked with us on a time that was convenient to our schedules. He started and finished the work on schedule and was very helpful and honest about what could and could not be done. The drywalling looks seemless. Most importantly, Terry takes pride in what he does and sincerely cares that you are satisfied with the job. This was the first experience I had finding someone straight off Angie's List and I am happy to leave Carver's Plastering another positive review.

He did a great job and was very professional. He is also an enjoyable person. If everyone I worked with was like he was it would be great! I would hire him again.

The electrician rewired my new (very old) house and left over 40 holes in the plaster. I called Terry and he came right over on a Saturday to give me an estimate. The house had been hit hard by fads in the 70?s, gold streaked mirrors covered walls, popcorn ceiling, and textured paint. He said it was a great place and would treat the house as if it were his own. And he did. It is just transformed. The walls are beautifully smooth. I didn?t even know they could look like that. I would definitely hire him again.

He was very personable, was on time, and did a very good job, especially in achieving a match with the older, smooth, English-style stucco of the rest of the house exterior, which I'm sure isn't easy to do. I would use him again in the future for other projects.

I had my back porch light moved, resulting in a hole where the light was and a couple holes from the new wires. I called Terry on my cell (I was out of town) and we had a bad connection, but he stayed with the call until we could hear each other. I described the work I needed and he gave me a quote over the phone without seeing the house, and came the next day to do the work. He did an excellent job. The following week I removed some wood attached to the house from an old patio cover and found the stucco underneath was crumbling. I called Terry again and he came during the same week and fixed that too. All of this was accomplished without a face to face meeting. I will hire him time and time again.

We had some holes in our exterior wall when the plumbers removed some pipes. I called Terry after finding him on Angie's List. He gave me a quote over the phone after I described the size and type of repair needed. He was able to schedule the work the very next day. At the last minute, I asked him if he could repair a long crack that had formed on the ceiling of one of our bedrooms. He was more than willing to repair that as well. His repairs were absolutely seamless. He was able to blend the fixes in with the existing surfaces. The textures were spot on. I couldn't have been happier with the quality of work. We've already discussed future work that might need to be done as I'll be having electrical work done soon that requires punching holes in my walls. I would without hesitation recommend Terry to anyone.

This was not a simple stucco "patch" job. I was converting an exterior wall from wood siding to stucco to match the rest of the house. Terry did a wonderful job. His work is 1st class. He installed the lath, laid the multiple undercoats and then the stucco. It takes a good deal of artistry to match an existing stucco pattern. Mine was not simple. It was a "knock-down" pattern that required multiple steps. Terry matched it perfectly. My garage looks amazing.

I called Terry after my do-it-yourself attempt at wall finishing ended in disaster. I made a giant hole in the wall of my entry way! Terry answered my call right away, made an appointment for the following Saturday for an estimate. He called a day early after finishing work early, asking if he could come for the estimate. We agreed on the price. He came as promised the following week to perform the work. It looks great!

Terry is fairly priced and very responsive and professional. You pay for what you get.

Terry came by and did a quote a couple months before we were ready to stucco. He gave us a reasonable quote for the interior plaster work. We went ahead with Terry because he seemed very honest. He was punctual, trustwothy, helpful with ideas, friendly and flexible. His work was great on the living room ceiling. The level of quality was professional, it looked great. He protected the whole space from dust and any particular needs we had, Terry addressed. We decided to continue with him for the exterior stucco work. Again, we were very happy with the quality and professionalism of his work. Terry was able to isolate the old cracked stucco, remove it and blend new stucco to match. We were very happy. Hire Terry, he won't disappoint.

His response time was amazing. He looked at the house and gave me an estimate that afternoon. He did the actual work the next day. He is amazing and he saw things that I wasn't thinking of but he didn't push me to add those to the list. I would hire him again in a second!

I have worked with Terry on many occasions and when electricians did some work and left quite a few holes, I called Terry. He came the next day, gave me an estimate and we scheduled the work for a few days later. He was on time and did the work quickly and professionally. At one point he noticed that the eletricians had not used the right sized box for the outlet so he drove to the hardware store and got the right one, saying it was best to do it right rather than have a wobbly outlet. While talking we also discussed my mailbox which was inexplicably leaking. He did some caulking on it and (hopefully) resolved the problem... won't know until the next rain. This is a long-winded way of saying that Terry can do just about anything that comes up and he is a real problem solver. I highly recommend him.

Terry was prompt in meeting with me at a time convenient for me (Saturday) to give an estimate. As the estimate was about right, we scheduled a time to do the work. Terry understood how I wanted the stucco to be finished (a "bull-nose" effect) and when the framing turned out to be wrong for that Terry stopped, called me, allowed time (couple of days) to correct, and was back out to finish the scratch coat. I'd also neglected to inform Terry that this was a permitted job (part of a remodel) and he willingly spent the extra time needed to meet with and accommodate the inspector. He also voluntarily patched up some other areas of stucco broken during other work (plumbing, electrical). At Terry's suggestion we located the name of the original stucco and the color match was perfect. The job site was cleaned up. We were very pleased with the results.

The job was done in a timely manner and it came out pretty good. But I had to match the stucco color with paint, it was to hard to get a good match with the stucco color.

We love Carver's Plastering! We found Carver's Plastering on Angie's List and are SO glad we did! Every time we have needed something fixed that is wall-related, we have called Terry (the owner of Carver's). He always does his best to come as soon as he is available, and he does superb work. He often suggests different materials to use for patching different parts of the house, and we appreciate his knowledge and suggestions because they are right on. When he repairs walls he is careful to make the texture of his patch match the surface texture that is on the rest of the wall, and after painting you can't even tell the difference between what he has fixed and the original wall. This is very important to us, and we appreciate that Terry takes the time to do it right. He knows his stuff, and this knowledge is very helpful, especially with older houses like ours. Also, Terry is friendly and honest, and his prices are excellent. He is a rare find in the world of contractors: someone who shows up on time, does a superb job, and doesn't overcharge you. I can't recommend him enough! We will never call anyone else for our plaster/stucco/wall repair needs. Carver's Plastering is the absolute best!

Terry was on time for all appointments. He had a number of suggestions for insuring that my objectives were met and that I would be satisfied with the results. He is a congenial person. The quality of his work impressed me - he matched the existing stucco pattern perfectly. He fixed patching work done by other contractors who did lessor quality work. I highly recommend him.

Terry was able to come over and give us a quote very quickly and offered to do the job same day. He was friendly, responsive and honest about what his capabilities were (which is always appreciated! We had a porch swing we want to install and he recommended someone to do it for us who had more experience and was less expensive).

The job went perfectly. Mr. Carver provided a prompt and reasonable estimate. Though the job itself was not large, it needed to be scheduled in a tight time frame. Mr. Carver scheduled the job at his first visit, arrived at the agreed upon time, finished the job within the proposed time frame, and did an excellent finish job matching the existing stucco. He left the job site clean and ready for use. He is an excellent plasterer doing quality work.

Terry wasn't the only vendor from Angie's List that I got a bid from. I also had bids from non-Angie's List vendors. His was neither the highest or lowest. But, his solutions as how to deal with the condition of my house and correct the problems were, for me, the best. Because of this he actually ended up doing more work than the other vendors. He was always on time. He had a good attitude and communicated effectively. He was happy and willing to discuss all aspect of the job. When I wasn't happy with the color on the first wall he stuccoed he went back and did it in double color--which made it closer to the sample and was the color I wanted. His assistant on the job was as nice as Terry. The work was done on time--actually a little ahead of time. I definitely will use him again on a plastering job I plan to do next year.

We called Terry to give us an estimate to repair the cracks in our bedroom walls that occurred when we had our floors leveled and house retrofitted for earthquakes. From first contact and on, Terry was friendly and professional. During the consultation, he offered sound solutions on how to best repair our damage and prevent the cracks from reopening in the future (thankfully, without sounding like he was giving a ?sales pitch?). He graciously worked with us to accommodate our desires to have the job finished quickly to beat the arrival of our new baby. He was always on time, cleaned up respectfully, and even took time to explain various steps in the process of repair when we showed interest. He did excellent work and we would definitely use him again.

Prompt survey of work and work/cost estimate. I know a little about stucco fundamentals, and I was pleased with the process description I was given. It was paramount to me that the patches be water tight and endure decades of weather and time. Second, the aesthetics needed to be right. Patch levels and texture needed to blend well with preexisting surfaces. These were things I heard in my meeting with Carver's Plastering, what I paid for, and what I got.
