The call was promptly answered a couple days before service was provided. A time was set. He called a couple times to confirm and showed up at the agreed time and got right to work. The job was exceptional. Not a speck of dust was left, nor was there any sign of discoloration in the walls where the new outlets were saved. Highly recommended.

Called 3 Electricians to lookk at my electrical panel for replacement/upgrade. 2x of the Electricians said the panel was fine and that it did not need any upgrading - 200 Amp panel. C&S told me it all needed replacing. Knowing that 2 other electricians had said there was nothing wrong with the panel I asked C&S why I needed the new panel and new circuits/breakers - I was told that the panel was corroded inside. I asked C&S to show me the corrosion and the owner of the comapny said said NO - The owner said I have done hundreds of these and it is corroded inside - I said it only takes one screw to remove the panel please show me the corosion and agin the owner refused to open the panel. After C&S left i opened the panel myself and there was NO corosion. This person is DISHONEST - Stay Away from him

I'm sorry the homeowner feels this way. Good communication is the basis for a successful experience. Unfortunately This WHOLE REVIEW is ONLY based on a 2 MINUTES CONVERSATION that the homeowner kindly gave me, and sadly didn’t give me a chance to complete even one full sentence…. I find it hard to believe that one can judge (score F) ALL my skills, professionalism, quality, price, responsiveness etc… in LESS than 2 minutes…. ??? Unfortunately he called few electricians to give estimates all at the SAME time. I didn’t get even get a chance to say anything about my business, my experience or myself, and asked to determine within a minute if the panel is Ok? (Yes or NO) and how much immediately while the other electricians are waiting in line outside. In the very short time I was allowed I told to the homeowner that to the best of my judgement this panel is old and need replacement. When asked why, I quickly explained in the very short time I was allowed that when the breakers are very old there’s very poor functionality and that it MAY be corroded. The homeowner quickly asked for a price and I said that I can’t give him a price before the utility company gives us a ‘Meter Spot’ as required by city code – so I could only provide a rough “Ballpark” The homeowner immediately politely thanked me and asked me to leave because the other electricians are waiting in line outside. 1. I find it hard to believe that a non-professional homeowner will disengage and pull-out all the circuit breakers from the main panel to check if there’s corrosion in the back of every breaker! 2. I found it troubling to see disappointment of the price (F) when I never gave ANY quote!!! - I gave a “Ballpark” because he insisted to “get an idea” of “how much”… 3. I found it troubling to see disappointment of the Responsiveness (C) after the homeowner acknowledged the fact that I was the FIRST electrician to respond.. 4. I find it troubling to see disappointment of the professionalism (F) when I have never done ANY work for this homeowner and He has no way to judge my professionalism. This WHOLE REVIEW is ONLY based on a 2 MINUTES MEETING that the homeowner kindly gave me, and unfortunately didn’t give me a chance to complete even one full sentence…. This is a very unusual and big disappointment to me. As a professional service provider for 23 years who work very hard to keep all clients happy, I usually receive from homeowners the minimum respect of talking and listening when we meet at their home. 99.9% of homeowners are very respectful and polite and will meet me for more than 2 minutes to answer questions and explain the work. That is the key to avoid misunderstandings and to make sure we are all on the same page. Again, I feel very sorry that the homeowner feels this way. But I’m confident that had I given the chance to go through some details this whole misunderstanding could be avoided.

Ray came over to give me a quote, and came back to give me an updated quote when I decided I wanted to change what I wanted done. He was very courteous and professional, and had good prices (we got three quotes for the work). The work done was high quality. The new ceiling fan and light fixture work great. Would definitely use again.
Description of Work: Ray replaced/upgraded our main electrical panel, replaced several old recessed light fixtures, replaced several outlet switches, converted our kitchen outlets to GFCIs, installed a new light fixture in our living room where there wasn't one, installed a new ceiling fan in our living room where there was no fixture, and repaired a non-working recessed light.

I had very mixed experiences with Ray. He was very professional and punctual in the beginning. The work he did also seemed to be clean. Unfortunately, he did not keep his promise to take care of the inspection. One and a half months later, not being able to reach him through email, I had to set the inspection in motion myself. When I finally reached him, I was surprised to learn that he was very reluctant to go through the inspection, stating that he would lose other job opportunities while waiting all day for the inspector. Having calling the dept. of Building Safety myself, I assured him that he could schedule appointment in two-hour intervals. Only then he agreed to come. On the day of the inspection, I was warned by Ray not to speak to the inspector, and leave all the talking to him. From my experience, I can only conclude that Ray is a person who lacks a sense of work ethics. Inspection is part of a permit-related job deal. If he did not want to go through the inspection, he should not have accepted the job. Moreover, to forbid customer from talking to the inspector, so he could have better chance of passing the inspection is extremely rude and unprofessional. In addition, he did not seem to have changed many electrical panels as he had claimed, otherwise he would have known that inspection could be scheduled in two-hours intervals. A word of advice from the first inspector: "In a permit-related job, never pay the service provider in full until the job passes the inspection," or you will run into the same kind of problem as I did. In response to the company's reply I am extremely disappointed of Ray's comment. Not only he did not offer apology for what he put me through, but to add insult to injury, threaten customers for sharing their negative experiences. What were the manipulation and dishonesty on my part? He was paid in full on the day the job was completed. The only problem was that he was very unwilling to go through the inspection as he had promised, and I as a customer had to do all the work to get the inspection done. A 5 star company does not do that!

Client was provided with top-notch work, Work is well documented with all inspection records and photos, same as hundreds of my other 5 star clients. I know Ray for 3 years now. He rewired my home back in 2011 and did a great job. Since then I have hired him two more times to design and install landscape lights in my back yard and to install a new chandelier. I highly recommend Ray to family and friends because he is a true professional, honest and always with a good attitude.

I decided to get rid of the old fluorescent lights in my kitchen. I called Ray and he removed the old lights fixtures and the old frame. He installed beautiful brand new recessed lights and I love it. The kitchen is much brighter now and it looks great.

It went swiftly and professionally.
Description of Work: C & S installed two separate electrical outlets for an indoor hot tub. Ray (owner) explained to me the options for routing the electrical wiring through walls with minimal damage. However, in the end, we discovered an easier, time saving route that would not require damage to my interior walls and with minimal conduit exposure to the exterior wall to the electrical panel. There were also 2 chandeliers installed perfectly. I added another exterior outlet for a fountain on the day and Ray graciously complied once the initial job was complete. His assistant was also professional and knowledgeable.

The electrical work was one part of an entire overhaul of the house. Ray and his crew worked with us and our other contractors to make sure we could renovate plumbing, heating and air, chimney, roof, plastering and new foundation work all within a month's time. He was unfailingly professional, polite and thorough. When our dryer outlet was installed (before the dryer had been moved from our old place), I failed to notice the outlet did not match our dryer plug. When I did notice it, it was the Saturday of the Memorial day weekend. Ray not only obtained the right outlet, he came over on the Sunday of the holiday weekend and replaced the outlet. As our new light fixtures came in, he made sure they were installed at our convenience. When we located the cooling compressors outside the garage (about 25 feet from the house) and the trench that was supposed to contain the electrical conduit was not the right depth, he delayed work at other sites so he could come back when the trench was ready to have the conduit laid and for the city inspection. Ray went far above what most contractors would do to make (and keep) a satisfied customer.
Description of Work: We purchased a 1928 home that required significant renovation, including upgrading the electrical system for the entire property. Ray rewired the entire house and garage, inside and out. He added switches, wall sockets, new fixture junctions and installed new fixtures, including ceiling fans. He kept to our schedule so that others, such as our plasterer, could come in behind him and complete their work, allowing us to move in in just over 30 days from the start of the project. He wired all the new appliances, such as the new heating and air units to the new breaker box he installed and he made sure everything was up to code so that we passed the inspection on the first try. He came back when we had still more fixtures come in and installed them, even though he had completed the rest of the job 2 weeks earlier.

Ray's a true professional: courteous, efficient, and he kept to his original estimate even though I required more services than I had previously told him. He was at my home for about 2 hours, and apart from parts, he charged a flat $100. Good man. I invited him back for some home remodeling I because I trust him.

I knew this 80-yr. old neglected house would need a lot of electrical update and had six contractors bid on the job. Ray's bid was the 2nd highest, but I was impressed at the careful and detailed way in which he looked at the house. He readily understood that while I wanted to be cost conscious, I didn't want to sacrifice quality or safety. His recommendations and suggestions fit exactly with that idea. From his initial visit to the house to the beginning of the project and all that followed, Ray and his crew were prompt and wasted no time. His crew was always efficient, courteous, professional, and pleasant to deal with. Any questions or concerns that came up were dealt with immediately. Ray himself is detail oriented and there were no loose ends or vague agreements. The work proceeded exactly as planned and finished when promised. All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend C&S Electric Co. You absolutely cannot go wrong using them.
Description of Work: Installed new 200 amp panel and all new designated circuits. Rewired entire house, removing old cloth covered wires. Installed 10 new interior outlets, 2 phone jacks, several new interior overhead fixtures, 2 new exterior lights, 2 new outdoor outlets. Removed old exterior amp box and very old interior amp box, moved overhead telephone wire, brought electric connection into garage from adjoining outbuilding.

Ray, the owner, showed up on time for our initial interview. His price was extremely competitive with my other bids and his professionalism convinced me to hire him for the work. Two days later, Ray and his crew showed up on time and worked together under Ray's guidance to ensure the work was done neatly and correctly. They stayed for almost twelve hours and completed the job in one day! I have nothing but great praise for this company and would definitely hire him again. Thanks Ray!
Description of Work: Install 200 amp main panel (new set of breakers) install service conduit and new service wires, install grounding wire to water line, relocate all circuits from old panel inside house to new panel, two outlets in garage, change switch in living room, install attic switch, light and 20 amp circuit and install 30 amp circuit for A/C.
