VEGA LANDSCAPE

I wanted to change my rating for Vega Landscaping for a couple of reasons. 1. From the time we were discussing estimates and at the beginning of the job, I informed Nick that the city's water rebate is very strict on what parts will need to used in order for me to get my rebate check. I even gave him a print out of acceptable parts list. He assured me he did what was required. Well, the city came and did their post-work inspection, and my drip irrigation system was not approved because Nick did not use the correct parts. That's $350 in rebate I would have missed out on. When I informed Nick of this, he even insisted that he did it correctly. But after explaining it to him, and offered to buy the parts myself and will even pay him extra to install it, he agreed to install new parts. However, when I told him I have the parts ready, he did not respond to my text. I ended up hiring someone else to install the correct parts since I had to meet the city's deadline. 2. I'm noticing grass and weed starting to grow back in my front yard under the mulch and rocks. I looked deeper and realized Nick's crew did not install weed blocker fabric on 2 planter areas, and just proceeded with planting. This is a great disappointment as it would not have taken that long or cost that much to simply lay the weed block down before planting. Now I will have to hire some one to re do those 2 areas, or else all the money I paid would just go to waste if the grass grew back. I know Nick informed me that he had under estimated the amount of grass and dirt removed and taken to the dump site, and it apparently cost him more to do my job than the proposal he provided me. I don't think that's a reason to do a sub par job, when it was his own lack of attention to details and/or carelessness in conducting his estimates. My initial review was true based on the information I had at the end of the job. I wish I could keep that rating, but was very disappointed with the additional work I had to pay someone else to do in fixing the issues mentioned above.

Nick is very professional. I got three estimates and he was the cheapest price. He had six guys on the job and got most of it done in one day, then came back a second day to finish. The team was extremely clean, polite, and accommodating. There was a slight misunderstanding in the proposal compared to the finished product, but he put customer satisfaction first and I was left feeling very happy. I'll have him back in the future to install our sod and some pavers.

Nick was WONDERFUL, PROFESSIONAL, PROMPT, and completed exactly what he said he was going to do. I was in a time crunch to have the job done so he even brought in extra guys to make sure we would finish on a certain date. In respects to price he also said he would match and beat and additional estimate I had gotten. I still have quite a bit of work to do in my backyard now and he has already offered me a HUGE discount to complete it as he is and was aware I was on a budget. I HIGHLY recommend him and will be using him in the future for sure. Even his workers were as professional as he was. Another really nice thing I noticed about his company was they started the work every day at 8 am and worked till 4:30 pm. ABSOLUTELY A+++ WORK!!!!!! Being a woman I have been ripped off by more contractors that I actually stopped all work being done at my home. Once the other companies became aware that there was no man in the picture they would up my price by a minimum of 3K to 5K. Nick did not do this and as I stated he even offered to beat any other bid I got.

Unfortunately, I never heard back from him. I emailed him about a week later and still no response. I'm assuming that my job was too small for him, but he should've contacted me to inform me of his situation. This is exactly why contractor's as a whole are given a bad reputation. Even though Mr. Vega had great reviews and has been a vendor in great standing on Angie's List, his lack of professionalism and courtesy should speak volumes about the absence of his integrity and character.

Nick and his company were great and always responsive, his brother ran the job and his crew was fast, clean and efficient. Very up front on when he was going to start and finish and when the pump was specially ordered, he kept me in the loop on when it would come in. Very satisfied with this company. I would recommend them and will use them again.

They projected two weeks and finished in 13 days. They were professional, on time, neat, kept me informed, worked 9 hour days and didn't disrupt any neighbors. They did use an electrical outlet in my back yard that quit working right before they finished and shorted or blew an electrical line to my pool filter and pump -- they did come back and look at the particular GFCI circuit and electrical wiring but couldn't get things working again, so I had to bring in an electrician. There is no proof they were at fault, but it did happen while they were there. This is the only possible negative part of my experience, but as I said, it cannot be proven that this was their fault versus something that would have happened eventually anyway. I have had at least a dozen neighbors and multiple FB friends both during and after the completion who have made it a point to compliment the entire project, which, while based on some of my concepts, was basically Nick's brainchild.

Nick was supposed to come 1 week ago but didn't show up. When I called about 1 1/2 hour after our scheduled appointment, he told me that he thought that he had taken care of us that past Saturday. So we agreed to reschedule for the next week. This time instead of waiting 1 1/2 hour, I called him 30 min past the scheduled appointment time. When I called him he seemed busy and asked to call me back in 5 minutes. Instead of calling me in person, he sends me a text message with a picture of his calender showing our appointment time as next week instead of today. Completely unreliable in my opinion without any further attempt from him.

First of all, Nick Vega answers the phone himself. He's super easy to talk with and very professional. He showed up exactly on time to meet with me and give me an estimate. I had gotten an estimate from another contractor but Nick's was the only company I contacted that would do all the work I wanted. He also came in lower than the other guy for just the sprinkler installation. He and his guys were great to work with, came on the day arranged and finished up on time. When there was a slight miscommunication about the boundary where the sod should end, he offered to come back and add a small strip to make it how I wanted it. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing sprinklers, landscaping or hardscaping work.

NIck ordered new trees for us, as the trees had a 1-year warrantee. He brought in a crew who removed the old trees, cut them into pieces and placed them in our dumpster, saving us a disposal fee. His crew then installed 3 new, beautiful trees. He has offered us advice for care and maintenance, so these trees thrive. As a small organization, we rely on volunteers for maintenance, so this advice is invaluable.

Nick Vega came to our house to met with us. He listened to what we wanted to do to widen our driveway. He was very helpful and explained what the job would require. We were very impressed with his knowledge about driveways and concrete in general. He was able to give us a bid at our meeting. We did have two other bids but both were a bit higher and the contractors did not listen to us. These other contractors seemed to think they knew it all. We picked Nick as our contractor for his knowledge and helpfulness and allowing us to communicate with him (and not the price). We are very happy with the job. Nick with his crew did a very good job widening our driveway and matching the new to the old. I would like to add, Nick and crew kept our property very clean and neat at all times. Also, made sure there were barriers around the job so no one would get hurt. Mr.&Mrs.M

We had a front yard that desperately needed landscaping, we had a budget of $22k, and we had no idea what we were doing or where to start - so we started with Angie's List. After diligently reviewing Angie's lengthy list of landscapers in our area we selected three contractors to engage in discussions for re-landscaping our front yard. Vega Landscape was at the top of our list. This was our first re-landscaping project and we were looking for a contractor that we could trust and partner with to design our new front yard. Vega Landscape was the first contractor that we met with and we instantly liked Nick Vega's demeanor and his professionalism. We were not quite sure what we wanted and what our options were in dealing with a large, steep slope but Nick was good about giving us suggestions. We felt good about our first meeting. Unfortunately, the reviews about Nick are true and he is not the best at returning calls and providing quotes in a timely manner. We ended up selecting our 2nd choice landscaper who returned our calls promptly, was very punctual and had better landscaping ideas. As IT Project Managers, we appreciated his follow through and although the price was higher, and the landscaper was somewhat condescending in his attitude towards us, we selected our 2nd choice landscaper. Luckily for us, circumstances prevented us from signing a contract with the 2nd choice landscaper and we put our project on hold for three months. Based on all the good things we had read about Nick, and knowing that follow-through wasn't his strongest point, we still liked him enough to decide to chase him down and give him one more shot. We could not have been more happy with our decision. Nick and his team were an absolute joy to work with and we have a new and amazing front yard thanks to Nick. Nick takes an extreme amount of pride in his work, and once you select him - he makes sure that every detail is reviewed with you, and he helps you through every step of the way. Nick went with us to pick out the elements of our hard scape and helped us make choices for our soft scape. He gave us his expertise advise when needed, listened and worked with our ideas and patiently answered our numerous questions, panicked text messages and late night phone calls. Nick was exactly what we needed and what we wanted - someone that partnered with us to design a beautiful front yard. Nick treated us with respect and treated our yard like it was his own. We made a lot of last minute changes, adding more plants and a fountain and he advised and guided us every step of the way. If you are looking for someone to answer your call immediately, and promptly deliver a quote and a nice project plan, go somewhere else. If you want to invest a little bit of your time and patience to follow-up with Nick, you will get a very nice, personable, hard working, honest partner who will do his best to give you his best results. Nick and his team are absolute first rate! Our final cost was over $25k due to the changes we made, and in the end we felt like we got more than our moneys worth with Nick! We are now waiting for him to give us a quote for our backyard, and yes, we will need to follow-up with him to get our quote, but we will not go with any other landscaper but Nick - even if it means waiting a few months until he is available, we know it will be well worth the wait. We also replaced our gardener and have hired Nick to provide us with weekly gardening services. We wont let anyone but Nick and his team touch our front yard.

Nick Vega came out for initial visit and left estimate for work we were requesting. We obtained additional quotes and eventually called Vega back a couple of months later. We explained to Vega that we realized a considerable amount of time had gone by but we would like for him to do the work. He said he couldn't get to it until August. We were okay with that and set up a second meeting to discuss the work to be done in August. Vega never showed for the appointment nor has he returned any of our calls. May be a blessing in disguise! For these reasons we rate Vega Landscape an "F" in all categories.

I am very impressed with Nick and his crew of HARD workers, they showed up on time, got right to work and took only a short lunch break, arrived around 8 and worked till after 5pm each day. They cleaned up each day when they left, leaving my yard looking great. Nick was always there to answer any questions, either by phone or in person. Took the time to explain everything to me. I have now hired them to take over my lawn care each week, so it will continue to look the way it did the day they finshed. From start to finish it only took 4 days. I wish I would have found them sooner, I am so pleased with the job that they did, and so are my Neighbors. My grass was awful and the sprinklers did not work, I used another company to fix the sprinklers, and what A BIG mistake that was, just wasted my time and money. The change from day one was amazing, and I LOVE my new lawn. Thanks to some very competent and caring workers. If you want your lawn done right the first time out, Please call Vega Landscape and you won"t be sorry. So a BIG THANKS TO NICK AND HIS CREW FROM MYSELF AND ALL MY NEIGHBORS--you have put a HAPPY FACE on all of us. I am so proud of my home now.

Nick and his crew did a beautiful job! I've tried for several years to get my waterfall just right and it always missed the mark. Nick and crew came in and it was as if he read my mind from the waterfall down to the last plant and flower. I couldn't be more pleased.

Came in at a great price. Good workers that did the job in less than a week. Very happy with the results!

I first contacted them around 4/20. On 4/22 he emailed to say they were busy and couldn't meet with us until Friday, 5/2, between 4:00 and 5:00. We left work early and waited. I emailed him when he didn't show up and he said "Sorry I did not put you in schedule". He suggested another time and we agreed on trying again on Friday 5/9 between 4:00 and 5:00. He replied in email "Ok, confirmed". We left work early again the next Friday and he did not show up. I didn't try to contact him again and I've heard nothing. I'm no longer interested in trying. All of our communication was in one email that we kept replying to, and I had supplied my cell phone number in the email as well.

We are completely satisfied with Vega Landscape and the owner, Nick Vega. Nick and his crew were great to work with. When I called Nick to get an estimate, he was able to be here within a few hours. We had a vague idea of what we wanted for our front yard and Nick was able to work with that and give us some ideas of his own. He gave us a rough estimate that day (Friday) and by Monday we had a drawing and firm price in our hands. We had a few other quotes but we liked Nick and his ideas and price the best, so we called him a few weeks later and hired him to do the work. The crew was here the next day to start demolition. They arrived every day (Monday through Saturday) at 8:00 and left around 5:00 with the area cleaned up. Every phase of the work was performed by his expert crew, from demolition to concrete, stonework, lighting, plumbing, planting, etc. We were very impressed that work was completed in a very timely manner - about 5-6 weeks - including a rain delay and a week to have our house painted before planting. Whenever we had any questions or wanted to make a change, we were able to contact Nick immediately. He was also here every day to make sure everything was going as planned. He met us at the stone yard and the nursery to help us pick out these items and his expertise in these areas was very helpful in making our choices. The new plantings in our backyard make everything look new and our neighbors have given us so many compliments on the front yard. We are so happy with the outcome and we can't praise Nick and his crew enough. We have also decided to have Vega Landscape do our weekly maintenance because they know the proper way to keep things looking good. Thank you Nick for allowing us to take pride in our home again.

Our front yard was a Jungle. It had been landscaped back in the 80s I think....all overgrown, very old looking hedges, lots of dark green everywhere, all jumbled together. A yard that made you drive into the garage to avoid seeing. The layout made it appear there was no frontage at all. It was just ugly. It took me years to figure out what could be done, and to save to do it. I called Nick. Gave him my ideas and let him have at it, he's the professional here. By the 2nd day, we had dirt...it was great. I had neighbors compliment the look of the front for the dirt. (that's how bad it had been!). They put in a new sprinkler system, new sod through the front and side yards. Near to porch low shrubs and beautiful bright colored plants were planted. The drainage was dealt with with a "stream" bed of small white rocks. It sets off the grass and shows off the colors of the plants. Brilliantly done. The scheduling was a breeze. Two weeks and they arrived, bright and early, each night after they left you'd not know they'd been here. They cleaned up everything each day. The entire property took 6 full days and they are just finishing up as I write this! I am that excited to let people know how good they are! I am going to have them do the yard maintenance as I know I could not find anyone to take care of their work like they do. A pleasure to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone, if they could fix this, they can do anything!

Nick was a true pleasure to work with. He and his crew were punctual and responsive to our needs. He was very professional and I felt he did not try to oversell the job to make more money. His crew was very knowledgable and hard working. He understood what we were looking for in a plants and overall design. I really felt this was an honest deal and we got our money's worth. Nick was a straight shooter and very genuine. I would recommend him to any of my friends and acquaintances.

It didn't--that's the problem.

Nick said he would email me on Monday never heard from

Nick came to our home to give us an appraisal. He looked at what we wanted. He told my husband that we would have a bid on Monday listing the components of work we requested. It is now Wednesday and no word from him. Very disappointing. We needed to get our bids in quickly to start work next week.

I have extensive rose hedges and ornamental roses that were badly infested with rust and many were deteriorating. Nick was prompt and spent sufficient time going over the property and listening to my concerns. He explained what needed to be done and how he would approach the problem. He delivered everything that was promised in a timely and professional way. The roses are already responding to treatment. I did not get other bids so I have no idea whether his price was on the high end or in the middle. The quality of the work is excellent. I highly recommend this company and will use them again if needed.

He came over we agreed and started service. After about three months I stopped and started doing it myself again. This year more surgery so I called Nick said he would be over next day 2:00 pm but never showed or called . I called back left message but he never called back. Getting someone else now.

The Vega team's hardscape job was a big success over 11 workdays in January. The worker's skills included tree & concrete removal, stucco repair, redwood fencing, concrete painting, & pavers. This work transformed a small, cluttered entryway into a spacious mini-courtyard. Then a backyard renovation of brick patio included a slump stone planter to match the wall. Mr. Vega visited the site every day & was always reachable by phone.
