+ 0 moreWe have several small to medium jobs that need attention and found Nick on Angies List. Other handymen have left us unimpressed for a variety of reasons, so Nick's professional approach was a welcome change. He listened, and after looking things over he clearly explained what needed to be done. We had been told by our former home repair insurance company that our shower couldn?t be fixed without cutting a hole in the tiled wall and doing major work. Nick replaced the diverter valve for a fraction of the cost quoted by the earlier company. The shower is working fine, and there are no holes in the tile. He and his assistant also repaired or replaced several hinges on kitchen and bathroom cabinets, reset and leveled our dishwasher, which we were also told would be a big deal but turned out not to be, plus they routed TV cable in our family room and adjusted a light that was too high for us to reach. We plan to have them come back to do some electrical work and other odd jobs from our 'to-do' list.

Description of Work: This job included building a gate, an overhang, and a number of other repairs. Nick built an overhang over a door on the side of our house. By carefully taking the age and design of the house into consideration, he produced a finished structure that looked original. The gate he built looks marvelous and works great! He also re-plastered and sanded some skylights that were damaged by rain--matching the ceiling texture perfectly. No job is too small for him and his partner, Shane.

+ 2 moreThe main gate was coming apart along every seam so Nick had to build a new double door gate from scratch. ?The workmanship was impeccable with the top and bottom of both gates coming together perfectly. ?The gates are sturdy and sealed for what should be a long life. The lattice extension on the back wall was built piece by piece to match existing work along another fence wall. ?It was bolted down to cinder blocks and sealed against the weather just like the gates. The?work turned out well and was completed quickly but with the same care someone uses for their own home so I'm very happy with the result.
Description of Work: I hired Nick to fix a couple broken down fence gates around the house and add a custom lattice extension on top of an existing wall in the backyard.

Our house is old and needed additional work in the attic; he recommended me to consider the work, but I did not get any sense of being forced to do the job. Very punctual, which is hard to come around now a days and he is definitely an easy guy to talk to, which is also rare now a days. I would definitely ask for future services from this company again.

+ 1 moreAfter a toilet leaked from the upstairs bathroom, I called Nick to repair the ceiling drywall and while he was here, also repair a faulty 3 way light switch and replace a bathroom fan and outlet. Electrical work went smoothly but the drywall ceiling repair went from the estimated 4x4 feet to 4x7 sq feet because of the water damage. Nick repaired the damage and re-textured the ceiling to match the the rest of the ceiling while finding a good match for paint. Overall, I am quite happy about his work and price. Will definitely call again when I need work done.
Description of Work: Repair ceiling drywall with texture and fixed faulty 3 way light switch. Replaced GFI outlet & bathroom fan.

+ 4 moreThe project took a little longer than Nick had anticipated, however, he kept assuring me he would complete the job to my satisfaction. There were issues with the paint color I had selected, Lowes changed their computer system, therefore the color I had wanted (to match the existing wall) was no longer available. Half the tile I purchased at Home Depot was a had a light pink tint, so Nick went to Home Depot and went through all the boxes he could in order to get all the same shade of tan. Overall the job Nick did was pretty darn good, my place looks completely different and I couldn't be happier. I think Nick went above and beyond and made sure that I was happy with his work.
Description of Work: Nick and his guys remodeled a closet located in the dining room, by removing existing doors and shelving, framed and drywall, build a partition wall, texture, prime and paint, install new shelving inside of each new section, install bi-fold doors into new openings. He also refinished the kitchen cabinets by stripping old varnish, sanding, priming and painting cabinet doors, drawers, and frames. He reinstalled doors, drawers and the hardware I had already purchased. He also installed a trim to the top of the cabinets and a baseboard to the bottom of the cabinets. Nick installed recessed lighting, he removed the panel lighting, touched up the texture, primed, painted coffer. Installed molding around the coffer, and installed 4 can lights. I had the carpet removed from the dining area, hallway and entryway and had Nick install tile that matched my existing kitchen and bath. He prepared the subfloor, tiled, grouted, sealed the grout and installed new baseboards. Nick removed my Formica countertops, installed plywood and hardibacker, laid new tile (6 inch tile) on the countertop, raised bar and backsplash. He applied grout and sealed it. Nick installed baseboards in the living room to match the rest of my condo. He installed a new sink and faucet and reinstalled my garbage disposal. He replaced a few valves that were no good, ran a water line from the sink to the refrigerator, installed a new range hood microwave, as well as install the appropriate electrical outlet. He installed a new thermostat and a new doorbell chime and switch.

He set up a time that was most convenient to me and my busy schedule. I described the type of doorknobs that i was looking for, and offered to pick them up myself. He told me it would be no problem for him to get them. He was so friendly, and very fast and efficient. He was one in 10 minutes! I am always so pleased with the jobs he does for me. I am a woman who lives alone, and doesn't have a man around to do these things for me. I would definitely recommend him, whatever the job may be. He is definitely a 'Nick' of all trades.
Description of Work: I had all of the doorknobs in my apartment replaced with key lock knobs. There were 3 total replaced.

+ 1 moreFor 23 yrs. I have wanted a cottage style picket gate in the front of our house. I found a picture of a gate with a bunny on it. Well let me tell you, Nick copied the bunny on that photo "Exactly". He used his scroll saw and did a beautiful job! We had a change in hinge selection. He checked all over the place until he found what we wanted. If you want a job done fast and done the right way, Nick is your man. This is the second time we had him do a job for us. I will be having him do more jobs soon. I hope he loads some photos of that gate so you can see it. It's spectacular! Thank You Nick!

Nick was professional and extremely knowledgable. He arrived on time and his price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family.

+ 0 moreNick had done work for me in the past. I lived at my residence for over 10 years and have never been able to park my car because I've saved everything of mine and my children. Parking is so hard to find in the neighborhood that I knew I had to utilize the garage for more than my belongings. I called Nick to take a look and see what he could do. Nick built shelves on one wall from the floor to the ceiling to the size of my storage containers to utilize the space. It worked so well, I had him come back and build the same on another wall. Nick also recognized empty unutilized space at the top of the garage and build a 8 x 8 unit that now holds all my Christmas decorations. The best thing is I can now always find parking!
Description of Work: Nick built shelves from the floor to the ceiling in my garage. He also built a shelf that hangs from the ceiling and is above the space where I can now park my car. The space above the car was Nick's idea and a brilliant one, I might add, since the space was large and not being utilized. I'm very happy to finally park my car in the garage and have all my things organized and easy to access.

Took the parts back to the job site and proceeded to perform the work. The initial preparation lacked protection of existing furniture but once establish it was covered and cleaned before moving on to the next location (fan). He was very thorough and meticulous making a point to do the job right the first time. He was timely and very easy to work with throughout the day.
Description of Work: Replace two bathroom exhaust fans (housing and vent lines), one exhaust fan motor and propeller, toilet flapper valve and troubleshoot and repair 3 electrical switches.

Description of Work: Nick installed curtain rods and curtains for us in the living room. He also completely assembled a six drawer dresser. He inspected some electrical outlets that weren't working and found it was a faulty breaker, which he replaced.

Description of Work: We had an old spa and kind of a wooden removable deck on top of it. The spa was partially sunk in the ground. Nick and another worker had to use some special equipment to get it out. They were wonderful. They took it to the dump along with a couple of other items. Then they picked up some free dirt for me. Put it in the hole that the spa left. Leveled the area for me.
