I got three quotes for this job and they were very different. Gustavo told me he was the owner of the company (hence GC for Gustavo Canal) so right up front I would save about $1500 in sales commissions the other companies charge sending a sales person over. And I was talking to the owner! He was right, the quote was at least $1500 less than previous quotes and he always went the extra mile to keep us happy - whether it was installing an extra new vent in the converted garage office for no charge but parts, to recommending his electrician when he heard we were also replacing all our electrical and saving us another $500 on the bid we received. It's a family company so super friendly and so professional and quick to respond to texts or emails too. It did take a little longer than I hoped, which was a little inconvenient as I had to reschedule some jobs as a freelancer to be home more days, but it was worth it because they were not rushing the job. They installed more vents, bigger ducts and took care of all permits, licenses and came to wait outside my house after organizing appointment with the inspector to sign off for DWP. They also didn't try and 'bribe' a good review out of me by offering a discount with the condition of a review and a sign in my yard - which one of the other companies included in their quote! And their price was still lower! I can see why they are one of the highest reviewed AC heating companies on Angie's List - which is why I called them in the first place! GC Heating and Cooling, Gustavo Cano, owner, based out of Bellflower, CA. We enlisted their services on Jan 18th, 2016. We had them install central heating and air conditioning to the whole house, had them remove 3 wall heaters and thermostats, and they capped off the gas line going to one of the old heaters. Guys showed up promptly, were extremely nice, polite, and hard workers! They informed us of too much insulation in the attic, said we really only needed 1 layer so we asked them if they could take the extra out and dispose of it and they said yes. They worked non-stop for 2 and 1/2 days and were finished in record time. Excellent work, no skimping on quality! I had them put a vent in every room, they added bigger vents in the living room and the back bedroom. They gave us a state of the art thermostat that I could sync to my smart phone, Very nice! They cleaned up everything so that you couldn’t even tell we had work done, and gave us the name of a patch guy, to fill in where the 3 wall heaters were taken out, and informed us we may have a rodent problem. We took care of that. Gustavo Cano and his crew did an excellent job. Gustavo is very easy going and a straight talker, he didn’t try to sell us anything we didn’t need. Jeff conducted a thorough diagnosis of the unit, and patiently explained what he was doing so that it all made sense. They're in the process of getting me a quote for the repair. The problem is the compressor, which is expensive and I'm going to do due diligence and get a quote from another provider, but I have confidence that he's being straight with me. He gave me enough information that I've already been able to do some fact checking online, and I think he's right.

Technician was professional. I could not be there so my daughter ( a young adult ) was home and she felt comfortable with the technician. He explained to her what he was doing and why, showed her the bad part he removed. But, he also called me and explained and discussed the issues with me as well. I have them on my First Call Repair List and have given their info to neighbors.

It went well. They could have coordinated the appointment time better and keep the appointment time. The price I think was good. They have great value but you need to follow-up.

Provided detailed info on replacement model, cost, and schedule to replace. (Replacement went as predicted and expected with no issues.)

Very well. Everything went great, it runs great, the guys were friendly and accommodating. If I had to give one criticism it would be that I picked up trash (scraps of things that were cut to fit) afterwards.

Very well. They showed up and performed the promised service quickly and efficiently. Cleaning of the filters was an unexpected bonus.

Juan was the service provider and he was professional, courteous, efficient, and informative. He told me what needed to be done for a repair that I knew had to happen - just didn't know what exactly - and gave me a straightforward price quote. The work was done promptly. When I had other questions (maintenance, overall system questions), he was clear and informative with his answers. He made recommendations as to what can be done in the future (preventative maintenance, future upgrades) but I did not feel pressured to do any work beyond the repair he did - in fact, I was the one asking him about those things. I will use this company again.

Absolutely perfect! We had a wonderful experience working with Gustavo, his brother and their entire crew. We have a home built in the 1950's, so we only had old floor furnaces, no central air, central heating, etc. We were very impressed with Gustavo and his brother upon our initial meeting. Gustavo was very knowledgeable, explained everything about the system, and his price quote was very fair. After receiving a few bids, we decided to go with GC Heating & Cooling. The entire crew was there on time and we were just extremely pleased with the work that was done. They installed a full heating and air conditioning system in our home; brand new gas furnace, air conditioning, air purifier and all new duct work. Gustavo is a man of his word and he is very trustworthy. We have had the system in since Dec. 23rd, and I have to say we are so very happy and warm! I am actually looking forward to the hot summer months because we now have air conditioning....a dream come true for us! We highly recommend GC Heating & Cooling. It was good. They were good. We had additional issues as he did the job. They did charge us extra. They had some other work at that time. There was a delay.

Jeff and Mark arrived on time and got right to work. They listened patiently to my description of the problem and the solutions I had tried. They then got to work. In short order they discovered the problem, fixed it and tested the system to make sure that nothing else was wrong.

all systems working, told me that even my filter was a yea old still did not need to be changed

Furnace and AC stopped working after I scheduled the service. Turned out the transformer was out and had to be replaced. Juan was great and professional. Explained what work he was going to complete and provided information during the inspection.

Both the office contact and field inspection were professional and pleasant. Juan checked general condition - dust etc, the fan & motor, heating assembly and thermostat; then measured CO levels & recommended carbon monoxide sensor type and placement. Melania and Juan provided good service at a fair & reasonable price. Would call them again without hesitation.

If they are this unreliable at getting back to me with a simple estimate, I don't want to know how it would go with them.

I highly recommend this company for installation of a new AC and Heater. This is a family business and they take customer service seriously. We have worked with many contractors over the years and this company gets our highest rating from initial meeting to final inspection. We got estimates from a few companies, but when you tack on all the ?extras? that we wanted in our system, GC was the lowest. They had no extras/options, we just discussed what features we wanted and we were presented with a quote. Throughout the job, whatever unexpected was needed for the job was included. Ours was a big job. We replaced our Heater and moved it from a hall closet and into the attic. (this was an unexpected bonus for us ? we made 2 closets out of the space where the heater came from (a bedroom closet and a hallway linen closet )). During the quotes, one company said there was no place to put our AC Condenser so they walked away. One company said it could only go on our upstairs deck, that would have been awful. Gustavo (the owner) was not just a salesman during the estimate, he was extremely knowledgeable about system design. He came up with two great options for location of our condenser and went to our city for approval ? they approved only one location. The install team was very pleasant to have in our home. The job was 7-8 full days. Their work ethic was unmatched and the attention to detail was superb. I didn?t even expect to get another light in my attic with a separate light switch near the entrance. Our system has 3 zones. Three bedrooms are on one zone, but the system was so powerful that the air blew too strong. When I mentioned this to GC, they came back and added a bypass line for this one zone to lessen the power to the bedrooms (this was another full day of work). The system is flawless now. It just passed city inspection today and I will now give them the final $500 payment I owe them. The system is also controlled via Smart Phone so that you can adjust the temp before you come home or from your bed. The system can be programmed to set the temp throughout a given week and goes from AC to Heat automatically.

Came on time, friendly, fair priced and fixed our leak. Excellent service.

You know how these things go - it's very unusual to get what you actually paid for, and have the provider exceed your expectation, but I can say with complete confidence, these guys are complete pro's and well worth the money spent. My technician's name was Juan and he was great. I knew nothing about my air conditioning unit and he took the time to explain what he was doing and why, and got the system working great so the air flow was much improved. There was no upselling, no pressure to buy something I didn't need - he just did what the deal said he would do. I totally recommend this company - if all of the technicians are as good as Juan, then it will be well worth it. I will use them from now on - very trustworthy.

This was a big deal purchase. It worked out alright. It ended up being more because I had them do something different. Their estimate seemed pretty expensive. They did not really do anything.

Our air conditioner stopped working. The service tech who responded was pleasant and professional. He diagnosed that the compressor had failed on the air conditioning and explained that it is difficult to replace just the compressor and have it work well with the evaporator coil so he recommended replacing the entire A/C and gave estimate of around $7,000 plus extra if we wanted to redo the duct work. We decided since it was a big ticket item to get 3 estimates on the repair. A second company basically made the same diagnosis and wrote us an estimate for an entire replacement at nearly the same cost but a bit cheaper. The last guy, who was older and perhaps more experienced, said it was not the compressor, but that the interior unit was not "calling" the compressor. It took him a while to diagnose, but he replaced a switch at the compressor and a wire, inside and the a/c has been working for about a month now, so I think he was correct. This only cost me $100, rather than the several thousand the others had quoted since they couldn't correctly diagnose it. GC was at least nice enough not to charge for a capacitor they changed out when I called the next day and said the a/c was still not working.
