+ -1 moreIn every experience I've had with George Salet Plumbing, the service personnel have been professional, courteous and efficient. Their work is excellent and the price for service a fair one. When I have need of plumbing services, they are the only ones I will call.
Description of Work: This is my third experience with George Salet Plumbing and I can't say enough good things about their operation. We bought a mid-century home which had been closed up for several years. On our very first day in our new home, the kitchen sink backed up as a result of not having been used for several years...I called, told them it was not an emergency, yet they were there within 15 minutes. A few days later, the bathroom lavatory backed up...again, the (same) plumber was there within an hour of my call and gave me a discount on the service. (calls are priced per job, not per hour) I was really impressed by the plumber's professional skill and pleasant demeanor. He gave me good advice regarding how to keep my drains free-flowing. This week I had a garbage disposal unit installed, which took quite a while, as the plumber (a different guy - same company) had to deal with my home's antiquated, original plumbing. I was impressed when the owner of the company called to ask if it would be convenient for me to have the plumber come by earlier than the appointed time. After finishing the installation, the plumber took the time to explain how to maintain my disposal in good working order, which I appreciated, and he didn't leave until He was satisfied that I understood how to operate my disposal safely in the even something should get stuck.

+ -1 moreThe owner (George) was very involved from the beginning with the estimate for the work. The two guys who did the work were very professional. They worked hard and it took an entire day, making sure everything was right. They didn't rush anything, even when they had another job after ours. After they left, we discovered a minor issue that had come up. We notified the company that evening and George called back the next morning to discuss a resolution. He was very professional and really went the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied. I was impressed that the owner of a large company would take the time to personally follow up.

+ 1 moreWe phoned George Salet because we'd used them once before and found every part of the experience to be excellent, from the office setting up the appointment, to the on-time arrival and professionalism of the plumber and the work completed. This time, our hot water was tepid. That was easy - someone or something had moved the dial on the heater and it simply needed to be turned up again. The toilet needed a major part replacement. We were given an estimate for the parts and labor and decided not to try to get another estimate or two. The work was completed quickly, and everything is fine now. I will definitely call this firm for any future needs.
Description of Work: Repair toilet. Analyze and fix cause of lukewarm instead of hot water.

+ 0 moreHamseh came promptly, diagnosed them quickly and gave a fixed price bid. He immediately diagnosed that the wet bedroom ceiling was due to a dripping diverter valve, not a leaky joint, and no ceiling work was needed. What a relief. It needed a specialty diverter that he searched for in 3 cities and installed the next day. He explained that the bathroom leak was from an improperly reverse-sloped piece of outdoor flashing. I fixed it myself with caulking. He broke the cable in his electric snake, trying to unclog the drain. He explained that since the drain had not been used for 2 years, the soft, porous clog had hardened and he would have to go in the crawl space, cut and replace piping for $1,200. We declined since we planned to remodel.
Description of Work: We called for three problems: 1) an occasionally wet bedroom ceiling (we were prepared to have the plaster ceiling ripped out and to pay thousands), 2) leaks during big storms in a bathroom ceiling and 3) a very slow drain in a rarely used tub.

+ 0 moreMy kitchen sink had stopped draining properly. When I called, I was told someone would be available within 1/2 hour. This proved to be true. The plumber was very good. He found that the pipe below the sink had corroded and suggested I replace it. He also inserted a snake in the pipes and cleaned them. He was very careful handling his equipment, covered the work area with a mat, cleaned up everything when finished, and was done in a very short time. I was very pleased with the service I received.

Inspection was this morning and it passed without a hitch. Would recommend them to anyone. + -1 moreMy tenant called on a Saturday to tell me water was streaming out of the building into the street. I called our regular plumber and he came and diagnosed the problem as one of our pipes rupturing but said he couldn't fix it until Monday. I didn't want to have water spewing out of my building until Monday so I went on Angie's list to find a plumber that would be willing to do the work on a Sunday. I was able to reach George Salet and they said they could do the work on Sunday. They sent a plumber over on Saturday to diagonse the problem before doing the work on Sunday. George Salet's plumber had a completely different conclusion. He said it was actually the neightbor's sewer pipe and not my problem at all. Of course this was good news. They saved me hundreds of dollars. My plumber was going to start digging up the sidewalk on Monday.

Ray said he'd arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 - and he arrived at 9:15. He checked the area where I was told I had a leak - and found none - just a stain from the lead that had been poured when the house was built more than 40 years ago. He checked the length of the pipe, and assured us that everything was very solid. There was no charge. I will definitely call again if I have any plumbing work to be done.

Found broken main valves, leaks, corroded fixtures, and rebuilt the Grohe shower valves avoiding expensive full replacement. 4 different plumbers had looked at the problems and missed the underlying causes. These guys are great!

Description of Work: We needed to replace our sewer - i.e. jackhammer the driveway, dig up lots of dirt, remove decayed pipe, replace with steel pipe, haul away sidewalk and old pipe debris, coordinate inspection with SF city inspector, replace dirt, lay new cement sidewalk, and powerwash driveway. About 3.5 days worth of work spanning about one week - was without toilet for about 3 hours total.

Description of Work: I noticed staining on the ceiling in the bottom floor of a multi-level townhouse. The plumber diagnosed the problem and using a camera was able to trace the leak up to the source of the problem, which was a bad weld on the original copper hot water line in a wall on the upper floor. The plumber cut a small area of drywall at the source of the problem and cut out the bad piece of pipe and replaced it with a new piece. He also replaced a tub drain spout while he was there.

+ -1 moreI called them originally to fix a problematic pressurized toilet. The guy from Salet made an adjustment but said they had little luck fixing pressurized toilets as they break down. Didn't charge me for the visit. Gave me an estimate on a toilet replacement (1.6 gallons per flush) I did some research, decided the Eco Drake at 1.26 gallons was even better. I called Salet plumbing and they had time that day. Two guys came and installed the Eco Drake and took the old toilet away. The plumbers were friendly and professional. Am very happy with the toilet.

Description of Work: Given doubling of my water bill in a 4 month period, I called in George Salet Plumbing to determine if I had a leak. After they inspected for a leak and determined there was none, they performed testing with the 2 other units in my building and determined that one of those unit's water (kitchen) was connected to mine! Excellent detection on their part. Subsequently, my neighbor hired them to 'untie' our lines.
