I called this company based on the review stating that the technician told the customer that the repair work was guaranteed and they would not be billed until their computer had remain fixed for a week following service. When I called to confirm that policy, the receptionist checked with a technician and told me that I would be billed if they came to the home, regardless. Since it is hard for me to receive calls, I asked when I could call to speak with a technician directly, but she said they would have to call me, according to their procedure. While the receptionist was very pleasant, I decided not to do business with this company.

Our policy is to bill for work donw on a COD basis. If a client is unahppy with the work, we simply ask that they let us know within 14 days and give us an opportunity to correct any issues. If the client is still unhappy, we will gladly refund as much of their service fee as they want-even 100% of the fee. This person did not even give us a chance to call her back to discuss her needs. It stinks that she would rate us as a C without even using our services, based upon her own unavailaity to recieve phone calls. If she wanted to talk to us, all she woudl have to say is when can I call you? We are almost always in the office before the work day starts and after the work day ends.

Here is the BEST part...he said I would not be billed until a week had passed and he had confirmed everything was still to my satisfaction. He said he GUARANTEES his work or there is no charge. I have never heard of anyone with such a strong guaranty. I am a business owner myself and know that the most important thing I can do. is stand behind my service. Edward arrived on time. he did what he said he would do and more, his billing was fair and he followed up a week later. I have used Edward for several years and when he added his guaranty or don't pay I thought he might be going too far in service, but he said it has worked for him extremely well. People are just as fair as he is. I highly recommend N*** 4 Rent.
Description of Work: Edward did a number of things for me. I had a worm which had disabled my entire computer. He fixed that and recommended and installed some FREE virus software that he felt could do the job as well as Norton. He then did a "tuneup" of my entire system. I am not very proficient in using some of my email programs and he showed me how to make better folders. He explains things so clearly and avoids geek language for people like me. He was at my house well over an hour and a half. He did not leave until I was satisfied.

I believe it went fairly well. The recommendations I received were not what I wanted to hear (purchase a new hard drive), but for a 4 year old computer, it was probably the right recommendation. The technician was very scripted in his responses. Knowledgeable and technically savvy, but seemed like he was following the "company line" for responding to my technical issues. Plus, the hourly fee for these guys is almost twice what is being quoted in the marketplace. Most organizations advertise $75/hour, and this firm quotes something like $149/hour (was given hourly rate over the phone, but I could be wrong, as I did not note it).
Description of Work: Researched to find someone that could diagnose and recommend a remedy for a very unstable PC. Technician was professional and seemed to know what he was talking about. This company requires that their technicals document every single thing that transpires. When I asked if this was on my "Nichol", I was told yes. To me, this takes away from the technical evaluation by having the tech document chapter and verse of the issue. I do not have a problem with documentation, as I believe it provides a trail of issues that when picked up by another technician, it provides a history. I just feel like this should not be on my time. I wanted to spend time describing my ordeal "just a minute, I have to complete this form" was the response.

I called Nerd4Rent in a panic as my PC wouldn't boot, I had a ton of photos on it, and hadn't backed up in months as I was switching to a Mac, but just hadn't gotten to moving the photos to it. Sonny (who runs the office) was very nice and clearly described their services. She gave me the option to have in-home service ($149/hour, 1 hour minimum), or to bring the tower to their office (same hourly rate, but only a half hour minimum). The latter was easier for me. I dropped off the computer mid-day, explaining that they could take their time as I had a Mac, too. I didn't need the data on the PC immediately, I just was afraid I was going to lose it. The PC was ready the next day, and I was only charged for a half hour's work ($74.50). They had fixed the OS problem, and done checks to make sure there were no other problems (viruses, etc.) Sonny made some recommendations regarding backup options. It was a totally satisfactory experience. Sonny and the nerds were competent and nice.
Description of Work: The OS on my PC (Windows XP) was hosed: the computer would not boot, even into safe mode. I took the tower to Nerd4Rent (they also have on-site service) in Lafayette. They had the work done in one day (even though I told them there was *no* rush). Besides getting the OS straightened out, the checked for viruses, etc., and gave it a clean bill of health. There was no loss of data.
