Service Champions Plumbing, Heating & AC

Pros: Customer service, same-day visit, cost, courtesy, ease of use. Cons: None. Would use again: Yes, absolutely The details: This is my first review and couldn't be happier. I called Service Champions because my gas furnace wasn't turning on. I changed the batteries in the thermostat, changed the filter and even unplugged it and plugged it back in, still no dice. Wasn't too pleased about having to call someone out but what are you gonna do. I called in and spoke with Roddy. Real nice guy. He coached me through what the cost of a visit would be, $67 or so, and that if any work was done the $67 would go towards the full cost of any replacement parts, etc. They were very prompt, scheduled a same day visit no problem, and showed up on time. I was a few minutes late getting home through traffic but my tech was smiling and friendly none-the-less having to wait a few minutes on me. Added bonus they called me 30 minutes before he arrived so I knew when to leave work, good for us that have to manage our work/life balance. Something I noticed throughout the visit they are very mindful to provide the best customer service and man they walked the walk. So Aaron Warner was my technician and did a fabulous job. Aaron was very kind, courteous, and knowledgeable about his trade craft. He even wore booties so he didn?t get my floor dirty and put down his own floor mat at the front door to wipe his shoes off even when I told him he didn?t have to. I explained the problem and he had my unit open and got right to the troubleshooting. He ran a full diagnostic and had the problem identified in no time flat. After finding a faulty valve and explaining the options, we agreed on the solution, he gathered the parts from his van and he had it back together and working just in time for my wife to walk in and feel the nice warm air again. Even after my wife got home and started asking all the same questions Aaron kindly answered all her questions again as I rolled my eyes. Five star service.

They talked me through the process of picking out the best unit for my home. I felt the price was a little high, but we wanted a slimmer unit so that might be the cause. They do provide first-class brands, but I felt I could of done just as well with a middle-range unit. I felt like they did a bait and switch with me too. They implied I had a free maintence service, but when I called them they said I had to pay extra. Due to this, I have turned to other companies for my unit maitenance needs.

AFTER they had given us a quote and started the work, they began telling us that all of our ducting needed to be replaced, and our electric panel wasn't up to code. It took FOUR visits by the county inspector before he would approve the panel they put in, and they just left the old panel sitting on the wall. The hole in the wall where they removed our old A/C unit was left open until I yelled at them, as they had promised to seal the wall. They gave us a huge, oversized condenser which was so large we had to put it in our patio instead of on the side of the house, yet the HVAC unit itself is undersized. Our neighbors have a house the same size as ours, with a larger HVAC and a condenser half the size, thirty years old, that works better than our new system. The AC didn't work from day one. They made three trips back and each time, the rep turned on the AC, put a thermometer up to it, and declared the system working. But after 2 or 3 minutes, when the cold air from the ducts had blown out, it began blowing hot air which it sucked up from outside. We had someone from another company come and run dye through the system, and he found a huge leak at a joint that hadn't been welded properly. We had gone through a very hot August, average indoor temp of 86 degrees. The company president came out and accused us of having someone come in and create a hole so we could get out of paying for the system!!! We had other family members here who have dealt with construction and home improvement, and after they argued with these jerks, the hole got welded up. Unfortunately, we are stuck with an inefficient system and will never call them for warranty/repairs. They even had the gaul to insist that we remove bad reviews from the Better Business Bureau website! We didn't. And now that we are on Angie's List, we can vent a little more. Stay away from this bad-news company !

Service Champions were fast, efficient and the workers were friendly.

I think the techs did a good job in explaining what they're doing. They took pics on what the heater looked like pulled apart, as well as what to look for. The contract gives me the confidence to run my system a little bit longer - it's 30 years old and on its last leg.

I had called the provider out because my furnace had made a terrible noise and the fan was revving until I had unplugged the unit. When the service men came out, they could not find any problems. The men checked and cleaned everything. No noise and works perfectly.

They say we need new ducts because there are leaks at the seams. After the first of the year, we will receive an estimate. It will depend on the price as to whether or not we have the work done. The duct were replaced a few years ago. To replace them again would be a financial burden as we are on social security. We'll see what they come up with. They replaced the furnace and air conditioner a little over three years ago. I think that the price was a little steep at $10,000. However, their service and professionalism is beyond reproach.

Out heater went out right as winter came along. We called Service Champion and scheduled someone to come out the next day or if there was a cancellation they will let is know. About two hours after that the front office called saying one of their techs got done early and is able to come over. When the tech arrived he was very friendly and professional. Told him the problem and he did a few test and found the problem within minutes. He showed me all the options for repairs. He showed me their Champs Reward program. If I became a member they work would be life time warranty. That just about sold me there! So went ahead and had the repair done, he replaced a part and removed the fan cleaned it and repacked it. Now the Hester works great! He also did a small token and gave us a new filter. Had such a great experience that today we had another guy from Service Champion come out today and give us a quote on removing our old asbestos vents and installing new ones, which we will most likely hire. Out of the two techs and few office people we talked to, EVERYONE has been super nice and friendly. I would without a doubt refer them to any friend or family

Excellent all-around. I used them once before for A/C service with the same results.

It worked out real well. They were here for a few hours. The gentleman who came out to my house was a former marine and he was outstanding. He went the extra mile. I signed up for regular maintenance. They will come out once every 6 months for about $15 per month. I feel that is reasonable. Overall, they were very accommodating to my needs. They treat your house well. They put on the booties before coming in. They were very polite and respectful.

They were on time. They inspected every part of the A/C unit. Cleaned and fixed what needed to be cleaned and fixed. Added freeon. Very through. Nice, knowledgeable service tech. I have them take care of all my heating and A/C maintanence & repairs.

I bought one from them about 4-5 years ago. They did a great job. They got in and out quickly. They cleaned up well and they were punctual.

Tech would not listen to ne when I told him the unit had a slow leak and was naking noise because it was oyt of Freon. Spent all day and replaced a unneeded part costing $250. Still couldn't get it to work right AND STILL HAD NOT CHECKED FREON LEVEL. He called his Super and they both came the next day. Told the super to check Freon levels. Wouldn't believe me. Half hour later he tells me it's out of Freon. He comp'd ne for the part and added 6 pounds of Freon ! $90+ per pound. Mosr places charge $35 per. He added dye to it to locate the leak and I was to call them to cone back later to find & repair leak at over another $1000. NO THANKS. These folks are very polite and nice but way over peiced.

Awful. These guys are as close to con-men as you can get. They have a very high pressure sales tactic where they bring in a "closer" - worse than a used car dealership. They quoted $6,944.00 for a system. I purchased the system from someone else for $2,500.00!

They did a great job. My mom had hired somebody else to put in an air conditioner and I found out that they put in an air conditioner that was mainly for a mobile home. She talked to me on the phone about it but I didn't know much about air conditioning when she did that. So I used Service Champions Heating & Air Conditioning. Since then I've sold the condo, because my mom has passed on. But I was real happy with the work, and I think it helped improve my property value because it was less than a year old system when I sold the condo.

The first time they came in they were here for 4 hrs. They put protective booties on their shoes. The serviceman came back on a Sunday. Every time they come to check, they are at least there for 2 hrs. They installed a new heating unit for us. They gave us a large discount right before Christmas. They come in and change filters for us. They are very clean, neat and thorough. I would highly recommend them.

I purchased an air conditioner/heater from Service Champions in 2004 and had them service the unit every year thereafter. After 5 or 6 yrs it began to get noisier and noiser so I requested a tech come out to see if anything could be done. After evaluating it, he said that maybe a blanket wouldf help but he didn't know for sure and the company would get back to me. They never did and I wrote it off to a life experience and lived with the noise. About 3 weeks ago, they contacted me via email to say I was a valued customer & could get the annual cleaning cheaper so I responded that I didn't know how I could be a valued customer because they never tried to fix the problem. Within an hour I recieved a phone call from a very pleasant lady who said they were very sorry for not solving my problem but could they please come out with a supervisor and their best tech to investigate the situation. We arranged that & after a thorough check told me that it was the compressor but they didn't know if anything could be done to fix it. The supervisor said because the unit was fully functional (just noisy) he doubted if Lennox would replace it BUT he would call and speak to them & IF they agreed to replace it, Service Champions would install it for free. A few days later he called and said Lennox agreed to replace the unit so when it came in, they would be out to install it. Today they arrived and worked for four hours installing the new compressor and it is very definitely quieter than the old one. It did not cost me one cent! I appreciate the quick response and professionalism by all the people I spoke to. My faith has been renewed and I am once again, a satisfied customer.

From beginning to end, Service Champions delivered what they promised. I never felt pressured by their suggestions or advice, but appreciated their expertise. All of my floors were protected by drop cloths, the workers were polite, clean, always put on shoe covers before coming inside, and cleaned up after themselves. They took the time to show us how the system works, how to operate the thermostat, installed smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector (which I did not expect). A small area of paneling was cracked when they were replacing it, but they sent someone to repair it the following week. Who does that? Nice work!

Initial inspection identified a rodent infestation that had eaten through many of the outlet ducts as well the intake ducting causing attic air to be forced into house as well as leaking cooled air into attic. The initial meeting detailed all that was necessary to bring the system up to par..... The actual technician who performed the work we punctual, professional and very warm and friendly. They explained there progress as they went. We were extremely please how well the technicians protected the work area and kept everything so clean..... The work took a bit longer that anticipated in a miserably hot environment. The gave us the opportunity of working well into the evening to complete the job but we chose to have them call it a day and complete the job the following work day. They left the system in a working condition before leaving. We could not even imagine how someone could provide better service than these fine gentlemen provided us... I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for AC or heating service. We have been under a service contract for the last year and will continue renewing.

They were professional, polite, and tidy. The day they arrived to do the work, they were on time and kept me updated on the progress of the project. They completed the work on time and left me with a fully-operating heat and air conditioning system, which continues to work as promised.
