Regal Woodworks

I hired Regal Woodworks (Sam Abdollahi) to provide new custom cabinetry and built-ins throughout my newly built house. I visited his shop in Brea twice and also visited another location where the residents were just finishing their kitchen remodel. All checked out and looked ok. We signed the contracts, made some revisions, etc. - all good. Sam seemed like a conscientious business guy - even called me to say the stain that my architect chose didn't look quite right on wood. So what went wrong? Well let me start at the end by saying he abandoned the job - as in no communication, etc. He left me short several cabinet doors and drawer fronts, some other missing custom doors and so shoddy of an install that I am replacing the entirety of the kitchen cabinets! This on a brand new ground up construction!! I will be filing a complaint with the contractor's license board and a civil suit in time. Back to the project. The problems all started post delivery and during installation. First - his installers are not professional installers. Awful - but I'll come back to that shortly. After his "installers" started, we discovered that the heights for some of the bathroom vanities were incorrect and one didn't even show up. Also the lacquer on the kitchen island was to have been high gloss - in fact, it wasn't (it clearly wasn't glossy lacquer because even his installers couldn't tell and installed some of panels outside in). Anyways, after the cabinets were put on my builder noticed that the grain on the panels didn't match and the color of many panels just didn't match or otherwise looked awful side by side. Sam and Regal tried to rectify this by taking back approximately 8 cabinet doors and another 5 drawer fronts to "correct" them. The problem is they never returned them! We tried to get them back to finish the job but no return calls! They abandoned the job if you can believe it. The cabinets are horizontal rift cut oak - so for those that know, it isn't like I could just replace a door or a drawer front and match the grain and color. Add to this other problems like - a) some of the cabinets not being square by over an inch (!), b) his installers nailed thru the finished side of some cabinets - and upon realizing it, just left the holes as is!!, c) more color/grain problems throughout the kitchen, d) other numerous problems with the built ins, etc. At the end we just decided that we would have to re-do the entire kitchen and will seek recourse at a later time. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM.
