The electricians Adam and Jordan did a great job. I was hoping to relocate one light fixture and they did their best to find a solution but were honest when they assessed everything and said it would greatly complicate the job. All lights are working and look much better than the old fixtures.

The two man team showed up exactly on time, went to work immediately after explaining what would be done. The work involved going up into the attic and also dismantling my outdoor circuit breaker box. They knew what they were doing.
Description of Work: My over-the-oven microwave was blowing the circuit, so Brea Electric was consulted about putting in a dedicated 20 amp circuit, just for the microwave oven.

Description of Work: Too two days. We had a new electric panel installed. More amps. House was built in 1956. They were very professional and knew what they were doing. What took the longest was getting the sce to come out and approve the new location of the panel. I am very happy with the work.

We canceled and got "Affordable Electric" to come out Instead. Affordable Electric ONLY charged my mom $99 for the repair (a simple burned out outlet). He told her it was a senior discount. Brea Electric wanted almost $2,000 to fix the same problem. (RIPOFF) BREA ELECTRIC seems to take advantage of the elderly *** BEWARE ***.
Description of Work: BREA ELECTRIC COMPANY gave my 76 year old mother a quote of $1,995 to repair 2 non-working electric receptacles/outlets. She was going to have them come out the next to make the repairs. She called me and told her to cancel (THEY WERE RIPPING HER OFF). They had told her they needed to replace a bunch of electrical wires in the attic to solve the problem. That is why the estimate was so high.

Description of Work: I needed an electrician for a bunch of small jobs at my house: replace bathroom lights, brace a loose wall outlet, install a ceiling fan with a remote switch, put a new outlet in the kitchen, replace the master bathroom outlet switch with a GFI outlet, replace a front doorbell and a back porch light. I already had all the light fixtures, fan, and the doorbell. Two workmen arrived promptly at 7:20 a.m. They worked all day, (stopped for lunch) and finished about 3:30 p.m. They were very professional and explained what they were doing at each task. They showed us how to use the fan remote and then they were done. There were a couple of "oops" moments on their part, but they took care of them immediately. I was very happy with their work, and have since called Brea Electric for 2 more small jobs that they will do next Monday. I would recommend them to anyone. They were very good, quoted a good price, and cleaned up completely when they were done.

He continued to eliminate the items on our list ... discussed what was best option for fixing or replacing the kitchen under cabinet lights. I was only interested in replacing. He went shopping, returned and was done in very good time.
Description of Work: Completed a list of nagging little electrical issues that have built up over time. Biggest item was replacing under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. Trouble shooting and repairing, replacement plugs, switches, etc. that had continued to irritate. Electrician was very profession and helpful. Very happy with his work.

Brea Electric sent over Terry who is a really nice person and is professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. He installed two motion sensor lights in front of the garage and tied them into the on/off switch so that I could control when they went on. He drilled the holes in the walls for the lamps, assembled the lamps, and installed them with all the appropriate wiring. He is not only friendly, but offers good suggestions for future projects. Several weeks later, when I had problems with one of the lights not consistently turning on, Terry came back and replaced it with a new lamp at no charge. Laurie (who handles the calls) is super nice and Richard (who is the owner) always calls back to schedule the appointments and make sure that the home owner is happy with the work. I have had Brea Electric work on my home for years and years and would not call anyone else. Electrical services in general can be costly, but I know that Brea Electric stands behind the work they do and their electricians are consistently polite, knowledgeable, and neat. Thank you, Brea Electric, for being a company I can count on.

On 12/17/2014 an SCE transformer short-circuited and sent 220 volts into my 120 volt house. The damage was beyond belief. We had no heat, no lights, no hot water (the penalty for having an energy efficient gas water heater with a computer controlling it). I called Brea Electric and they had an electrician on-site within two hours. Eric was professional, courteous, friendly, and he communicated to us the status of each step in the recovery process. He had partial power restored within an hour, and full restoration was only delayed due to a part required to repair our ancient circuit breaker panel. They had everything working in 12 hours and we are grateful to the owner, Rich Holly, and his back office staff and all his electricians for demonstrating compassion during the recovery process. Their work was extraordinary and we appreciate it. I would highly recommend Brea Electric for any electrical work, but especially emergencies. Their prices are fair and they do what they say they will do, when they say they will do it. You can't ask for more than that.

The company returned my call promptly and we set up an appointment. Eric, the electrician, was on time and he assessed that since the light fixture was so old I should get a new one. He asked if I wanted to pick out a new fixture or if he wanted me to do that. I said he should pick it out. He removed the old fixture and capped the loose wires. Eric offered to dispose of the old fixture but it didn't fit in his truck so he put it on the side of the house. He said he would call later to let me know when he would return to install the new fixture. He called the next day and said he wanted to take a little time to find the right fixture that would look good in my home office. He set a date and time a few days in the future. On the installation day, Eric came on time with the light fixture and two decorative end pieces to make the fixture look nicer. He quickly installed the new light fixture while patching some remaining holes from the old fixture. He also swept my office. This was a great company to deal with and Eric gave great customer service. It's so nice to deal with people who go above and beyond the job requirements. I highly recommend Brea Electric Company.
Description of Work: The company removed a 50 year old ceiling light fixture, capped off the wires, purchased a new light fixture, installed the new light fixture including some decorative wood pieces that looked custom made, patched up some residual holes in the ceiling, and swept and cleaned the area.

I would not recommend Brea Electric to Anyone. We had a horrible experience from beginning to end and we were even threatened with legal action if we told our story (Does Angie allow that?). And the craziest thing, Brea’s responses were often through email chains, not verbal. That originally led to a rather lengthy draft, prepared with a detailed timeline, quotes and describing everything on and off books. We decided however, to keep it relatively short and simply convey that in business you need to stand by your work, never assume anything other than the customer’s being honest and right, and do so while being professional - We did not get that from Brea Electric. Every single stage of this job was harder than it needed to be: scheduling, walk through, additional work for additional pay (Somehow a bad thing), decisions on additionalwork, permit credits, attitude, splitting work to pass inspection and later being told it was permitted, work product, work scope, warranty and lack of professional decorum. This happened to us and we spent $3,300 +…how big is your job? After the work was done we had 2 very small issue’s to fix from the original job. A buzzing from the attic and a bathroom heater that didn’t work after the new 200amp panel was installed. The buzz was called on, one day after the panel was installed as we worried of fire. It was later fixed in <2 minutes after nearly a week but, getting Berry (Lead electrician) and Richard (owner) to fix it took multiple emails, 3-way phone calls being 1st referred to a heater friend when they tried to blame it on a heater igniter (Our 60 year old heater has no igniter) + told “It was always like that” then accusations of impropriety… In the end it was an error by Brea. An error that took an act of congress to get it fixed. The buzz was from an old non-functioning intercom system incorrectly re-wired to a 50 year old transformer, a mistake, yes a mistake that took 2 minutes to repair on a $3,300 job. All that stress to fix something they were 100% responsible for… How big is your job again? With a warm summer ending the 2nd issue presented a short time later. But, as luck would turn out, Berry turned that same heater on before the job commenced, actually commenting on the “1st use of the year heater coil smell.” The stress resumed again- emails, and the back and forths- I emailed why are you being so belligerent, the buzzing was your fault and it took less than 2 minutes to repair and this was something small again... Tired of it we simply said no more 3 way calls, just fix it or have someone out to fix it. Instead of spending another 2 minutes to repair the 2nd issue he said no, work was not done in the bathroom, cc and threatened me with his lawyers information, if I wrote an inappropriate review. The issue wasn't in the bathroom it was in the wiring in the attic (how you access the bathroom heater) All panel wiring during service upgrade was accessed from the attic… In a reply we fired Brea and told them never to threaten/ contact us again. Our lawyer advised Administrative remedy would protect our opinion (Do we need a lawyer or that knowledge to use or post a review on Angie’s?). In conclusion, I don’t expect Brea Electric/ Richard to take ownership of anything. We expect quite the opposite, not only do we expect to be blamed for everything - but we are expecting further retaliation to maintain the Angie volume. We hope we’re wrong but here we are. Although we do demand accountability, customer service and professionalism we actually believe that we were the perfect customers, yes, perfect. We spent more money during our Job, paid on time, in cash and promised 2x-3x more business in the future + offered the guys sodas and lunch during the job. I honestly hope Brea was just having a bad month/quarter but it doesn’t make me feel any better about what we’ve experienced, what we’ve spent, repairs that still need to be done, the new electrician we need to find or what happens if any of Brea’s other work needs repairs. Unhappy Client.

Richard came out on a Saturday, even leaving his son's tournament, for emergency service when we lost power to our kitchen electricity, including the refrigerator. Richard was kind and professional and ensured that our electricity was working well when he left our house. We are hiring him to return to complete the rest of our electrical needs. We were concerned that we might need whole-house rewiring due to the age of our house, but he assured us that we only needed more targeted work to be done to make the electrical in the house safe and usable for many years to come. We appreciated his honesty about the true needs of our house instead of gouging us for a whole-house rewiring. We would highly recommend the work of his company.

This woman would rely on her husband to make repairs around the house. she is now widowed and wasn't sure where to turn. I was happy to offer her a senior discount and get her circuits back on immediately. I have seen other contractors take full advantage of people in these situations by charging them multiple times the fair value of the job. It feels good to do the right thing.

We couldn't be happier with their service from start to finish. They arrived at the scheduled time ready to add an additional outlet to our pool deck. Well my husband was home this time, and wanted the outlet in a completely different spot with a different mounting than we initially planned. Luis, bless him, walked the entire job again and was able to be creative and do all of the changes patiently and for the same price. Very impressive customer service. He also elevated our questions regarding some complex future work to the owner of the company and he got right back to us and brainstormed several solutions. We can't recommend Brea Electric enough.
Description of Work: We have a 23 year old home with many recently added upgrades including a waterfall, extensive landscaping, and tons of lighting covering 3/4 of an acre. The problem is the electrical panel is original and couldn't handle all of the exta load. Whenever we would have a party and have everything on at once, something would inevitably go out and good luck finding the circuit when you're panicking. (We had a backyard wedding, and the oven went out 3 times!) On top of this we still want to add a refrigerated wine room as well as more outlets.Several random contractors have looked at the panel and said our only option was to add an additional one. We knew that would be really expnsive and procrastinated as long as possible. Heard from a friend that they were happy with Brea Electric. I called them and advised of the above. They said they would have someone out within the hour. They did. 45 minutes later-seriously-Luis arrived. Professional, polite, and extremely knowledgable. I asked him to bid the cost of a new panel. He should have thought he hit the jackpot and written it up and called it a day. Instead he listened to exactly what I wanted, inspected the panel as well as the entire yard and sub panels, and came up with a plan to maximize the existing panel without having to add an entire new one. He was able to take care of a few upgrades right on the spot as he had what was needed in his truck and promised to followup with a detailed bid on the rest of my concerns. I received a call and an email of a detailed bid the same afternoon. It was very reasonable and detailed. I scheduled the work for the following week.
