I should have thought to review Mitch on Angie's List years ago. When we moved into our house the driveway gates only operated with a clicker - we didn't have an intercom/remote system. Mitch serviced the old system and when we re-did our driveway we had him install a system with sensors so the gates opened automatically when a car was leaving and we could communicate through an intercom and open/close the gates and pedestrian door via our phone system. He did a beautiful job. He's amazingly responsive when we need something serviced - for example, when I hit the reflector with my car and broke it, and when we realized, during a power failure, that we had lost the key to operate the gates manually. He's super reliable, and we've worked with him for ten years now without anything ever being less than perfect.

Estimate was $6,750. I received several estimates from other companies, some lower, but this was just a job to them. Mitch was cheerful & creative. He could see that because of my disability, this job had to be done right. Both high & low power electrical circuits also had to be run. After several electricians gave me estimates in the thousands of dollars, Mitch sent an electrician who charged $823.97 for this part of the job. Mitch's final price was $250 higher than the estimate, but it was required to prepare a concrete pad for the electrician. I've called Mitch several times since that first install. He carries everything he needs in a well-stocked van, so there is no waiting for parts or some special tool. He has even done welding for me. Mitch honors warranties & he is unfailingly cheerful.

We had Mitch repair our driveway gates when we first moved into the house, and he had explained to us how the automatic trigger mechanism (which goes under the driveway and makes the gate open automatically when you drive up to it) works. When we re-did our driveway we had him install extensive wiring, phone lines and sensor loops. It works perfectly. When we have problems with our gates we call him and he always comes out and fixes it the same day.

Since each gate is custom made, it took about month for them to fabricate both gates the drive way gate is quite long, and the pedestrian gate has a curved top. We were working with a paving stone company and they coordinated the electrical installation (conduit) with Mitch. Later, we had a problem with the clickers not activating the driveway gate until we were right next to it. Mitch stopped by the next day and installed a larger antenna on the motor. We really like both gates for beauty, privacy and now we don't have to get out of the car to open/close the gate! (Note: We chose not to have California Electronic Gates stain/seal the redwood or paint the frame. They primed the frame for us, and we painted/stained the metal/wood shortly after installation.)
