Perfectly. They do their own work and take great pride in the work they do. Have to arrange drops and pickups by noon, is the only item to work around.

It was a pleasure to work with the owners of Tulanian Rugs. Their communication was excellent. My rug was fairly soiled. It was last professionally cleaned 10 years ago by another company with poor results. Tulanian revived the color of my Gabbeh rug and removed a stain. I will definitely use them in the future.

They did a great job. It was quick. I had gotten the rug in a sale, and it came back virtually spotless and brand new. The price was very reasonable. The employees were great. The quality of service was great.

I just wanted to add my +1 to all the great reviews for Tulanian because they deserve it. I'm so glad I found them on Angie's List and wish I had done so sooner. I have a Gabbeh rug that our aging kitty had peed on one too many times and I rolled it up and swore to find a cleaner who would take it in. Knowing we had a moth problem I rolled it up tight and stuffed each end with plastic and put moth balls in it to boot. Six months later I finally looked on Angie's List and found Tulanian and went to take it in. I was horrified when I discovered it was teaming with those evil creatures - moth larvae. Anyway, I took it over to Tulanian and when they came to the door I told them my tale of woe, I didn't even want to bring my infested rug into their store. They were unphased by the damage, they've seen it all before and said they would do their best and it would take about a week. The quote for my 5x8 rug was $140 which was very reasonable - I would hazard a guess that it was almost half what I paid to another place in Berkeley many moons ago. The rug was available just over a week later and I picked it up last week. They did a great job and although the damage is sickening it doesn't look nearly as bad as I imagined. I'm so glad that I didn't follow my impulse at the time and just bundle it up and stick it in the trash. They also gave me a ballpark for doing a repair of the damage areas but warned it would still be noticeable. For now I'm just going to stick with living with the ball spot as a reminder to never leave a rolled up rug waiting for cleaning - just take it over to Tulanian and you wont be sorry.

Made arrangements, for a small fee, to pick up and deliver three Asian Rugs I wanted cleaned when it was going to be difficult ,because of my work schedule, to get to their shop. Once they were contacted from Angie's list, they responded back quickly and I was very satisfied with their work. The cost was reasonable and less then I was expecting and the workmanship good.

The experience was topnotch throughout. One of the rugs required repair, due to binding coming loose from years of use. Tulanian's made the repairs, and I have a difficult time finding the mended area. The rugs were washed with no harm to color or texture -- a delightful contrast to an early experience with another rug cleaner who used a detergent that caused the colors of a prized carpet to bleed, effectively ruining it. The rugs were picked up by Tulanian's truck at the time that they said they would come for them. They carried them up from the lower floor to the street and down from the upper floors. It seemed to happen in a flash! I received a call a few days later from their office to verify the repairs that we had requested to the carpet bindings. They acknowledged they could not replace some of the fringes ... because it would have been impossible to match the color and texture of the antique carpets. But the areas that were mended were nearly invisible and seem as sturdy as the original work. The rugs were brought back to San Francisco within the time that Tulanian's had estimated for the washing, drying and mending to occur. The crew brought them into our new home on schedule -- actually, a few minutes before the time we had set for them to arrive. They advised us on how best to situate the rugs in one room that was of an awkward size. They helped move furniture as needed, cut and laid down the new padding, rollled out the rugs, eliminating ripples and ensuring they were parallel to the walls and otherwise exactly placed. Then they took all of their tools, materials and excess padding away, leaving our beautiful rugs installed exactly as we had hoped. As you can tell from this review, we were VERY pleased!

I found H. Talanian Rugs on the Bay Area Angies list with A ratings. The Talanian family still owns and runs the business on College Avenue Berkeley that was started in 1922. I talked with Ms. Jane Tulanian on the phone, explained the problem and she said to get the rugs in ASAP to prevent further deterioration. When she and her brother examined the rugs (he was very helpful in taking them out of my car for me) they told me that the bleeding was irreversible, but they could absolutely stop and eliminate the mildew. When I picked the rugs up two weeks later, two of the rugs were perfect and the two that had bled looked presentable. I knew they could never be returned to their previous state, but I had feared they would be unusable. They are OK. Very professional. Good value. Pleasant to do business with. I will definitely use again

I decided to have the work done there and to save some money I elected to drop off the rug myself instead of having it picked up. I was able to park right across the street and Gary transported the rug on a dolly into their facility. He gave me an estimate for the cleaning and his sister called a week later to give me an estimate on the repairs, which I decided to go ahead and do. I found both of them to be very knowledgeable and easy to work with and I absolutely recommend this company for anyone with a valuable old rug that needs cleaning and/or repair.

I have a Persian rug which had not been cleaned in years, and which was visited by my daughter's puppy over the holidays. I dropped the rug off at Tulanian Rugs in Berkeley. After hand cleaning by Tulanian, the carpet shows vibrant colors not seen before, has a lovely soft texture, and smells good.

They were punctual, and professional. The carpets came back beautiful - the colors are much more vibrant and they are fuller than when they left. The expense was worth it. Would definitely use them again.

Tulanian's truck arrived to pick up the carpets on the appointed day a few minutes before the time we had agreed upon. The carpets were removed professionally and with care. No specific completion date was promised, although I was asked to call within a week to get a report on the repairs that would be required. When I did so, there was a bit of confusion at the shop, but in short order they determined which carpets I was inquiring about and gave me a report on the work intended. I authorized the repairs, although there was not a meeting of the minds. The Tulanian representative undertook to repair a portion of one of the carpets that had been heavily used and was fraying. I understood that they would not only repair that problem (which they did in very acceptable fashion. It is almost impossible to see where the repairs were made), but also I understood that in those places where the fringes had been worn away, they would be replaced. I had not fully understood the complexity of such a request and the near impossibility of adequately replacing matching fringes. Subsequently, Tulanian's called to say the work was completed, and we arranged for redelivery. When the carpets came back from the workshop (somewhat before the scheduled time on the due date), they were very clean, entirely odor free, and without Tulanian-caused damage of any kind. (This was quite by contrast with earlier cleaning we had had done by shops in San Francisco, one of which had ruined a $13.000 Kashan by washing it with detergent that caused the ancient dyes to run.) We were very pleased, and when Mr. Tulanian explained to me that the fringes had not been replaced because of the impossibility of matching handmade fringes, I was satisfied that the work had been done as well as possible. Mr. Tulanian and his assistant helped my spouse, a friend and me to replace the carpets and reset the furniture, converting a major task into a reasonably brief and almost fun experience. We were very satisfied with the service, both as to the cleaning itself and the physical aspects of removing and replacing the carpets. This firm is NOT inexpensive, but their service was well worth the cost, whether your carpets are valuable as collectibles, mementoes or both.

We would recommend them to others. They are fantastic. We liked the fact that they took an interest in a particular rug that I have that belonged to my grandmother that was really fragile. We talked to the woman and she said that it was such a beautiful rug and they cut it down and made another rug out of the salvaged bit, so we think they really care about what they do. They do excellent work and they are super punctual. They come and pick up the rugs and bring them back in a good time frame and they work with us around our moving date and it was perfect. It is a family run business, they are all family and they love what they do, they are carpet people. They are great. They do restoration and they are artists in their field. We spent maybe $3000 on that service. The price was fine because there is nobody else that does the work they do, they hand wash all the carpets. There is nobody like them in the Bay area.
