Description of Work: They replaced the kitchen faucet. I had gotten an estimate from another firm that pushed us to use one of the faucets that they had in the truck. Pelican suggested that we go out and purchase something that we knew we would like and then have them come install it. It was not a complex job, but their plumber did it well, and in just under an hour. They were honest and efficient.

+ -1 moreI had tried to remove the old kitchen faucet but it had a very tight locknut that I could not budge. Dino from Pelican was able to remove it and installed the new faucet within one hour. I have used pelican in the past and they are always punctual. They know how to schedule their crews.

Description of Work: Have an old leaking toilet. Some of the parts are not available anymore. Plumber adjusted the valve as best he could and replaced flapper with a generic one he had in his truck which we thought would work. We discussed possible future replacement of toilet, and with his help I was able to investigate one that would work well in the bathroom. After he left toward the end of the next day...the toilet was still leaking a little because of the flapper. Called plumber and he went directly to a Kohler dealer and bought a flapper that was still available for my toilet model. He came right away and installed it,.. and again adjusted the valve. With the correct the Kohler flapper the leak stopped. The Valve still needed some minor experimental "twicking" which I was able to do myself, and this old toilet is still working. The issue of not buying a new toilet was that Kohler no longer manufactures toilets in a chocolate-brown color and the rest of the fixtures in the bathroom are chocolate-brown. |Generally speaking I highly recommend this plumbing service. They try and work with your situation. They don't try and just sell you something else. They are timely, and honest. I will hire Pelican Plumbers again if I need them.

+ -1 moreIt went real well. He ended up charging us only $150 for the whole thing which took at least an hour. Workmanship was excellent and he was very polite and respectful of our kitchen and the surroundings. Pelican Plumbers is awesome!!!!!
Description of Work: Jason came out, diagnosed the kitchen faucet problem as a broken cartridge. He tried to find a replacement but couldn't since it was a rare faucet. Fortunately I had bought a new one at Home Depot in the event that the old one was shot and Jason found time later in the afternoon to come back and install it. And he cleaned out a bathroom drain for us too!

+ -1 morePelican was great to work with. They gave us an estimate via email very quickly and answered our questions. They were not the cheapest estimate we got but they definitely were not the highest and they were very easy to deal with. The job took them about a week and when there was an issue with one of the water heaters after they left they came right back out to fix it and checked the water temperature in every tap - our shower was weirdly cold, they fixed it. Great guys and we will definitely use again. My only complaint was that they trampled a couple of my plants and broke some lattice that was blocking off the crawl space. Not really a huge deal but still annoying. They also tore down but did not haul away this little shed that our old tanked heater was in. We looked back over the quote and the haul away was not listed so I guess we should have had them call that out in the bid. Overall, I recommend them!

+ -1 moreEverything went very smoothly. They arrived as promised, took care of all the permitting paperwork and installed them properly. They then took the time to explain to us how the mechanism worked and what to do if they need to be reset. I have since used them on another project in town and again they did good work repiping a gas line.
Description of Work: We had 12 automatic gas shut off valves installed for our apartment building. They gave an estimate, got all the permitting and installed them all in one day. We installed the devices under the seismic retrofit program that Berkeley has, and were reimbursed by the city for most of the costs.

+ -1 moreThey did a good job. The sump pump was especially difficult given its location at the bottom of a slope in the driveway. It needed to be placed at just the right angle in order to not cause a safety issue and this required them to do do a lot of extra work creating the proper seating for it. There were also some complicated issues getting the drain out to the street. I liked the way they cooperated with me to do the work correctly. Despite the extra time and effort it took, they did not charge more than the contracted price.
Description of Work: They replaced a sewer lateral line which was required by law because I was selling my home. They also installed a sump pump because the storm drain could no longer empty into the sewer and rain water needed to be pumped out to the street.

He needed some parts not readily available, so he drove into Berkeley to the Sink Factory on a busy Friday afternoon to get the parts. He did not charge us for the drive time. He returned and repaired both faucets. Total time with trip was more than 3 hours.. He charged us for 1.5 hours plus parts.
Description of Work: repaired broken shower faucets. One of the faucets would not turn the water off.

Unfortunately, my house's pipes are not easy to get into - no cleanouts anywhere before they dump into the city sewer line, so it's pretty much going through the tub/sink or nothing. When I called Pelican Plumbing about installing a cleanout, they were able to schedule me within two days. Since it wasn't terribly urgent, I had them come in a week later on a more convenient day to me. The plumber that came in to assess the situation was knowledgeable and opinionated, and scheduled the actual work for two days later. When that day came, everything went really smoothly. The plumber came in right on time, finished up the work in a couple of hours, and demonstrated everything to me. I haven't had a problem with my drains since. Thanks Pelican Plumbers!

Description of Work: A toilet seal had come loose and the unit needed to be re-seated. The plumber was early (called first to make sure that was convenient), quickly and cleanly pulled the toilet, removed the old beeswax seal, and replaced it with a new. He also gave us good advice about DIY repair to our in-counter water filtration system. He also at our request measured the water pressure head from the city hook-up, and gave us an estimate of the cost to install a pressure reducing valve to protect our older pipes. While he did not advise -against- having that installed, he did not attempt any sort of hard sell either. We will probably not follow through with that repair.
