Six weeks ago, my wife and I bought our first home. During this time, we have interviewed more than 30 contractors and have happily worked with 7 contractors on issues ranging from roofing, electricity, plumbing, tiles, chimney, windows, and pest though I have yet to write an Angie's List review - mostly due to laziness and being satiated. My experience today has inspired me to write a review. My first red flag with Mark should have occurred he showed up at my place several weeks ago very peeved about a previous client that had rubbed him the wrong way. I didn't think anything of it. Second red flag: after submitting a bid, he was very nonchalant about when he could begin working. After several emails to track down a time, he said "third or fourth week of March." When the third week of March came around - and I heard nothing - I reached out to see if he was still interested in the job. Enough time had passed that it did not seem like he even understood what the job entailed any more and agreed to come back to the house to look things over a second time. He came this afternoon and it was apparent that the scope of work that he thought was necessary was in fact not at all what was needed to be done. Fair enough - we get new information and then we change plans. He walked me through the various drains that he was going to put in. When I repeated back what I had heard him say and asked him to clarify again what I was saying was what he meant, his response was, "i already explained it to you once - this is a waste of my time. I don't have time to explain this again and again" Given the thousands of dollars involved with the project I feel like I have a right to understand what I am signing up for. To say that he is pompous and condescending is an understatement. It is apparent that he really doesn't like people which is shocking given that he is in the service business.
Description of Work: Initially, we discussed putting in a drainage system from a crawl space out the side of my house. Upon a second inspection, it was clear that an external drainage system was required.

Mary was great. I have an older home, built in 1912 and Mark was careful working on it. He gave a proposal and was also willing to consider other professional opinions before coming up with the final proposal. He implemented the plan and did a great job in a timely manner.
Description of Work: Mark Wijsen of MW Construction installed six piers underground on the west side of my house to stop any further rotation.
