I have to say their cleaning job was fantastic. But, the repairs and customer service sucks. I should have known there was going to be trouble. Since on the first visit, they called and said they would be late. ?Well at least I received that call?. Let me get back to what happened. I called Mister Chimney, to get an estimate, to replace a damaged chase cover. Martin, from Mister Chimney, gave me an estimate. We agreed on the price. He said he will have it installed this Saturday. At that time, we agreed to have the chimney cleaned and the wood that seals the chase replaced. Since some of the wood fell out and was rotted. So I waited all day Saturday. Mister Chimney was a no show. The next Wednesday I called them. The woman, who answered the phone said she did not know anything about this. She gave me Martin?s phone number. I called him and he said the guy who makes there chase covers was in the hospital sick, so I asked him why he did not call me, he just said he was sorry. At that time I verified that the cover was going to be stainless steel. He said no its not, I said I want stainless steel. He said it will cost me five hundred dollars more. I said let?s just cancel the whole job. Martin called me back later to negotiate a price. I agreed to split the difference the job was back on. Once again Martin said we will be out Saturday, once again they were a no show. I called Monday to find out what happened. Once again the woman did not know what was going on. She set up an appointment for mid-week. The guy comes to install the chase and clean the chimney. He said he was just here to remove the old chase and install the new one. I said what about the cleaning; he said he will have to call. Okay, he did a great job of cleaning the chimney - but when it came to the chase cover - not so great. First he did not replace the wood seal, and he said he did not have any stainless nails. So he used copper coated nails. I asked him what happens when the copper coat wears off, and he did not have an answer. Well, now when we use the fireplace with any wind at all smoke gets in the attic and down into the garage. It travels between the brick of the fireplace and the wood chase. Once again, I make a phone call and it takes another phone call before they say they will fix it. They make another appointment Martin shows up and says that we did not agree to replace the seal, but he will have a guy come out Saturday to replace the missing wood that seals the chase. I said he should replace all the seal not just the one missing piece. Once again Mister Chimney was a no show no call. So I say that Mister Chimney is great for cleaning not so great on repairs and customer service.. C Chimney cleaning and Chimney Chase replacement This is an amendment to my last review. Angies List works. Martin from Mister Chimney brought what seemed to be his whole crew by. They did the repairs, and he realy seemed very concerned that this job gets repaired this time around. Great experience with Mister Chimney. I scheduled my appointment online and after a little bit of back and forth with the office manager, got an appointment scheduled about 2 weeks out from my original email. One piece of feedback...an improved online appointment scheduler would be helpful. The two sweeps that came were quite personable and got right down to work, showing me progress along the way. They left my house spic and span, and apologized at least 5 times for being late (they had my cell phone number wrong, so I didn't get notified. But I did get a prompt return call from the office when I called to make sure they were on their way). The cleaning took roughly 30 minutes. I'm very happy with the service and their advice to get my chimney cleaned/inspected every 2 years. The only downside, was that I didn't find out that they also offer a vent cleaning service, which I would have utilized, until they were on their way out the door. Overall, I'd highly recommend this service!

Due to the cold weather, we thought it would be nice to have a fire in our fireplace. When we lit the log and wood, smoke came pouring out into our lliving room and the rest of the house. We put out the fire, opened the windows and doors to clear out the smoke. The flue appeared to be working, but we needed to find out what wrong. We found Mister Chimney on Angie's List and gave them a call. First of all the company is open on the weekends, and after leaving a voice mail message, someone returned our call the same afternoon to set up an appointment. The service techs were prompt on the day of the appointment and called to let us know that they were "on the way." They were courteous, professional and asked us to explain the problem with the fireplace. They quickly went to work and did a thorough inspection of the fiireplace and then onto the roof to do an inspection of the chimney.

They arrived on time and did a great job. They were fast and efficient which I really liked.

First Visit The gentleman (I wish I could remember the name) arrived on time for chimney cleaning and inspection. He got his big chimney vacuum with him. He laid down a big protective cover over our living room area as he started cleaning the chimney. When he left the room was just as clean as when he came in. He also showed me all the crap that came out of the chimney. He went up and inspected the chimney and gave us a fairly detailed report and discussed my options of fixing some of the issues. He was very professional and had a pleasant personality to deal with it. Second Visit Following that I had scheduled a chimney cap installation job on a later day. But it turns out Mr. Chimney staff was already in the neighborhood on an earlier day. They called me and wanted to check if I was interested in getting it done earlier than I was expecting. It so happened I had some time on my hand and since my office is not far from my home, I decided to go home and meet them do the job. When I reached home they had already installed the new cap on the chimney and were cleaning up. Overall I liked their professionalism and polite ways very much.

Our chimney/fireplace has never drawn well and recently had become completely unusable. I was afraid that the entire chimney would need reconstruction, but Hugo from Mr. Chimney came out for an estimate and told me that rebuilding wasn't necessary; what was needed was a three-day process of intense cleaning and realignment of the smoke chamber, which is done internally with wet concrete and not by taking the chimney apart. Mr. Chimney's team arrived on time each of the three days, the last visit coming just 3 days before Christmas, and on a Saturday! The result was a wonderfully working chimney and a warm cozy fire on Christmas morning, with no excess smoke in my house of any kind. We have used our fireplace several times since with no smoke problems of any kind. The folks at Mr. Chimney will be taking care of cleaning and maintaining my chimney from now on!

The chimney sweeps arrived as scheduled. Completed a full inspection and cleaned the chimney and firebox. They put out drop cloths to catch any dust and in addition used a vacuum to catch any soot while they were sweeting the chimney. They left no mess.

Martin from Mr. Chimney was prompt and put down a cloth to protect the floor. He was polite, professional, informative and a pleasure to do business with. Would definitely hire him again.

We are very happy with our fireplace. We have had several fires. No smoke enters our house. We are pleased with the service and would recommend Mister Chimney for anyone needing masonry repairs.

We had several issues with this fireplace: the fireplace had no damper and had not been cleaned in about three decades. Due to the age of the house, we felt that the mortar of the inner bricks was deteriorated and this would cause a fire hazard when the walls overheated or sparks flew up the chimney chamber. We also noticed water staining on the ceiling of our master bedroom which has part of the chimney wall going through it. After several roofing inspections it was determined that the mortar in the chimney stack was allowing water to seep into the chimney and make its way past the flashing. Essentially it was acting like a sponge and the water was trickling into our bedroom ceiling. We had Mister Chimney come out to do all the work and Martin Nava showed up to take measurements of our chimney and to do the initial chimney cleaning. He laid out plastic and a blanket to protect the floor and kept a commercial vacuum running at all times to capture the soot that came out the fireplace. When the crew returned a few weeks later to install the stainless steel liner, they had all the materials ready to go and timed it to avoid a series of storms that were due to hit. They were careful with the old chimney while replacing the mortar and my husband went up to inspect the work and see exactly what was being done. The workers, including Martin, carefully explained what they were doing and took extra care when handling the flashing and chimney cap. The liner fit like a glove and was reinforced with concrete. Everything looked good and that week the real test took place when we had a solid week of rain. We kept an eye on the ceiling and no new water leaked in. We were also able to enjoy the fireplace on Thanksgiving and all our guests commented on how special it was to have a fire during dinner. Between the "water-proofing" and having the fire safety issues resolved, we felt peace of mind and very prepared for the winter season. A month later we had another series of storms with high winds and the gusts were so strong that they lifted the chimney cap off of the chimney stack and blew it onto the roof. We called Mister Chimney on Sunday morning and they came out the same day to replace the cap and secured it with extra screws to ensure any future "hurricane" gusts would not pull it off. Their responsiveness was a huge benefit and their professional manner and quality work during all the project work was consistent.

We purchased a home built in 1913 with the plan to restore as much of its original beauty as possible. One of our fireplaces was definitely not original to the house and was covered with medieval period tile. A sort-of "Castle Deco" look. We hired a contractor to begin the removal with the hopes of restoring what we believed to be the original brick underneath. When he finished the first phase we discovered that the original fireplace had been completely removed and only a few sections of the original brick remained. It looked like it had been hit during the London blitz and it was clear that the medieval tile job was an attempt to hide the damage. We then began our search for a company that could finish the demolition, rebuild the fireplace and stay within the period look of a home from the early 1900s. After interviewing about 7 companies including masons, we decided on Mr. Chimney after speaking to a neighbor who hired them to work on their historic home. Martin Nava was the project coordinator and he came out to review the details several times before the work began. He even sent a crew two days before the project started to completely protect and stage the job. The crew laid masonite boards over contractor floor paper that we provided to protect our 100 year old floors. A curtain was set up to contain the dust and they used heavy weight plastic and blue tape to protect the paint on the ceiling and walls. Martin came on the first day to review the details with the mason and his assistant as to what was needed and what exact details needed to be observed. He called and checked in with us each day and stopped to evaluate the work which took a week to complete. The mason was fantastic in his attention to the work and respect for our home and the restoration work that was needed. When it came time to remove the old stove, it took 4 men as it must have weighed about 500 lbs. One of our front steps was accidentally chipped and Martin came back himself to do the repair. Each day the workers arrived early, cleaned their work area and always kept me informed at each stage of the project. We discovered that the old fireplace had been hiding poor quality work, damaged walls, electrical wires and other garbage that we had removed. At the end of the week, we could finally begin to see hints of what the original fireplace must have looked like. The workers were very careful working in the house, very polite and responsive to our questions and requests. We still have additional details to complete before the fireplace restoration is done but Mr. Chimney helped to give this project an excellent foundation and we could not be more pleased.

Very good. I'm glad we had the service as we had recently purchased the home and the chimneys were very dirty. The work was done well, and the cleanup was thorough.

Mr. Chimney's service tech arrived, took off his shoes at the front door, walked over to the fireplace, placed a drop cloth over the hearth and looked up into the chimney. "You do not have a damper." He also said "you have water damage." He also said that my chimney is short and does not provide a good air draft and that smoke probably entered the house when the fireplace was used. He then cleaned the chimney (it was extremely dirty) and had his shop vacuum sucking up dust so that it would not come into my living room. He also went onto the roof, however, I did not see what kind of work the technician did. He recommended that until the chimney had repair work performed that I use duraflame-type logs for safety. He presented his bill, very reasonable, and an estimate for future work. He then put down another drop cloth between the front door and the fireplace so that his vacuum would not drop excess dust onto my floors. He was extremely polite and courteous the entire time and then thanked me for allowing him to clean my chimney. I am very happy.

I e-mailed Mr. Chimney to arrange an inspection/cleaning of my chimney in my new house. We did a bit of back and forth to set up a mutually convenient time, about 1 week away. On the day-of, he showed up within minutes our our appointed time and he and his assistant immediately set to work. I noticed right away they were taking care to keep the house clean, with a drop-blanket to catch stray dust and even blowing clean the shop-vac hose before using it. In a very short amount of time they had swept my chimney, vacuumed up all the dust, washed out the hearth box, and climbed up on the roof to inspect the chimney. In my case everything was fine so we shook hands and he was away. In addition to being professional and capable, he was also very friendly, taking a few minutes to have a chat about his business and his family. He's been doing this for 22 years so he knows his stuff!

Good value. Did not try to sell me anything that was not needed.

I called for an appointment and they were able to fit me in the following week. Martin called the day of the appointment to ask if I was available earlier, as he was running ahead of schedule, but was more than happy to keep our original appointment time if I wasn't avaialable. He arrived promptly, and I explained what I had been told from the two prior inspections (from different companies) done on the chimney. Both inspections yielded mixed results, one suggesting I needed to buy an insert, and the other saying that it needed cleaning and another inspection to ensure it's safety. Martin determined that it was structurally safe and did not need to be cleaned. He advised on the structural changes I could make based on the construction of the chimney, and gave helpful suggestions which would update and improve the look of the existing brick mantle. He was genuine and did not try to sell me a cleaning service as the other companies did. He offered advice (there could be a smoke problem if you had a fire while the heater was running) in addition to performing his inspection. He was friendly, professional, and personable. I would recommned Mr. Chimney and would not hesitate to use them again.

Martin was the only one who took me up on the roof to see the damage. He was really great about talking me through were it was broken and how he was going to fix it. Martin and his workers showed up early everyday. They respected the neighbors and didn't use power tools until 8:30am. The plan was that Martin would re-use my bricks but he wasn't happy with their condition and choose to get new ones instead and this didn't change my cost. Working with Martin was great. I would diffidently hire him again.

Martin showed and explained what was needed and performed a quality job at the price he bid, even leaving us the extra brick he bought just to be sure he had enough. Martin's price was thousands less than that of the contractor the sellers had chosen to make a bid for disclosures. Mister Chimney's years in the business and reputation on Yelp and Angie's made them an easy choice. The crew was always on time and cleaned up after the job beautifully. The entire job took three days with a crew of three.

My small house is 75 years old. It was hit by a car. The point of impact was near my chimney. In the course of repairs by the insurance company's contractor I got two wildly different opinions about the chimney's safety. A structural engineer came out to look at the damage to the house right after the car hit the house. As one part of his overall inspection of the house he took a level to the chimney. He determined that there was a slight tilt to it, but given the house's age and the long time that the ground under it had been settling, the tilt was absolutely minor, the chimney was fine. No damage had been caused to it by the vehicle impact. At the end of the repairs on the main part of the house the contractor had a chimney guy he knew come in and look at the chimney. Well, this guy said the chimney was unsafe, my god look at that tilt!, the chimney was FULL of cracks, it would smoke, my house might burn down, but then again it might not, it was up to me to take the risk. Needless to say, I needed the difference in opinions sorted out. I got on Angie's List. Based on the reviews he got on Angie's List I called Mister Chimney. Mister Chimney's office got back to me right away and we set up an inspection. Mister Chimney is Martin. Martin is a delight. Very personable, wonderful manners, and boy does he know chimneys! I did not tell Martin that I had two different opinions about the chimney. He did his inspection meticulously, thoroughly. He determined my fireplace and chimney to be safe to use. MARTIN TOLD ME THE TRUTH. The contractor's guy was trying to scare me into costly, drawn out, unnecessary repairs. Martin determined that the tilt in the chimney was inconsequential, it was a great, really solidly built chimney, there were no cracks, and the fire box (where you put the logs to burn) was absolutely fine. Martin demonstrated a fund of knowledge of structural integrity, plus he has twenty five years of practical, specialized experience with chimneys. Martin came out and gave us an estimate. The estimate and the final amount matched and Martin was very honest about the work that needed to be done. Other companies came out and inflated the price 200%. We set a date and they honored the date and showed up promptly. I arranged all this via email with Fatima from Mr. Chimney's Office. They also give a safety report so that as a rental unit I am covered if anything were to happen. I would recommend Mr. Chimney for any other repairs necessary.

I wish all vendors were as polite, efficient and professional as Martin. When I called, Martin was out but he called right back. He ordered the chimney cap (which was out of stock) and showed up the following week to install it. He was in/out in less than 10 minutes, and the chimney cap looks good.

I needed an inspection and repairs on/in my fireplace. I checked on Angie's list and Yelp and decided on Mr Chimney. And am I glad I did, Mr Chimney was great! They came out to clean and inspect my chimney and gave me a clear report on the repairs needed. I hired them to install a flue liner and replace the existing damper. They charged a very reasonable rate while proving excelent service. They were timely, thorough and neat.They even did detail work that I did not expect. Martin and Luis were professional, knowledgable and more than willing to answer all my questions. I know which company I will be hiring for all my future chimney needs....

The team from Mr. Chimney was great. From the initial scheduling of visits (online) to the work that was completed. I had two chimney caps installed, as well as a damper and a chimney liner. Martin and his team were always prompt (if not early) and extremely professional. Martin always made a point of clearly explaining the work that needed to be done and showed pictures as examples of previous work so that I would have a visual example of what he was describing. The work is top notch. I will continue to use Mr. Chimney for future cleaning and chimney sweeping.
