Horrible the issue was in the tub drain line guy came out with no tools just walked and looked in three clean outs then said they need to snake mainline through roof itvwould take two guys wich is understandable but then they started bringing up osha saying thats why it would cost so much but they said they could finance you and pay like 56/60 a month talked to another plumber and he called BS so the other plumber came out asked what ROTO ROOTER had said and he started laughing long story short he snaked tub drain through overflow on tub pulled out hair charged 90$ he was there for 15 minutes and job was done and ROTO ROOTER WANTED TO CHARGE ME 900$ these guys are a joke DO NOT CALL THESE SCAMMERS

Were to come back with a camera to further evaluate sewer lines and clean those they did not replace, never showed up.

I've used Roto Rooter before but I've never been the one footing the bill, I was just the guy supervising the work. Their service is great, they show up on time, and they are always dressed well with boots polished and shirts pressed. I called them once since owning a home and had a plumbing problem of my own. The only problem I have is that they nickel and dime you to death. I called them for a simple drain cleaning which really only takes 30 minutes, tops, and uses no parts or supplies. They wanted something like $80 for the service call plus $50 per clean out (I have two). I forgot what else they put in their quote but overall it came out to approximately $250. And this was during normal business hours and not even and emergency call! I probably would have just paid it if a friend hadn't told me that the price was outrageous. He recommended another company (licensed and bonded) and they did the same job for $80 flat with a 90 day guarantee.

Tech said he needed an assistant to come back and cut a new access because they were no longer allowed to do the job from the roof, as they had done in the past. He told me the earliest they could get there was two days later, 'first thing' in the morning. Meantime the line plugged completely - no toilet, sink, or shower facilities for anyone in the household. At 3:00PM of the supposedly agreed upon day, he was still a no-show. Called a different service, which came out in less than an hour, and did the work from the roof. While that second service was finishing up, Roto Rooter's man sauntered up to the house with the excuse that i was not answering my phone. I told him i only answer it when it rings, and according to my caller id history - he had not called.

Roto-Rooter did a great job. They got the job done. They did not end up charging me more than they originally planned.

It went well. I just wondered whether it was too expensive: $165 to clean the main line. Seems like a lot. Otherwise, a very positive experience.

The tech was clean, polite, arrived when expected. He was very professional. This company is the only one in Bakersfield that can do the drain cleaning, at my house, due to the size of the lot. On two previous occasions I called a different company and they couldn't do the job - had to call Roto-Rooter anyway. The first time I did that the techs were here for 7 hours. Now, I just call them first!
