Mr Fix-It Home Repair & Handyman

What a wonderful experience!! Everything was explained in detail to me along with all my questions thoroughly answered. Since I had never worked with Mr. Fixit, I had others check what I was told needed to be done. Word for word his recommendations were correct. The owner oversaw every aspect of the work. I was impressed that recommendations were made of things I could do to keep the price down. I provided the metal for the stand which they modified to fit. The job was almost totally done in a day (the next day after I called). How refreshing. I now have a go-to company for all kinds of repairs. I understand that the owner oversees every job. All the people working for him must go through 6 weeks of monitoring in their discipline before being considered reliable and competent to work for him. I cannot tell you how much it means to take a chance on someone and have it work out above and beyond the best you could imagine.

He and his partner got up there. They were in and out. Then, he talked to me about two options. One was to put a clamp on it that will seal it and the other option was to replace the pipe which he said was a major plumbing that he would not suggest at that time. He told me that if we get some more leaks later that we had to start thinking about replacing all the galvanized pipes that were in the attic. He did not jump right on doing the big one at that time. Aside from the fact that he is friendly, he tells things as it is. If there is something he cannot do, he tells you who to go to. It is nice to have somebody that you can call and depend on to help you out. Emergencies do happen, and he is right there.

The initial description of work and request for quote was handled efficiently and clearly over the phone. An appointment was set to take place at a mutually agreeable time in two days. The meeting took place at the agreed time, and was was followed by the quote delivered on-time as promised. The estimator was very knowledgeable and offered and discussed a number of options. The installation was delayed about one-half hour, but the carpenter kept in touch by phone to let me know what was happening. The work was completed efficiently and in a timely manner. All tools were on-hand and the carpenter was obviously experienced with great skills. I am extremely pleased with the result.

They were prompt. Gave me accurate for other estimates.

Everything seemed to go smoothly over the course of a couple of days. I was very happy to find and use a 5% discount I found on Angie's list.

Needed someone on an emergency basis on a Friday afternoon to repair parents' door and/or door frame after break-in. I found Mr Fixit Home Repair and Handyman on Angie's list. They answered right away, understood and appreciated the situation, and promised to have someone out by the end of day to repair, if possible, or at least secure the door. They did as promised. A few hours after the call, they were able to secure the door with a promise to return the next morning, SATURDAY, to make the repairs... which they did quickly and professionally. I am very likely to use their services again for myself and heartily recommend them for the manner in which they accepted the call and performed the repairs.

The owner visited for the initial appointment. He discussed the best options for the type of baseboard and caulking that would be optimum for my dining room, living room and foyer. I appreciated the fact that he took my ideas into consideration. He also provided me with a written estimate. The work was finished the next day: no waiting! After the job was finished, the owner called me to make sure that I was satisfied with the job which I am. Jim and his business provide a model for how a business should be conducted.

I called Mr Fix-it on Monday afternoon and explained what I needed done. He gave me an approximate quote and said he could have someone out on Tuesday. As I was out of town on Tuesday, we made it Wednesday. Later Monday Eddie, the craftsman who actually did the work, called to get directions to my house and told me he would be there between 8:15 and 8:45 Wednesday morning. He arrived about 8:30. He looked at the job, left for about 1/2 hour to get supplies. When he returned he started working. He was a very pleasant man to talk to. The job required several coats of mud on the inside and stucco on the outside. It was a rainy day and required some extra drying time between coats, so it took just about the whole day. Because of the slow drying, Eddie had to come back for the last coat of stucco. He arrived at the time he said he would and finished the job. I appreciated that he cleaned up after his work and put away the garden hoses he had used. The cost was the price quoted. I gave a "C" rating on price because, while it seemed reasonable to me, I really don't have much to compare it to. We did our own painting a couple days later and it looked great.

My experience with Mr. Fix-It and his team was excellent. I had a great deal of work done: replacing the roof, replacing the air conditioning unit, adding insulation to the attic, "mudding" over acoustical ceilings, and having solatubes/skylights installed. Mr. Fix-It came up with a very reasonable price for all of the work. He and his workers were extremely courteous and professional. They were punctual, worked quickly, and did a wonderful job on every part of the project. Mr. Fix-It means it when he says that his work isn't finished until you are happy. I will be calling him for all of my future home improvement needs.

My mother's house was broken into the night after Thanksgiving, while she was away in Florida. I was notified Saturday morning about the break in and drove to Bakersfield to see how bad the damage was and what needed to be done. After making several phone calls to different companies, Mr Fixit was the one that stated they would do emergency work and come out that day. They came out pretty quick and looked at the door. The representative they sent, his name was Dan, stated that he would board up the door from the inside until he could come back out on Monday and repair the door frame where the wood was broken out from the door being kicked open. The following Monday, after speaking with them on the phone, Dan met with me back at my mother's house with a security door that we had requested and a replacement door frame side. He undid the boarding up of the door, and fixed the door frame and installed the security door. He was very fast and did a very professional job. He cleaned up the mess from the installation, as well. Once he was done, you couldn't even tell that the door had been kicked in. My mom's house is an older house built during the 1960s. He knew exactly how to deal with it to get it fixed. Overall, I was impressed by the fact they were willing to perform emergency work during Thanksgiving weekend. They were easy to deal with and did fantastic work. If you are getting work done to a door, I would recommend calling this company and asking for Dan to work on your door.

I would use Jim again as he was very professional and made sure we were happy. The gentlemen he sent to do the work were less professional and less detail oriented. They were both curtious and we did see an attempt to clean up any messes they made. Any of the complaints we had when they left all had to do with details. ie, paint on cabinets, stucco spilt and not cleaned up, and some trash/debris left when they were done. We were more than pleased with the electrical work and other odds and ends they did and underwhelmed at the patching and stucco work. Jim did actually call to see if we were happy with the work and came out himself to fix what needed to be fixed. We felt like unltimatly the work would never be left undone or done unsatifactory and that was the bottom line for us. We absolutly feel as if we found someone that we can call to fix the odds and ends around the house and that it will be done quickly and satisfactorily.

Everything went fine . They were very curtious and finally did everything I had asked for and what they quoted to do. The work was done on time.

I was given an estimate on Tuesday, they removed the old fascia on Wednesday and the new boards went up Thursday. smooth as silk. Things were left clean and tidy, they did a very good job!

Don arrived promptly and was very friendly & competent. He installed the five outdoor lights as requested, and also repaired the threshold strip of one of my doors. The latter took more time than originally estimated but that was no fault of theirs; the original threshold turned out to be bent due to the previous installers, and so Don & Jim had to run out to Home Depot to obtain a replacement unit. I was happy with the service overall, and would use them again!

I asked Jim to please assist in renovations.... whatever he had experience in. He said he did not do tile, but had experience with electrical, drywall, plumbing, replacing doors, and general handyman work. He was quite polite, called and came over for estimate. I thought he was experienced, checked all other reviews, and hired him based on his bid he submitted. I was not home for the work performed (this is a 2nd home for us), but upon arrival of the 1st bid, everything seemed ok and completed. I asked him to do a few things over, as I was not pleased with the quality of some of the work, ie; pantry doors were put in quite sloppy, drywall patching was unsightly. Jim assured me he would fix to my expectation. I paid him the original bid and asked him to please see my next list of items to complete. This list had more extensive repairs and renovations. Doors needed to be re-hung, powder room needed plumbing for shower and pedestal sink, and electrical work needed re-done. He was to continue with drywall patching, install garbage disposals in both kitchen sink areas. Upon my arrival after this trip, I was more surprised than I wanted to be. First, he never gave me an estimate for the second list. I actually did not worry....the first estimate seemed reasonable, and I saw Jim as an honest man. I started to question Jim's ability to complete the tasks. The electrical seemed incorrect and sloppy. The plumbing in the powder room was not right at all! I was installing a wrought iron pedestal sink, so with exposed plumbing, his crew installed these large, black plastic pipes. There were decorative ones I asked them to use. I spoke to another contractor who was painting for me, and he stated Jim's work is very sloppy and done incorrectly. This contractor (who happened to be my ex husband) was telling me he felt Jim was "ripping me off" and not doing the work correctly. After paying Jim for the list he completed, I told him I was ceasing all work as I had no more funds to continue...... and none of the work seemed done correctly! In calling in another contractor, I learned Jim's work was less than done correctly. I called and emailed Jim several times with no response. A few times, he did email me back, but would never show up to meet with me. I then knew something was very wrong. Here is a man who did shady work at best, and now he will not come to fix his own mess. I had to pay other contractors to fix everything from the drywall patching, to the plumbing, to re-hanging the doors.....not only did I have to pay for all the new supplies, ie; new doors (yes, Jim's workers ruined them so bad I had to buy new ones to correct the issue), re install the garbage disposals, re do electrical ( I was told it was wired so bad that it could have caused an electrical fire!). Anyways, I called and text and called Jim for a few months..... at this point I only was asking for my garage door opener back and needed the supply receipts for my taxes. I told him to "put them in the mail! You don't even have to see me! Why cant you at least do this after everything you have already done?" I never raised my voice to this man. I questioned his work, but he assured me it would all be to our standards. He asked me for money up front for work that was not finished, and like an idiot, I paid it. I travel quite a bit and he saw the "sucker" sign I had pasted on my forehead. Guess I am an idiot for believing in mankind.Jim is a nice man.... he eventually came over to my house and met with me. I do give him credit for that. He stood before me and basically told me he was sorry, but he ripped me off, and was saying he was sorry. That didn't give me any piece of mind since he cashed about $12k in checks. He did ask what he could do..... I told him I wanted my money returned. I finally got my opener back, and he did finally give me those receipts I needed.I did file a complaint with the State of California Contractors License Board. I will be pursuing justice for myself. I hope you do not use this man or his company! ....and in regards to your response....YOU did not return my phone calls for over 2 months. Other than you paying back the money you seem to have taken from me for faulty work, I decided to just go thru the State Contractors Board to file complaint there. Thought after the 1st attempt, it really wasn't on me to try to "fix it" Mr Fix It. I am puzzled that you are puzzled by my report!

Mr. Fix-It knows what he is doing. I trust Mr. Fix-It's work 100%.

Their price was reasonable and the gentleman, Dan, was friendly. They were on time and they did a little extra work for me. I was really satisfied and they were really accommodating and squeezed me into their busy schedule.

I used Mr. Fix it for some home repair services. I paid $125 for three hours job. They are very service-friendly and professional.

They were punctual and timely. I liked the service.

1st apartment rescheduled because one of his employees did not come to work. Apartment day called residence instead of rental. Return apartment to seal grout. Jim appeared at residence instead of rental.

He came when he was supposed to come. He provided good service.

He did a good job working with the tenant who was in the home that he was doing the work in. He did a good job on the work.
