Micheal's offered very competitive prices when matched up against competitors. Service was prompt and sales associate (owner Benny) were nice to work with. the store provided many samples and a range of price points. We had a few stop and starts with out decision making and Benny was pretty good with this sort of "on off" event. Benny used an in house contractor to demo our current flooring and baseboard and then install new carpet and laminate. This all went really well. roughly 1500 sq-ft of flooring and demo in about four days. One complaint was in my initial comparison quotation, I received a quote from Michael's and assumed it was for the exact same product, turned out it was for something of equivalent quality. This bothered me but Benny and I were able to work out the details and from there on out everything went well. I am happy overall and the product and install are great! There are probably a few other outfits that might be a touch more professional and possibly do better finish work, but Micheal's does bring good product at good value. I would use them again.

See above, my advice is to buy from another vendor or purchase online.
Description of Work: Our initial experience with this vendor was very favorable as we dealt primarily with one of their sales professional, Chip who is outstanding. Merchandise we ordered was substantial amount of flooring of high end material, very nice. But first insight as to potential problems came when flooring arrived and the owner didn't want to deliver to our home here in Bakersfield. Finally Chip salesman was able to convince owner to have one of the drivers deliver it for additional fee. This was more than $16K some 2200 sf, approx. 110 boxes. Adding to this we were able to find the exact same product online at about 75-80% of the cost, but since Chip, not Michael's had been so helpful we figured we purchase at local store and avoid any problem from online purchase (online purchased included delivery to home). Michael's visited our place to measure and also give estimates for carpeting in bedroom areas. We did the project ourselves which took few months working weekend etc. when project complete had about 10-15% overage. We attempted to return for credit less any restocking fee etc. Owner flatly denied stated he would have given credit if approach in 1st 30 days. For a DIY project 30 days hardly enough. Secondly they measured project and gave estimates of materials at which time I thought their numbers were high but Chip had stated they figure in 5% overage in their figures. I incorrectly assumed since they measured wrong they would credit less restocking fees which I would have no issue with. In the end their service less than what I would have received online. Lastly, Chip the salesman and primary reason we originally purchased from this vendor left, no doubt he feels the same way about the owner and Michael's as we do.

My original installation date was Aug. 11. The installers showed up BUT they brought the wrong size tile. The tile was suppose to be 13"x13" and they brought 20"x20". Apparently the wrong size was ordered and so I had to wait 3 days for the correct size to be delivered. Fortunately I had not taken a day off work to have the tile installed on the 11th. I'm a teacher and school hadn't started yet. I would have been very upset if I had wasted a "personal day off" for nothing. When the installers returned on Aug. 14th they had the correct tiles BUT they didn't have enough of them. The owner of the company, Bennie, had measured the room and apparently miscalculated the amount of border tiles needed to go around the perimeter of the room. The installers did not waste any tiles yet they were 3 tiles short of completing the job. Now I had to wait for the 3 tiles to be ordered and for the installers to return from an out of state job they were scheduled to go on. I was willing to wait for these two particular installers because they had done such a good job so far of laying the tile in my room of unusual and complicated angles. Two days later I mopped my almost completed new tile floor and noticed several black marker lines on several of the border tiles. The installer had actually used permanent black marker to draw lines on the tiles. Since he didn't cut on every line he drew many of the lines were left to blemish the tile. I tried a multitude of products to remove the black lines but the best I could do was to fade them from black to gray. Several weeks passed and it became apparent the original installers were not going to be available to complete the job. Michael Flooring sent out another installer to complete the job. He used sandpaper to sand off the black marks and proceeded to lay the last 3 border tiles. He left me a bottle of tile and grout sealer so I could seal the floor. To be fair to him, he did offer to put the sealer on for me but I told him I didn't mind doing it. My floor installation was finally complete on Sept. 12. What was suppose to be completed in 1 day ended up taking 30 days.
Description of Work: They replaced the carpet in my dining area with ceramic tile. It was a complicated job as the room has many unusual angles. The 13" x 13" tiles were layed on the diagonal and 4" x 12" border tiles were used to finish the perimeter of the room. The finished product looks great BUT it sure was a hassle to get it done.
