Express Moving & Storage

It did not go well at all the owner's Ben and Jason B. Were very rude, disrespectful ,and racist. They made rude comments on my family and the color of them......NO ONE SHOULD COMMENT ON SOMEONE ELSE'S SKIN HAIR EXATRA !!! DISAPPOINTED! 😔

There were two guys come to move me at 8:00 a.m. looked around the house, the head guy got upset and said this is to much to move, the furniture is to heavy and we have to have another guy and truck. He had to call the owner, I said OK, another guy and truck is fine. I'm closing escrow in a couple of days and need to move. They talked for a while to the owner and waited for other guy. His helper played loud rap music on his phone the whole day. My mom and I asked him twice to please turn it off. I already had a headache dealing with the other guy. The head guy said if we damage your stuff we only have to pay you sixty cents per pound, not the value, unless you want to buy insurance. I was never told about this and I didn't have the extra money. I would just not let them move my lamps and antiques and hope theres no major damage. I was never told by the owner, they wouldn't move open boxes, that weren't completely taped, something sticking out of boxes nor no clear bags that I had put towels and blankets in, thinking they could throw them on top of furniture. Then to top it off he refused to move the washer, dryer and refrigerator, until I had someone unhook everything. I told the owner I was a recent widow there was no mention of this. I had my dad (80+ years old) come over and unhook the appliances so they could load them. They loaded them mid way in the move and should of put it on last and they unload them last, meaning the refrigerator/freezer had been unplugged for over five to six hours. I didn't think about it then I was still moving everything. When I cooked some meat,l I got food posion and had to throw away all the food and start over ($200+). The head guy's attitude was bad throughout the move, until the end of the day when they finished (tip was NEVER going to happen) he was trying to be nice. In front of me on brand new carpet they slide a cabinet, instead of pick it up and tore the carpet. After they left I found some of the furniture had been scratched, all on me since I didn't buy the insurance. They did one trip with three guys and two trucks in seven hours. My dad did three trips with one truck and one helper the following day, granted they did move most of the heavy furniture. Just think this could of all been avoided, if they would of given me details or had a brochure or flyer to give all these details, which would have stopped most of these problems.

The first time I used Express Moving and Storage, owned and operated by Mr. Ben Durnham was back in July when we had to move to a short term lease housing after selling our home in a day. Getting a schedule that will easily fit a customer's convenience and timeframe is no hassle. The day of the move, David and Brandon showed up a few minutes before my scheduled appointment at 8:00 AM. David and Brandon were polite, courteous and well experienced in their trade, They were able to load, apply protective wrap on wooden furniture and large electronics and place protective pads where it's needed. Upon arriving their destination, they were very careful and efficient in unloading, unpacking and unwrapping furniture and large electronics. You can also request for them to disassemble furniture and reassemble them once you settled to your destination. The second time I used Express Moving and Storage was today. I had to move in to my new home. I requested the same crew as last time but one of them is unavailable today but Mr. Durnham sent someone who is just as equally efficient. David and Abel arrived on time, They were able to load, pack and wrap a 7 piece king bedroom set, 6 piece queen bedroom set, twin mattress with box frame, 2 kids dresser, 20 plus large moving boxes, 1 46 inch LCD TV, TV stand, 3 piece living room set, 3 and 5 piece patio furniture and some other small to medium size items in just 4 hours / half a day. That includes furniture disassembly and reassembly. They also had to move furniture on the second floor. Both David and Abel were extremely careful on maneuvering furniture in my new home. There was not a single paint scratch or gouge that can be found after moving all that stuff. I highly recommend Express moving and Storage for any local or statewide move.

I have used Ben and his company, Bakersfield Express Moving 4 times in the last 6 years. Moves have always been local in the Bakersfield area. I always receive accurate estimates. His moving crew is careful and always on time. There are never any unpleasant surprises. I have never had any personal effects damaged or disappear. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

They were on time, all furniture was packed and wrapped, everything arrived intact. I plan to use them again in the near future for a cross country move.

Express Moving (formerly City Transfer and Storage) called several days beforehand and came out to our house to give us a firm estimate of the moving costs. We were very happy with the estimate and agreed to the move. On moving day 2 very professional young men and the owner of the company arrived at our home on time and proceeded with the move. All furniture was professionally wrapped in blankets INSIDE the home before anything was moved into the moving van. Every facet of this move was handled professionally and on time. I highly recommend this firm without any exceptions. You are welcome to contact me as I'm a real person and will state the same thing verbally. Remember, City Transfer went out of business and Express moving bought the assets and has continued the tradition.

It went very well. The two moving men were very good at keeping me informed through the process of their concerns, the order of loading the truck, how everything was going to be wrapped and how certain items were going to fit going up the stairs and landing of the new apartment. I had purchased insurance so they paid close attention to the state of the furniture, the legs being loose on my couch and my protectiveness for my 50" plasma TV. A large desk of mine has a glass top which screws into place, they were considerate enough to wrap it seperately to insure it wasn't damaged. More surprising was the speed it was all done, with barely 50 feet from the entrances of each appartment, 5 miles of drive time, the whole process was done in 2 hours flat. Ironically, it took more time to wrap everything and get it into the truck than it did to get all of it up the flight of stairs at my new apartment. They were also very conscienious of where I wanted all of my items of furniture.

They called to confirm before the move, called me to let me know they were nearby and they were early, which was an option we had discussed previously. They went over the paperwork, and loaded the truck with no issues and with obvious care for my possessions. They drove to the new address, unloaded the items, went over the paperwork and everything came in under the estimate. There were no hidden fees, extra unexpected charges or unpleasant surprises. There was no damage, nothing broken and they were polite and easy to work with from the first phone call, to the end of the move.
