Watch these guys! They will take advantage of your home warranty. A simple fix, can take months to repair.

Austin Heating & Air were called out by my home warranty company in January when my heater stopped working. They replaced a control board on the system in the attic, and the heater started working again. However, fast forward to April when it started getting warm, we noticed that the AC wasn't coming on (it was blowing, but not cold air). My boyfriend got in the attic to check on the system, and noticed that one wire was completely disconnected from the control board and the lid hadn't been placed back on it. Therefore, there was no signal being sent to the AC to start up. I called Austin Heating & Air and asked them to send someone back out since their tech did not leave the system in the proper condition and didn't finish the job properly. Over the course of a week, I called numerous times to talk to a supervisor about it, but no one ever returned my calls. They told me I needed to call my home warranty company again ($75 for each claim), but I felt strongly that I did not need to pay the $75 again because of Austin Heating & Air's error. My boyfriend googled information about the panel and guesstimated on where the wire should go based on what he found online, but was still not certain how it should be wired. I called back and explained the situation again, asking please at the very least for a tech to return my call and answer over the phone if he connected it to the right spot. Again, no one returned my calls. We are almost 1 month out from my constant calling and refusal of the company to help. Austin Heating & Air has horrible follow up, customer service and does shoddy, incomplete work. I definitely would not recommend this business to anyone.

It went fine. It took about 5 min. It was covered by a whole house warranty with a $75.00 copay.

The Home warranty company chose them, I go thru them. I had to pay the $35 fee which is thru the home warranty. It is a service fee. It would have been more than that if it wasn't done thru home warranty. I used them before, I really don't care for them. Price was already set up. Quality was good. Punctuality was good. I don't know if I will be using them as I have to use the provider thru the home warranty company.

An electrician noticed when he was up in my attic that there was cool air blowing -- a lovely thing if you're working in a hot attic in Bakersfield in July, but otherwise a waste of costly cooled air -- and strongly recommended that I have an a/c tech check my ducting for leaks. I contacted my home warranty company, and they had Austin Heating and Air contact me for an appointment. Because they came on behalf of my home warranty company, I paid a service call fee, but have no idea what the regular rate would have been. The technician, Ricky, arrived on time, was neat, clean, polite, and well-spoken. He listened carefully to my concerns about whether my home's ducting was leaky. He went up in the attic and inspected all the ducting and found that there was just one small leak, where my homebuilders had originally put none too much tape about 12 years ago and where the tape had dried up and was not adhering well any more. After telling me about the leak he had found, and that the rest of the ducting and seals all appeared fine, he resealed around the furnace and coil box for both units, going over it several times with the tape to seal it well. He told me he had been careful not to knock insulation down below the crawl-hole, and I found there was in fact almost nothing to clean up. (Other companies in the past have left quite a lot of insulation all around below the crawl-hole, so it was rather outstanding that he was careful not to leave a mess.) We do notice that our home is cooler now at the farthest reaches of the house than it had been prior to this service. Great success! I was very happy with the tech's professional handling of this service call and his careful communication skills, and as a result will seriously consider switching to Austin Heating and Air the next time I am looking for someone to do my routine HVAC service.

I schedule this service every year for roof-mounted heat pump (A/C) unit that is turned off during winter months when furnace is on. Two service men showed up on time. I pointed them to the hose and best access for ladder to reach unit as well as where filter and control are in the hall. As I expected, service was quickly performed. I was provided info about the findings, nothing special, and paid the basic annual fee. This is the third year in a row they've done this service for the unit that was installed in 2008.

It was easy to set up an appointment with them. The technician showed up on time and they did a thorough job. Their prices were reasonable. I would use their services again.

We have a yearly maintenance policy with them. They were here when they said they would be and everything seems to be okay. I will use them again in the future.

I've appreciated the honesty of each employee who has come to my home over the last 3 years. I also appreciate that I never receive negative attitudes, nor putting down any other contractor or contractor's work that has been done on my home. Lastly, when I expressed the history about the drain pipe on the roof, I received options back with pros and cons of each choice. Austin has always been very professional and I highly recommend them.
