First off, Jose Cruz is the best!! I'd give him an A+ rating if I could. So, I thought that a window bars contractor would be the easiest to find. I mean, there are so many homes with bars, and so many people who do that work. But when I went through this process, what I found were: (1) lots of unlicensed contractors; (2) contractors who only do things one way and that's it; (3) contractors who don't respond; (4) contractors who think they are too good for my job--yes, I found this; contractors who don't do this kind of work anymore, don't speak much English, who smell bad, and on and on. I called so many and met with many, and thought I'd never find anyone. Then, from a random google (I did not have access to Angie's List at that time), I found A-1 Steel, who had all sorts of good reviews. Unfortunately, they do not do residential windows. But fortunately, they had a referral for me: Jose Cruz. Jose showed up when he said he would, to take measurements and give me an estimate. Then he came exactly when he said he would, for the installation. We had talked a little bit further on the phone about design, and he did a great job! They look really great. Jose has a couple of guys to help him, and the installation was done very efficiently, and very well. They were careful with everything, were very polite, and it just looks great. Jose had even custom painted a couple of the window bars, at my request. To top it off, the final total was less than the estimate! To further top it off, Jose is such a very nice and good man, and a real professional. Plus he's coming back to help me fix my garage door. Highly highly recommended.
