Description of Work: I was having roofing work done and the roofer thought I had a termite infestation so I called a couple of termite companies. The first one did an inspection and said it was not termites but carpenter ants and recommended treatment. Took a few days to get an estimate emailed and it seemed like a fair price but the work wasn't detailed at all and I like to know what I'm getting for my money. I then called Dave Story and what a difference! Dave came out within a couple of hours, checked with me about the tarps the roofer had left since he was worried about disturbing them during the rainy days. He determined it was actually oak ants and the damage was due to fungus from the roof leak and not insect damage as far as he could tell with the part of the roof that was torn off. He advised having the roofer remove all the bad wood and then calling him back if necessary for inspection and/or treatment. He took his time to thoroughly explain what was going on up there, handed me his card and was gone with a cheerful wave. I would not hesitate at all to use him in the future or refer him to anyone. The ants went back to their tree after the rotten wood was removed.

This outfit is top notch from their office staff to the workmen. They called and emailed when they said they would and came out to do the work and completed it on time, just as they'd said they would. I am extremely pleased with every person we had contact with. Kristina, their office admin, is amazing to work with and made every interaction a joy!
Description of Work: We saw evidence of termites and wanted to make sure the entire home was free from them. Story Termite did a thorough inspection of our home for dry rot and termite damage. The Story team was very professional and friendly. The estimate came in at a reasonable cost especially considering all the wood work that had to be done. The initial wood work and repair was completed flawlessly! The repairman was a true artisan. They showed fantastic workmanship, professionalism, attention to detail, and treated our home as if it were their own. They finished the job with a whole house fumigation that went just as smoothly as everything else. They not only determined what work needed to be done but also completed it on time and on budget.

As it turns out they were not termites but carpenter bees. They bore holes into the wood and then nest there. Dave suggested I treat them with some over the counter products. I had some Home Defense by Ortho that I sprayed into the holes and sealed them up with wood putty as Dave suggested, that took care of the problem. While he was there he walked the property with me looking for any other signs of infestation or problems. He pointed out a few things to me that I was also able to take care of myself. He spent about one half to three quarters of an hour at my home and did not charge me for his time. I think that says it all.

The story (of Dave Story) is pretty simple. We renovated a home and needed a pest control inspection as part of the escrow process. In the past we hired a National firm, they'd come and take a quick walk-about and with very little effort tell us that the house needed to be tented for a tidy sum (over $1,000). Although I don't know for sure, their process appears to me to be an easy way to make easy money on the back of a seller working against a deadline. And I'm sure they could justify it by saying that whether or not they actually discovered termites, there wouldn't be any after the house was tented... But at what cost to me? Dave Story came in and did an in-depth inspection. He donned his mask and coveralls and crawled the entire perimeter of the attic. I could hear his route above me. He also examined the entire outside woodwork as well as the bathrooms. When he was done he showed me the discrepancies and suggested that all the repairs could be done by me and / or my roofer. No pressure to spend lots of money. I'm very pleased with Dave's professionalism and believe the buyer will be protected while I pay a fair and reasonable price. Needless to say, I'll have Dave back for all future projects.
