The garage doors were installed wrong and did not line up with the openings and the 18-foot door did not seal at the bottom and was hung with one side much higher then the other. The large rollers used were hitting the concrete before the door seal would touch the concrete. After more than two different service calls and adjustments the large door still did not work properly. The door would bind up at the top and bottom making it very hard to open. When the doors were installed the power was not turned on in the house and the doors had to be opened manually. No stops were put in the track therefore when the door was opened with it being very heavy and the springs wound very tight it would rely on the motor and the lift arm to stop the door therefore bending the arm. The arm was removed by the installer and never replaced. I called Pioneer Door in Covina CA and asked the owner Allen Hill to come the 200 miles up the coast to Arroyo Grande and see if he could determine what the problems were with the door. Allen came up late on 2/28/09 and the next day came and looked at the doors. After his inspection it was determined the bottom rollers were hitting the concrete before the door would seal at bottom. The lower roller shafts were bent from the installers trying to adjust the doors to get them to seal. The doors were not adjusted properly and were binding at the top and bottom. Allen disassembled the track and removed the rollers and straightened the roller shafts as best he could. Then he ground out the concrete so the door would seal before the rollers would hit and bend the shafts again. Then he installed the rollers, aligned the track, adjusted the springs properly, took the opener bar off one of the other doors and installed it on the 18-foot door. Now the door can be opened manually or by the electric opener with ease and the door seals as it should.
Description of Work: Garage doors. Dear Mrs. Fuller I am sorry you are so misinformed in regards to the “gates” that were supplied by your company. First when I was getting bids for all of the doors that were to be put into our new home I talked to Pella, Obispo Pacific, Pioneer Door and your company. Pella would not make garage doors, Pioneer Door was too far away, Obispo Pacific would have made only the doors/gates in question but I was not sure they would match the other doors that would be made for the other garages. Pioneer Door in Covina CA is one of my tenets that leases one of my buildings. I have known them personally well over 20 years. Obispo Pacific wanted to build the doors/gates in question and pre hung them but I felt they might not match the other garage doors that would be made by your Company. Please confirm this with Jim. He has known from the very beginning that we wanted all of the garage doors to match. After all of the doors were installed several people noticed that the doors/gates for the shop did not match the other garage doors made by your company. I had to have McGinty Construction install the doors in question because your company did not install that type of door. Pat McGinty also commented about the doors not matching after they were installed. Mike Bogle made a comment about the doors not matching. Regardless what the rough not to scale pencil drawings show, Jim Fuller admitted that all doors were to match each other. Jim and I discussed the doors and I told him that I would go to bat for him against who ever made the doors to get them to rebuild or make new ones the way they were suppose to have been done in the first place. I had no idea who’s mistake it was ether Jim’s or who ever manufactured the doors but what I did know along with Jim is they were to match and they clearly did not. I have gone to a great deal of expense to correct all of the mistakes in the making of the doors and also their installation. None of these extra costs have I passed onto your company? The doors in question were hung and then when the replacements were delivered they had to be hung again. Two other doors had to be readjusted more than twice because they ether were not centered with the jam or would bind up. The largest door when it was closed did not fit square to the jam. Several things were not done correctly on the installation and after a number of attempts by your company they were not fixed. Ask Mike Bogle he is very aware of what was wrong. After loosing faith in your company I paid Allen Hill the owner of Pioneer Door in Covina CA to come the 200 miles up to Arroyo Grande and see if he could fix the installation problems. Allen came up and looked at the doors. First he looked at the largest of the doors and said that the spring was wound wrong. Then he looked at the door fit and said it was binding and had to adjust the track. Then he said that the lower rollers were hitting the slab before the door would seal to the slab. Next he found that the lower roller shafts were bent from slamming the door down to try and get it to fit. I saw Jim do that when he was trying to adjust the doors. Allen removed the lower and shafts, straightened them the best he could, then used a grinder to cut out the concrete so it would not bend the shafts again, reassembled the rollers and track, adjusted the springs that were wound wrong, put stops on the track so if and when the door was raised manually it would not bend the lift rod that attaches the motor to the door as it did before the power was hooked up to the door openers. Allen had about 4 hours or so making all the adjustments to the doors. Now they look and operate the way they should. Both my wife and I feel that you are out of line in stating that we “have taken advantage of a good hardworking and honest man”. I am sure if you would take the time to talk to Mike Bogle or any other people working on our project they will tell you that we do NOT take advantage of people. On the contraire a lot of people have ether taken advantage of us or at the very least have tried on this project.

All of the work was professional. I would recommedn that when you buy doors get the insullated version. They are a lot quiter when opening and closing. Also the room is quiter when the doors are closed.
Description of Work: First to date I have had Arroyo Door replace five garage doors on three different properties. My first experience was over 15 years ago. I had a difficult install which I thought was going to cause a major rebuild of the door opening but Jim provided a very low cost option. This door is still being used looks great and is fully insulated. A few years latter I purchased a new home and called them out to replace the doors so I could install cabinets that I wanted. Jim showed me a way to use the cabinets and do nothing with the doors. No charge. I also purchased a unit that had a door that kept falling off the rail, I asked him to replace it. He said it wasn't necessary and could repair it. That was 14 years ago. Earlier this year after a tenant moved out the door was not working. I called them up and asked for a bid to replace the door. Jim said it wasn't necessary and repaired it. This was a few months ago and all is fine. On a rental, he replaced two doors. This was about 10 years ago. This was a very low cost bid, but all is still well. On my new home when the wood started to rot the doors I had Arroyo Door replace them. So, five years ago I purchased another new home, I would like to hire them to replace the doors, but I can't justify the cost as they are both working welll, but arn't the same quality and are not insulated. I may have them replaced anyway. Now I don't call for bids, I just call Arroyo Door.

The work was not good on the install. They tried several times to fix the doors so they would close correctly but could not get them correct. I hired other people to fix them. Now the doors work well I would never use Arroyo Door again and do NOT recomend them.
Description of Work: They made three garage doors and two shop doors. All doors were to match each other. The two shop doors were not even close. I asked them to remake them so they would match as planed. They wanted me to pay for their mistake. Then we got a nasty letter from them with a picture of their kids saying how I was taking advantage of them. Very poor people to do business with.

Jim came out to give us a bid end of December. Clean and professional. We required some guidance with regard to demolition and framing as we were converting from a one car to a two car garage. Jim provided the direction we were looking for. We explained that this was an investment property and that we couldn't afford any frills... just a basic door. Jim understood and wasted no time proposing an affordable, new door. After calling and giving Jim the job, he quickly got back to us with an install date. The installer, Steve, showed up as scheduled and did a very efficient and professional job in about 4 hours. I couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience and will always consider and recommend Arroyo Door when a garage door is needed.
Description of Work: Delivered and installed new two-car garage door.

I've never seen a more efficient outfit. I had used them to install the door. They didn't charge me for the visit. I would absolutely use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used Arroyo Door because my controller wouldn't open and close the garage door. One of them came out and fiddled with it for 15 seconds and told me what the problem was.
