This was the second project Jason Lindgren completed for me, the first being a bathroom remodel completed in early 2015. I knew then that any construction projects would have to be done by his company and so was very grateful to find him available for this project. Before beginning, they installed plastic curtains to contain the dust, then moved out the old appliances and tore out the tiles and cabinets. They also removed the built-in stove hood and fluorescent ceiling light. Right before they began, I decided to forgo the cabinets that hung down from the ceiling between the kitchen and living room, and instead asked Jason to install a peninsula range hood in the center, thus opening up the space between the rooms. He and Tom Merida, the expert craftsman who created the cabinets, agreed to the change and adjusted the bid accordingly. In order to make up for lost storage, they worked to extend the cabinets out where possible while still maintaining the visual space needed around the windows. In the living room, opposite the low wall created by the kitchen cabinets, we agreed to add a built-in cherry bookcase to provide the support needed for the quartz countertop above. They did so, adhering to code requirements to make what I wanted was feasible and safe. I had ordered new appliances, and to enable me to take delivery quickly and have them available for installation, Jason agreed to move them up from my downstairs garage as the workers completed the cabinets, and install them for no charge. Throughout the process, my new refrigerator stayed upstairs and accessible to me on the opposite side of the dining area, thus minimizing the interruptions to my life. The kitchen remodel was $8,750; the cabinets were $13,585, with everything clearly spelled out and divided into installments that I paid as each task was completed. Once they were underway, I requested the installation of two strip lights below the cabinets adjacent to the sink and two puck lights above the sink itself, which were added to the bid. When Jason began to install the garbage disposal below the new double steel sink, he found the sink depth made the exit pipe too high. He had to tear out a section of the drywall to locate the point where the drainpipe joined the vertical exit pipe. Luckily, the junction was close by and he was able to complete the connection after securing new pipe. We agreed that I would pay for the extra work, which when added to the additional lights, increased the bid by $604.98, for a grand total of $22,939.98 To center the exhaust hood over the range, Jason moved the exit hole, an addition he did not charge me for. He then repaired the holes and tears caused by removing the cabinets and florescent light, then applied mud and sanded so that it was ready to paint. He recommended and secured Victor to come in and paint the kitchen, who did a wonderful job for $400. As before, I liked all the people who worked with Jason, including James who fabricated the quartz that included a tricky sink opening that was curved along the back, and Dave who helped install the hood and took the time to explain the electrical requirements of the microwave I had temporarily moved into the living room that kept tripping my circuit breaker. My new kitchen looks warm and inviting with rich cherry cabinets and perfect lighting, and is a joy cook in and just sit and admire. I'm happy I chose Precision Built Construction and have already asked Jason to take on my next renovation project.

The project went really well. Jason within a phone call away for most of the project, and was able to relay our requests to his sub-contractors. He was able to finish the project in time and with a high standard of quality. Right from the initial interaction, to his sensible prices, to the actual project and ensuring you're taken care of, to final touches, we had a great time working with him. To this day, people who come to my house can never tell that my combined living and family rooms were ever two separate rooms at one point :)

Precision Built has done numerous jobs for us over the past few years and we have always been very happy. Most recently, we had them out to repair some of the siding on the house to prepare for painting the exterior. Now the exterior looks good as new. They also installed the electrical service for a mini-split air conditioner that we had installed and it works great.

We bought a fixer-upper that needed a lot of work. I interviewed several contractors and went with Jason and his team. They corrected several problems and we ended up completely gutting the kitchen and two bathrooms and redoing them. We closed up one exterior entrance and changed the dining room window into a new exterior door. Jason also handled exterior stucco repair and painting the whole house, inside and out. Everything turned out great - I am attaching "before" and "after" photos of some of the rooms. Would definitely hire again.

They showed up promptly each morning, taping the area off for security. They piled all the debris up nicely. The quality of their work was very precise; all joints were very tight and screws placed in a straight lines. I would highly recommend them for future work.

We have a second home with a large cantilevered deck on the 3rd story. It was a very difficult engineering job and Jason and I discussed how to approach replacing it from every angle possible. We finally decided to completely remove it and replace it with a deck, of the exact same design, except supported from below. It was a very difficult job but Jason, as usual, did a stellar job. The deck is as solid as a rock, looks great and was done on time. My family is ecstatic with the results. I won't use another contractor for anything technical like this except Jason.

Jason is one of the few contractors that we gladly welcomed back into our home. He's attentive and a good listener. His subcontractors are pros who communicate clearly and you don't mind having working in your home. Some local contractors can be incredibly patronizing to women and Jason is not of that ilk. I ask questions and seek advice from Jason and his subs and received solid advice. There were glitches in the project that Jason and his subcontractors swiftly dealt with in order to keep the project moving forward. We appreciate Jason's attentiveness. Providing "all" the details as Angie's List suggests is rather absurd. Each job is different. The most important thing is that you find someone that you trust, someone who understands your goals and objectives and will help you get there -- within your budget. That's what Jason does.

Jason & his team are all great. I absolutely trusted them being in my house while we were busy elsewhere or with just our older children in the house. They basically had to gut the existing bathtub/ shower & surrounding walls and start over due to a plumbing leak that went unattended for who knows how many years prior to our purchasing of the home. They also built a step in front of the tub as an added safety measure & tiled it beautifully. All the tile work in particular is fantastic. Wish I could post pics.

It went really well, the quality of the work was excellent. The one snag is that we did not have all the required materials on site for the work when he came, which led to serious delays. Once Jason gets you in his schedule, you want to have everything in place to complete the work. If not, you need to wait until he has another opening, which might take more than a month.

The work began on December 30, 2015 and continued, with a break for New Year's Day, into the next week. Everyone connected to the project was professional, honest, friendly, and efficient. The men tore out the old tile and backing, inspected the wood, and removed the old tub. All the discarded materials were hauled away. They installed the new tub and Jason did the plumbing. They then installed new insulation, cement board, and a vapor block sheet. Jason knew that having a bathroom out of commission for any time was inconvenient, so he kept the down time to a minimum. I had one night without the use of the toilet while the floor tile set, and then they were back the next day, finishing the job. Finally, my dream bathroom was complete and it looked beautiful! During this process, the toilet was removed and reconnected several times to keep it available for use as much as possible. Perhaps in one of those moves, something fell into the drain. In any case, I had problems in the weeks that followed with blockage in the toilet and tub, but Jason responded quickly and did his best to clear it. The third time, he hired a plumber to snake and camera the drain. The problem was resolved and has not returned. Throughout, Jason remained calm, professional, and kind in his dealings with me. I liked all the people who worked with Jason; they clearly respected me, my daughter - even our little dog - and were careful to keep us informed of every step in the process. I also noticed that they spoke respectfully to each other and never made negative remarks, even during the arduous process of pulling out a 300+ pound tub. I now have a wonderful deep tub to relax in after a hard day's work. It is a beautiful space and I'm happy I chose Precision Built Construction. I will definitely hire Jason again for my next renovation project.
Description of Work: Jason Lindgren and employees removed the tile and linoleum from my bathroom walls and floor, installed insulation, cement board, protective liner, and tile. I paid for the tile and grout, he paid for the other materials. After receiving the bid of $3850, I asked him to factor in a new bathtub, which he did, charging $1000 additional for the removal and installation of a new tub. I purchased the tub at Home Depot and he and his men transported it to my home.

It was great to work with Jason. He listened to us and helped us to fulfill our goals. He doesn't push his will upon clients like other contractor may. He was always courteous, upbeat and helpful as he could be. When things went awry as they do with any remodel, he was willing to make amends and fix them. We have rarely wanted to re-engage the services of people who've worked with us on our home but Jason is definitely an exception.

Two of the windows are sliding and two are sheet glass. The scope of the work was to remove the old windows and replace with new. The windows are high and heavy, not easy to maneuver and install. All went well. Jason picked up the windows and delivered, which was not part of his original bid. Because he did that, I did not ask for the Angie's List 5% discount. His bid was already the lowest of several bidders. One accident occurred: one of the original windows broke. Jason and his crew cleaned it up immediately and well. After all was done, I eventually noticed a board that was missing a piece; it was not an obvious damage. Jason returned and repaired that with no complaint. Jason and his assistant did a good job cleaning up afterwards; there were small pieces of debris that were not immediately obvious that they missed, but the cleaning up was better than most of what I've seen, over the years. Jason went beyond the scope of the agreement, performing touch-up painting and, as mentioned above, delivering windows from the supplier. He also gave me some good advice about caulking the siding on my house. It has been four months and the windows work perfectly and look good. Communication was good. Jason responded well, kept me informed, and kept to his schedule. Jason and his crew were pleasant and intelligent, besides their diligence and competence. Jason is on my very very short list of contractors and carpenters that I will hire for additional work.
Description of Work: The price includes the new windows as well as Jason's labor. He and his crew of one replaced four front windows with double-pane windows.

Jason is the owner of this business. He was very responsive with his call back (called me back in about 10 minutes), courteous, professional. When I described the work I had that needed attention he said that it sounded like fairly simple and general "handyman" type jobs. I'm assuming he had bigger general contractor type projects because Jason said that because the work sounded fairly simple he would send somebody else over, an older gentleman named Dave. I was fine with that, totally fair. I know a lot of people can do these tasks on their own it's just that I have absolutely no handyman knowledge whatsoever and no real tools. Jason vouched for Dave as a good guy and because of the nature of the task he should be in and out and not "milk the time." Overall, having Dave work at the house was a pleasant experience. He is a really nice guy, friendly. And he did good work. I'm no handyman but I figured this was fairly simple work and even Jason thought so too over the phone. I thought at most the whole thing might take 2-3 hours -- I ended up getting charged for 5 five hours. I think there should have been better communication if Dave thought the work was going to go beyond 2 or 3 hours because then I don't think it would be considered an "in and out" job, like Jason said. I would have given this business an "A" for price as I thought the $65 per hour for labor that Jason charged was very competitive, especially with the peace of mind that comes with it that this business is "legit" being bonded and insured as well. But I went with the grade of "B" because in the end I felt like there should have been better communication if he expected the work to take more than 3 hours, meaning I would end up paying over $300, so it felt like the job was indeed milked for time and ultimately my money. I was told Dave would arrive between 9-10am, he arrived around 9:45. He left around 11:30 to go to Home Depot (only 3 miles away) to pick up one wood door frame and other miscellaneous materials required for the job (that is the $24.74 included in the total cost of $349.74 for the job). Dave said he would take about a 30 minute lunch break. He didn't get back to the house until about 1:45pm. And then finally finished at around 4:30pm. It was fortunate that I didn't have any other plans that day but to stay at the house all day. Thus the "C" for punctuality and professionalism. I was torn about writing this review at all as both Jason and Dave seem like good guys doing good work. I understand things don't always go as planned or expected but that is why I wish there was better communication so I wouldn't have received the negative surprise at the end. I think I would use these guys again but next time I will probably get more clarification on the timeline of the project.
Description of Work: 1. Removed hair from one bathroom sink drain (no tools needed). 2. Secured one loose door knob. 3. Installed bigger dog door over the hole in the door from a previously existing smaller dog door (so, fairly simple since he already had a hole in the door to work with). 4. Replaced and patched wooden door frame where dog chewed (this is just the frame, not the door jamb). For the door jamb that was chewed on by the dog, we figured it would save a lot more time and money if he just applied wood putty, sanded it, and painted it instead of trying to replace the entire door jamb which would turn out to be a big project.

Jason was extremely responsive - he called on his way to the job, he called if he was running late, he asked about convenience for me in scheduling the job. He encountered some water damage that increased the price of the job, but was in constant contact with me about the problem and the additional work/cost involved, and involved me in every part of the job. He was punctual and professional, and left the job site clean. It was a pleasure to work with him, and I would both recommend him and use him again.

Jason was timely and structured the electrician, plumber, tile man to arrive exactly when they were needed. The demolition was done very quickly and efficiently without putting anywhere else in the property at risk of accidental damage from the tear out activities. The electrican needed upgrading which was spotted and taken care of. The plumbing was done to an excellent standard. The tile work exceeded expectations. Costs were well contained. If Jason was to arrive later than he had previously stated, he communicated in good time to let us know the score.

I purchased a $299 Big Deal for a general contractor for a day. I was looking to have some remodeling and electrical work done. I contacted Jason a few weeks after the coupon expired asking him if he would still honor the Big Deal and he agreed. The timing was actually better for him because he had had a very busy season. This was in early 2012 and I have been trying to work out a date for him to come to my home to check out the projects. Jason was always too busy and kept telling me that he would let me know when he had time. I emailed or called about every 6 weeks and, finally, in February 2014, got him to come to my home. My husband asked Jason some questions about the electrical work but he was unable to provide satisfactory answers and he said that he would come back with his electrician when he returned to town late the following next week. I contacted him about 10 days later and he said the electrician was out another week. We set up a date of 3/2 to meet with them. The day before, Jason called me to tell me that Dave's truck had broken down and he had to cancel. I then requested a quote based on what he had seen of the other projects but he declined to provide one until he returned with his electrician. After another week, I asked him to set a time/date when Dave would be available. We finally set one up for this morning (based on Dave's schedule) and Jason emailed yesterday to confirm that they would be out between 8-9am. At 9:10, I called Jason to see if they were on their way, because my husband had to get to work. No one answered so I left a voice mail asking Jason to call me and let me know what was going on. A few minutes later, Dave the electrician showed up, without Jason. He said that Jason's wife was ill and that he had to stay home and watch the kids. The whole point of the meeting was to have the electrician and the General Contractor in the same meeting so they could answer my husband's questions and so we would know how the project would be handled. That Jason never returned my call or even emailed to let us know he was not coming was not a good sign. We have found that good communication and a willingness to honor commitments usually results in good quality work and we have also found the opposite to be true. That is has taken 2 years just to get an appointment and the resulting sloppy follow through is, we believe, a good indicator of the quality of workmanship and professionalism. We want to work with people who take pride in their work and who value our business. We know that good contractors are busy but this has gone beyond even my patience. We have requested a refund.
Description of Work: Unfortunately, it has taken over a year of emails and phone calls trying to set something up and I have lost my belief in his ability to do a good job for me.
