Excellent. Hugh built a fence within my price range and specifications, did beautiful work very efficiently. It looks good from both sides. He discovered a neighbor's sewer cleanout which had been installed on my property illegally. I appreciated this as I need to have the situation corrected. His wife, Michelle, is a very pleasant manager of the office. I enjoyed working with both of them

I contacted a handful of contractors to fix our fence and The Fence Guy was the only company that returned my call in a timely fashion. For that, I give them major kudos. Hugh came out that week and gave me an estimate that seemed fair, but since the city was paying for it I was more worried about the quality of the work than the cost. Hugh was booked for three weeks, but we were impressed with his friendly demeanor and decided to give him the job. He came out on 4/23/10 and began work. Since the support beams were pretty much intact, he only had to realign them, level them and then install the new 1"x1" slats. He used a mix of slats that he brought with him and approximatley $45 worth of my private stock of slats, which we keep on hand for such repairs. The work took a few hours and when it was done, I inspected it. He explained to me that he did not measure everything correctly before he poured cement around the support post, but at first I didn't notice anything was wrong. But after he left, I took a closer look and noticed that the gate was very wonky and wasn't closing properly. I took a leveler and inspected the support post and it was crooked. I called his company back and rescheduled a follow-up visit the next morning. He arrived on time and I showed him the crooked post and the wonky gate. He didn't seem to have a clear plan for fixing it and even mentioned that there's not much he could do "without doing it all over again." But he said he'd give it a shot and I went inside my house. After about an hour, I looked outside and noticed his truck was gone. I walked up to the fence and the gate looked more straight and it was closing properly, however he had done this simply by loosening a metal bracket along the base of one of the beams. It seemed to work, but I was disappointed that he just left without speaking to me. For that, I would give him bad marks for professionalism and I will not be hiring him again. Overall, the fence looks pretty good but given the custom nature of our fence and our house, I expected better craftsmanship and was disappointed that he didn't measure things correctly before doing the work. And the fact that he left without talking to me, just shows that he didn't stand behind his work. I would give him good marks for responsiveness and excellent marks for punctuality.

The overall experience with Hugh, the "fence guy," was wonderful. He contacted me with an estimate (and a very reasonable one!) only 2 hours after coming to view the fence. He arrived promptly (actually, early) on the agreed-upon day for the job which he thought might take a day and a half. Instead, he and his son finished it in 8 hours (and this was after I changed the design on him at the last minute!). He was very courteous and professional and did a beautiful job on the fence and the gate. My neighbor on the other side of the fence is also extremely pleased with his work. I highly recommend him. All communication with his office was also very positive.

The fence guy did come out and looked at the areas where I wanted a fence to be put in. It was great that he did come out even though it was not in a timely manner. I was definitely interested in him doing my gate and my fence, as he totally understood what I was trying to explain to him. He got my vision of what I wanted and so, I was really excited to get a quote from him. However, I never heard back from him. I did call a couple of times and left a message for him in his office. I spoke to a girl in his office and she told me that he was very busy, but also told me that she would ask him to get back to me right away. I called 3 times to follow up, but never got a response back even once. I did tell the girl in his office that I wanted to use his services, as he seemed to be knowledgeable. I would have liked if he had at least made a courtesy phone call and told me that he was busy. His responsiveness wasn't good. He did come out at the scheduled time, but it was a week after I made the appointment. He didn't do anything else other than show up. He came out on time during the first appointment. The most important thing was the follow up part and it was totally unprofessional of him, as he never called me back. It wasn't a good experience overall. I wouldn't use his services in the future.

We have used him before and he gave us the best price. He always takes care of any problems or concerns and he came when he said. We would use him again.

We discovered that the fence material would need to be fireproof for it to be effective. He didn’t have any connection with a supplier who could provide us material for a fireproof fence. At that point I decided not to go ahead with A Fence Guy. We wanted material that wasn’t flammable. I think he was really busy and didn’t have time to find a supplier for the material that we requested. He was very responsive, though. I wish he was a bit more proactive in finding a suitable supplier for us.

He was professional and explained everything. He was easy to get along with. He knew what he was doing. I would use him again if need be.

Very well. We found the Fence Guy to be prompt, reasonably priced and did an excellent job. He submitted an estimate, which was very reasonable and much lower than another quote we received. He showed up early, was very friendly and completed the job in atimely manner. He cleaned up the area and hauled away all the old fencing.

He was very responsive. He came over to give me a reasonable quote and didn’t try to over sell anything. He was very honest and very timely. It took him an extra day because of few difficulties, but he didn’t adjust the price. He got the job done.

I was totally impressed with the entire process from initial contact, the bid and the installation. Hugh is an expert in vinyl covered chain link fence.

Hugh did a great job. He arrived on time and finished in the amount of time he had estimated. After fixing the major problem that we had called him out for (one side of the gate was sagging), he pointed out that it would be stronger if the other side was attached to the side of our house. He asked if we wanted him to do that, too, and only charged an additional $25. Both of our gates work perfectly now. He even added in a little string so now I can open the gates from the other side.

I recently called A Fence Guy to install 2 gates at my home. I left him 2 messages and he never returned my calls. I guess there are some jobs "too small" for him. I would not refer anyone to a business that does not return calls...

He did a great job. The work was completed within the time and price quoted. Very reliable, showed up on time every day and provide quality work.

Hugh was excellent start to finish. He showed up on time for the estimate which was a huge problem with other companies I tried. He showed up on time daily and finished in the time frame he originally quoted. Hugh also took items into account regarding the safety and concerns of my neighbors. His estimate was lower than three others I received. Hugh is professional, prompt, and a nice guy.

He did a fantastic job for us. He was very accommodating to our schedule and he did a really great job. I am really happy with the results. It was our first time using them.

Everything was really great. They were very punctual, and got everything done in a really good amount of time. He did everything himself, although he did have his son with him for one day, but just for half of the day. Overall, we are completely satisfied, and we would recommend them to others.

Excellent work. The job required moving existing fencing and removing fencing completely and installing hardware. They were on-time every day of the project. They kept at the project. They were not thrown nor did they overcharge for additional work added at the last minute. The owner performed much of the work and he was excellent to work with. They were also very timely and competitively priced. I will use them again.

Everything was excellent from start to finish. The vendor came out for a quote the very next day and had the job completed in less than one day. In the process, he removed the old fence and trimmed some trees that were overhanging from our neighbor's yard. It was a very professional job. Everything lined up correctly and he carefully avoided any sprinkler heads. As a matter of fact, he used better materials than our neighbor's fence which runs along the front part of our house. I have no hesitation in recommending A Fence Guy.

My old fence had been infested with termites.It was attached to RV garage\carport structure and removed the fence and the structure as well.The guy came down and gave me an estimate. He completed the work. It was a bit expensive. He made it so that the fence had a flat face on both sides. I am very satisfied with how it looks. The work was performed promptly and it looks good.

After scheduling an appointment, the owner showed up on time and provided a quick estimate for the job. He provided a couple of separate figures depending on how I wanted the fence installed, the type of material and so. After agreeing to the price, we scheduled the installation time by phone. He showed up exactly on time--if not a little early--with his son. He estimated that it would take 2 hrs, but it took only about an hour and-a-half. The installation proceeded without a glitch, and I paid exactly the figure given in the quote. I cannot really assess the quality--after all, with fences, it's a question of durability over time. But, everything looks solid, and I am very satisfied. The owner was very personable and courteous. I know the price was good, because I had one other quote, and his was a good $200 less. The only glitch was the first contact. I sent an e-mail and a followed up with a phone call. I think it was a little while before he got back to me. But after the first contact, he was very easy to get in touch with.

Hugh came to our house right on time and listened to what we wanted in regards to the fencing along the back of our property. He offered suggestions and explained how he would do it. He got back to us with a very good quote, and began work two days later. He was all done in a day and a half. He does all the work himself, and with one other worker. He is very professional, yet easy to get along with. He also fixed a gate latch problem that we had on another gate. We were very happy with his work and the way the fencing looks. He did a great job!

I was very pleased with the result. It's not easy to reconstruct a fence and make it look as it did before the damage, but he succeeded quite well. He put everything "back the way it was," as much as possible, using new wood only where needed. This was an insurance job, and even the insurance company was pleased with his price. I am pleased that I now have a fence person to use for future jobs.

Initially, Hugh was great. When we called him to come out, he came out the very next morning. We spent about 20 minutes talking about the fence, what we wanted, etc. Hugh took measurements and left. This was over one month ago and we have never heard back from him. We never received a written estimate and did not receive a call back, despite our calling him (which we should not have to do if he really wants the work) and leaving him a message. It's a mystery what happened to Hugh.

He seemed knowledgeable and really listened, but never called back with an estimate. He promised to email me pictures of his work, but didn't. When I called him repeatedly, he didn't return calls. Finally, I reached someone who said that he was too busy to do the job. This was in January. I thought the whole thing was handled unprofessionally.

Hugh did an excellent job from start to finish.
