Lennox was a pleasure to work with. My wife and I both work, so he scheduled our initial meetings at times when we were available. He answered all our questions and gave excellent advice. The work went flawlessly! They were in and out in no time! We plan to use him again in future projects.

We are very pleased with the work done by Len Smith and his team from Seacliff Construction. Everything was done professionally and competently, and the result is exactly what we wanted and looks beautiful. The workers were punctual, friendly, courteous and fun to talk to, and responded to questions and observations promptly and professionally. The work site was always kept very clean, and they took special care to make sure construction dust etc did not get into other parts of our home. Len provided just the right amount of design advice; he listened carefully to the wants/desires we expressed, and made reasonable recommendations to help us get what we were looking for. He let us know if any design decisions along the way had an effect on the original project budget estimate. The project was complete ahead of schedule and within budget. We will definitely contract with Seacliff again for any future home improvement projects. I have already forwarded their contact info to several friends who have seen and admired our new kitchen. Thanks, Len, Seth, Scott & Carlos!!!

Description of Work: Seacliff Construction demolished almost 800 square feet of rotted out upper and lower decking and railings and designed and constructed replacements. This project was complicated by being on a hillside with difficult access. The crew was hard working and cheerful in the face of these less than ideal conditions, hauling everything old uphill and everything new downhill. During reconstruction, everyone on the project showed pride in their craftsmanship. They all have great attitudes, and they were always kind, accommodating and willing to be flexible. They look out for each other, and the foreman on the job supervised the crew very well. The contractor's (Len Smith) relationship with his crew is excellent. Some of them have been with him for ten years. |Len is a great communicator, keeping us well informed along the way and ALWAYS responding promptly to our calls and e-mails. He made almost daily visits to the job to check progress, and kept in constant contact with the foreman and crew by phone as well. We never felt we were hanging out on a limb with unanswered questions or concerns. |Concurrently, we were (and still are) in the process of working with a different contractor (whom Len found for us and who has turned out to be the perfect contractor for our job) to restore the shingle siding of our house and stain/repaint shingles, stucco and trim. We ran into some needed repairs on that project, and Len had his crew take care of those for us (they really can do anything), which helped us immeasurably. |We are very grateful to have worked with Seacliff Construction, and would not hesitate for a moment to do so again. |

Job was very well managed from permits to clean up. Plans professionally drawn single person on site daily managing progress. Great communication on how project was going and how cost was doing. Len the owner was always approachable with questions and concerns. Professional above all else. The job was the best construction task I have ever had done.

Seacliff Environmental Services & Construction is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. It was not a project we went forward with, but he is probably an excellent service provider. He was great, as far as coming to the jobsite. He was on time. He was very helpful in letting us know that a geological report would probably be required for this particular property and he told us who the go-to person to go to for that was. That was really important and he knew exactly who we should talk to.
Description of Work: He came out to give us a bid but there were some issues with the property so we didn't go ahead with anything.

The president of the company came out and did the inspection. He was on time. There were no signs of mold. My tenant said there was a musky smell every now and then. The house is close to the beach. He checked the outside walls, inside, water meter and under the house. He found nothing. He mailed me a report of the work and inspection.

Very good experience. Mr. Fort was prompt returning my call/email and we met as soon as our schedule allowed whereupon he did the (both visual and with a moisture gauge of some sort), and sent a report detailing his findings and recommendations. Fortunately, there was no remediation necessary this time, but I'm sure that it would have proceeded efficiently and at a decent price. I'll call this company again!

It went about as good as mold "exploration" can go. They used all the proper PPE, HEPA filters, etc...They didn't find any mold behind the walls, but did find a rats nest in the bathroom wall. Which was certainly good news to not have mold, but just tough to swallow that we just paid quite a bit of money for a service we didn't really need (totally our fault!). Mike graciously adjusted our price since there wasn't much remediation to speak of and the scope of work was minimal. Overall he saved us a few thousand dollars over what the other company wanted to charge us and he saved our walls from being completely ripped up. We have plaster walls so we aren't able to repair them ourselves, so this saved even more money. The only reason I gave them a "B" overall is because Mike "guaranteed" us there would be mold in the bathroom wall which showed 100% saturation the day he came out with the moisture detector...so it made sense that there would most likely be mold in there. I'm thinking that due to a water leak that occured that same evening causing major flooding on the bathroom side of the house the meter gave an increased reading from the water pooled under the house (which happened to be gushing when Mike arrived to do the walk through and he helped us find the water main to shut off - really appreciated that Mike!). The wall was never re-checked when he came back out with his workers the next week, and Mike left before they began the work to go provide estimates for other clients. He told me to call if anything came up, which I did call and left a message at one point, but didn't get a call back until after his guys had finished for the day. Overall, Mike knows his stuff, and if we or anyone else we know has a real mold problem, I would definitely recommend these guys!
Description of Work: Mike came out and gave us an estimate for mold remediation. We had already had an inspection from a different company that we were questioning how accurate it was. Mike reassured us it wasn't as bad as the report made it out to be and did a thorough inspection inside the house. He's very experienced and professional. He gave us a quote to do some exploratory work. His guys came out and did the work: Removed sections of the walls where there was question about mold (two bedrooms, family room and bathroom). They removed all the materials from the site and left it clean and opened up.

Our home had been through 4 separate contractors working on various projects before we were introduced to Seacliff Environmental Services and Construction in 2005. My wife and I could immediately see a difference. The Seacliff Environmental staff was knowledgeable beyond any other contractor services we used before. Our design plans were well thought out and detailed by the expertise of Lennox Smith. He designed projects that were within our budget and scope. He patiently guided us with the eye of an architect and precision of an engineer. His team arrived daily on time as well as being very courteous to my wife and children. They were excellent at making sure they cleaned up at the end of their day. Lennox has always followed up after the completion of each project to ensure our satisfaction. That is why we will continue to use them for our needs. The next project on our kitchen will be completed this Spring by no one other than Seacliff Environmental Services and Construction.
Description of Work: Since 2005 Seacliff Environment completely upgraded the electric, plumbing, central heating through out our home (built in 1958). They have remodeled both bathrooms including custom tile work. Replaced all windows and sliders with double pane windows. Replaced the roof. Replaced all plumbing including water softener and tank-less water heater. Updated and grounded all electrical. Painted the entire exterior. Replaced and upgraded 900 sq. ft deck. Replaced central heater and all heating ducks.

Seacliff Environmental was recommended to us by two good friends, so we were confident in hiring Lennox to help with our bathroom remodel. Never again! First, the job took much longer than necessary. Our bathroom is approximately 8 feet by 12 feet and the above tasks took them seven full work days to complete (to qualify, the tile was not complicated - subway tiles (12 x 24") on the floor and 12 x 12" tiles on the tub surround). Second, the finished product does not jive with seven days of work. Our floor tiles are uneven and the surround tiles are misaligned and do not meet up in the corners. Third, the finished remodel resulted in THREE leaks. The first came from an improperly adjusted plumbing valve. The second came from a faulty installation of the tub itself (they installed it without removing the painters tape after they applied the water barrier membrane), and the third came from a cracked vent pipe that was broken during the tube installation (it leaks when it rains). Lennox came back (begrudgingly each time) to fix the first two leaks but has yet to return to fix the third (14 months after the remodel). When he returned to fix the tub leak, it was very clear that he thought i was being unreasonable in having him return. To try to diagnose the problem he tried to cut a hole in the wall of our office but did not have the proper tools to actually remove the piece of wall. He came back the following day and abandoned that wall and cut a hole in our bedroom wall. They were able to find the leak from there and had to remove some of the tile to fix the problem. After fixing the leak, a drywall subcontractor came out to patch up the two walls that were damaged in the process. As the drywaller was finishing his job he asked when Lennox's crew would be out to paint. I called and asked that question of Lennox and he told me to paint it myself because he was leaving for vacation and didn't have time to bother with it (which was the same response as to why he could not fix the broken vent pipe). Not a very professional response and a complete customer service fail. His crew was pleasant and courteous, but I will never recommend their services to anyone.
Description of Work: We did all of the demolition ourselves, installed the new drywall, and built and installed the countertops, sinks, and sink fixtures. The tasks they needed to complete included installing a new tub (including some subfloor repair), tiling the floor and shower/tub surround, installing the tub and shower plumbing fixtures, installing a interior glass block window, and mudding the drywall.

Response from Seacliff Construction and Design
I have been up most of the night trying to come to terms with your review of my company, and the gravity of the situation. I can’t tell you how surprised I was to read your comments and how disappointed I am that we failed to meet your expectations in your bathroom remodel. I thought we had a cordial, professional rapport and I really wish I had known that you were unhappy or that there were unresolved issues. Our company thrives on attention to detail, and we have an outstanding reputation. I don’t have any email record or remember any messages regarding a vent pipe, so please allow me the opportunity to come out and investigate and make things right for you. In terms of a pre-existing vent pipe leaking in the rain, the problem is most likely due to a fairly common roof jack seal failing (there is a rubber seal around the pipe as it goes through the roof, and over time these can deteriorate and will leak), and not a broken vent pipe(that has never happened in all of my years of construction experience). I will know for sure once I investigate. Regardless, I want to make things right and make sure we stop that leak. I am truly sorry that we had the leak with your tub. While these types of issues are very rare, when they do happen it is my goal to take full responsibility and act in a swift, professional manner to rectify the situation. To clarify, the first issue we discovered was actually a faulty gasket on the waste/overflow valve for the tub. A simple reseating of the gasket and tightening fixed that issue. The second issue was caused by a rubber gasket used to seal the edge of a “drop-in” tub. We discussed the potential issues of not having a built in tile flange on the edge of the tub prior to installation, and even though we took extra steps to mitigate, the gasket did not seal properly as it wrapped around the corner of the tub. I take full responsibility for that and I responded to you the day you emailed me and we set up a schedule to fix it. I thought we did a good job of repairing that and taking the extra step to retexture the entire wall in the bedroom to alleviate the pre-existing texture problem on that wall. In terms of asking you to repaint the wall, I regret asking and wish I had handled that differently. Even though (as you mention) you guys were doing a lot of the work(demo, casting your own concrete countertops, painting, etc.) I showed a lack of judgment there. That is definitely on me, and I should have been more sensitive to your feelings. In terms of the timeline, the 7 day timeline for the project is reasonable given the scope of the remodel. I originally thought it would take a couple days less than that, but we added the floor prep and floor tile, and the drywall repairs and finishing to the original scope, and there were some issues with the existing walls and framing that were unexpected. That is why we needed the extra time. We discussed this during the process and I thought you were happy. The same goes for the tile. I did not notice any issues with the tile when we did the walkthrough, and I don’t recall any negative feedback. However, I am more than willing to look at it with you. There is a reason we came highly recommended by two of your friends and there is a reason why the vast majority of our business comes from personal referrals and repeat customers. We really do care, and I try very hard to please every customer! Please give me another chance. Cheers, Len

Our landlord did not want to clean up the mold that was overgrowing the interior of our rented home. The city finally sent him a letter to do something about it and he hired Seacliff. The gentlemen came out quickly and began to diagnose the problem areas, remove the existing mold and put in barriers to prevent the mold from returning. They really took up our cause with the landlord and let him know how dangerous it is to have a family living in the conditions that he had here. They made him understand as a homeowner, it impacted his ability to keep the home as a rental property. The workers were very friendly to my kids, easy to get along with when I had to come and go, trustworthy with my belongings, and didn't sit around on the job.
