Friends recommended George. He had done the interior & exterior of their two-story home over 10 years ago & I was impressed with his workmanship & the longevity of the results. George was very personable & helped me choose my colors. I agreed to his estimate of $2,800 & did not get anything in writing regarding the job or price. On the 1st day of the job, George informed me that the situation was worse than he had expected, & that they would need to pull off all the old paint on the house down to the original stucco as the paint was peeling off in sheets. The 2nd day he brought in a fourth man in order to speed up the process. This person went home early, after he & one of the other painters got into a loud verbal argument. He returned the next day. The job was completed as to when we agreed upon, although George said it had taken longer than he had expected. George had worked the previous weekend & was to work the next weekend & made me aware that he was behind. He said the job had cost $1,500 more than the estimate, but that he was going to charge me only an additional $1,000, which I agreed to. I also gave him, an additional $200 in cash, as I was pleased with the way the house and cement porches and walk way looked. The crew was in a hurry to get to another job which they were starting that day. So George & I agreed that he could e-mail me the invoice. Also, he told me that the paint chips that were left in the yard could be blown away by my lawn service. George came by the next day to return something to me & I pointed out where the porch paint was showing tiny little cracks. He said he'd be back later that week with some sealant & I assumed my invoice. That was in October of 2008. We are now in February of 2009. Since then I have called George numerous times to remind him & let him know: 1. That I have still not received an invoice. 2. The tiny fissures on the porch & walk way have not been addressed. 3. The paint is pouching, peeling and rubbing off the porch and walk way (Kelly More said it was due to poor adhesion). 4. There is peeling of the house paint (poor adhesion). 5. How to remove the paint chips which stick to everything & probably include some lead based paint (house built in 1946). 6. Also, I will need to buy new paint for the front of my neighbor's garage where his crew sprayed primer and house paint. This I I did not report to him. I repeatedly left information on his phone as to how to contact me by: e-mail, phone & address. In Dec 2008 he replied via voice mail, that he had not sent the invoice because his computer scanner was broken. According to the contractor board web site his contracor's license was cancelled on 9/1/07. The letter I sent to the address listed came back as undeliverable. The Fax # on his business card did not work. Another contractor came by & said that the cement areas had not been properly done & it would cost $600 to redo.

Description of Work: George Fluksa, and his crew painted the living/dining room, kitchen, entry hall, and home office. We recently had window casements and crown molding installed in these rooms which had sub-standard mitering, many holes and gaps. Fluksa painstakingly filled all these holes and gaps and now they don't show at all. He was prompt, efficient and accommodating.
