Tom's Iron Works

Replaced an iron fence of 155 feet with superior iron fence with addition of a gate. Very professional and performed the work on schedule with little disruption to plants and trees.

We had an accident, a driver came crashing into our yard and knocked down a portion of our wrought iron fence. I called Toms Iron Works and spoke to Sam Lee, he came out and gave me an estimate. His was the lowest estimate of 4 other bids, plus I liked his professionalism. I also asked him to repair the latch on the gate and one other small area that was not hurt by the accident and he agreed. Sam arrived on the date scheduled and did a wonderful job, the fence looks great, and the latch and other area was repaired. He painted each other area that he worked on, I am very happy with this company and I would use them again if needed.

The best part of using this provider is that they are fairly low cost and they did the initial work quickly. However, the quality of work needs improvement. After the initial work, I called them again to adjust the gates because they did not close properly. After they came out the second time, the gates worked much better. However, one of the trash enclosures still did not have the middle fence hole drilled deep enough into the concrete so that the locking mechanism does not function properly. I called two times to have them come out and correct it but never got a response. I guess I'll keep trying to call them.

Sam came took measurements, drew a sketch of the property, and gave a price to replace the fence. I told him I had a couple more people coming to provide bids and that I would get back to him. In the end Sam had the best price and the material they were going to use was comparable. I called Sam, told him I wanted them to replace the fence. He came out, I signed the contract. Three weeks later they arrived with our fencing material and over three days removed the old fence and installed the new fence. It looked great when they were done. They even fixed (by welding) one of the broken pickets in our side gate. Overall very satisfied.

It took them about 4 times to finish the job. They said the job would be finished in one day but it took two days. They did not tell me where they put the new keys to the gate. I had trouble getting information over the phone and went down to the office in person to find out. Then one of the gates separated and the gate would not lock. They came out again and fixed it, but by that time a one day job turned into several weeks. There was too much effort on my part for what I thought was a simple job.

Went quite well. Once the work got started, this company excelled. Quality overall was top notch, especially regarding details, craftmanship and responsiveness to my suggestions/requests. Value is very very good. I got four other quotes from other contractors. Three quotes from the other contractors were quite a bit more expensive (up to a third more than Tom's) and one was a few hundred less than Tom's. I don't think the most expensive contractor could have done a better job than Toms did-Tom's value is their strong point. Considerate of my budget and was kind enough to throw in a minor extra or two. I am very detail oriented and not easy to please regarding quality and value but this company exceeded my expectations.

Tom's Iron Works was able to come over for an estimate on the same day I called. The work started the next day when my husband and I decided we use this company, in part because of the fabulous Angie's List rating but also because the price was competitive and the employees were professional in every regard. Things were completed on time and all questions were answered quickly. We will definitely use Tom's again for future work.

Excellent. Sam arrived at the promised time and gave an estimate. He performed the repairs in 2 1/2 hours. I am very pleased with the outcome.

Sam came by on a Saturday morning per our request and provided a bid. He worked with our schedule. Sam was also the gentleman that performed the repairs. The fence is good as new now. After 4 hours of hard work on a hot summer day and no complaints from Sam, you can't tell any repairs were ever made. He kept the worksite clean and was right on budget. We had another company come out for a bid that said they couldn't repaid the fence because there was too much damage, They wanted to replace the fence for 10X the price. If you're looking for a company to restore your fence, this is the one! Oh yeah, we also asked him if he could fabricate something to prevent our dog from sneaking under the fence where are yard slopes. Rather than try and explain what he did, trust me when I say it was a simple, effective, brilliant idea that I would have never come up with on my own.

Sam was able to show us several pictures of recent fences and gates his company has completed in the past year. This was helpful in deciding what our finished look would be. He was on time and gave us our quote in two days.

They came out for a site visit and were said they would provide a quote - they never did. No follow up. Since we have to drive an hour to this property - it was a complete waste of time.

My steel gate would not close because the masonry wall it was attached to had settled over the years. I called in the morning. They called back in the early afternoon and we set a late afternoon appointment. Mr. Lee arrived on time. He quickly assessed the problem, explained the cause and the solution, and quoted a reasonable price. The work was completed in an hour. I was impressed by the fact that he had the parts to do the job. I would highly recommend.

It was a great experience. He came out exactly when he said he was going to. He gave us a great quote. It was ready about the time he said it would be. It was fantastic. He is really detailed oriented and made sure everything was perfect.

I was extremely pleased with the overall experience. Tom's Iron Works was prompt in returning a phone call requesting an estimate. I showed them the work I wanted performed, and was offered a book containing examples of gates. There was an adequate number of examples to choose from; everything from plain gates to gates with accents, see-though or solid, to gates with or without deadbolt locks and/or locking door knobs. I was allowed to pick the color I wanted the final product to be, and in an interesting coincidence one of the colors was a matching color of the trim on my home. The gate was ordered, and after a short wait the work proceeded as planned. The workers were efficient and hauled away the old wooden fence gate. Excellent job!

Mr. Lee and his crew did an excellent job. Our house was built in 1960 and had some issues, however, Mr Lee worked everything out with a big smile. We may be thinking about some fencing and we will contact Mr. Lee for an estimate when we are ready to install the fencing.

I needed a new fence put up in my front lawn. Tom came by and gave me an estimate. His price was lower than other estimates. Due to positive feedbacks on Angie, I went with him. Tom and his co-worker arrived on time and completed the work in a day. He did follow up the next day and added re-enforcement for support. I was pleased with his work and professionalism. He fixed a broken door latch at my existing inside iron fence at no additional charge. Great service and price. I would use Tom again in the future.

Tom's Iron Works repaired my wrought iron fence. He replaced two rusted sections by cutting them out and putting two new pole sections in. He replaced a small 2x3 section and welded on the original decorative piece to the new section. He painted the new parts. He spent about 5 hours doing the job. A new complete wrought fence would have been around $900. I was able to get the repair done for $280. I would used them again

Prompt response to call for service. Got quote and agreed to job. Showed up on time and finished job in 3 hours. Gate looks great and quality is top notch. Only problem is left some smudges on wall and walkway.

He was really great. I told him what I had in mind and he did a sketch for me. I told him I liked it and he told me to give him two weeks to make it. Everything he did was on time, he did great work, and we are really pleased with the final product. I didn't price out any other places because his price seemed fair to me.

We contacted Tom's Iron Works when we saw their great reviews on Angie's List. They came out next day to give us an estimate. Their price was much lower than a few other bids we received, so we went with them. The work was done fast and beautifully! The custom wrought iron railing turned out amazing. There was a little bit of a language barrier but it was fine!

Tom's Iron Works was outstanding from the beginning. I called them about a possible repair/replacement of the front fence and gates. I was able to make an appointment within 48 hours to meet and discuss options. Sam arrived on time, was very courteous, and organized. He brought a collection of photos in albums for me to look at for ideas and there were definitely many good designs to choose from. After discussing options for repair or replacement, I decided to go ahead with plans to replace the whole fence and all gates to make things uniform. He gave excellent info about the various gauges of metal that could be used and care required to maximize the longevity of the new fence. There was absolutely no pressure to choose one gauge or design over another. After a few days passed and other quotes were gathered by other reputable companies, I decided to hire Tom's since they could do what I was imagining, were more affordable, and could get the work done within a time frame that worked better. Another meeting with Sam was arranged to draw up a more detailed plan for the design and type of iron to be used . He understood my vision of what I wanted the final product to look like and was able to customize it to meet my vision. Fabrication and installation occurred within two weeks. Two other men, not Sam, came out to install the fencing and gates. I wasn't able to be there for the entire intall & finish work, however, they seemed to make good use of the time to complete the job well. It wasn't rushed since they were there for most of the day. All iron work was replaced and looks fabulous! I am happy to recommend Tom's Iron Works.

A small repair job that was handled as well as a person could hope for. Quickly and with a fair price.
