I called Joel for a free estimate of installing wood shutters for our living room windows. He came over and gave us a very honest description of the overall cost and the work that would be done. We had called several other vendors before contacting Thrifty Shutters. Thrifty's estimate was by far the best. Custom made shutter for our arch shaped windows turned out to be the most expensive, but we got a good price. We did have to wait 7 to 8 weeks for the shutters. The wait was well worth it as the design and the quality of the shutters met our expectation. The installation process went well. The only blemish was the appearance of a couple of chip marks. Our installer took care of those right away and he left us a small vial of touch up paint. I would highly recommend Thrifty Shutters to those who are interested in wood shutters for their windows.

I found Thrifty Shutters on Angies List and engaged them to do plantation shutters for my house. Joel was very responsive and came out to measure. He measured all the windows, taking copious notes, and took pictures of unusual angles/transitions. The installation took place yesterday and everything went perfectly. The windows were exactly as described and better than any even the models shown off by other companies. The entire installation process was only about 2 1/2 hours - and it would have been quicker except Al (installer) made hundreds if small adjustments to make sure that each and every window was perfectly square and all gaps were consistent. I was very impressed with the product and the professionalism of Thrifty Shutters. I would recomment them without hesitation to anyone looking for a premium product at a competitive price.

I got other estimates, but the other companies I think get their shutters from vendors out of state or out of the country that could not do custom work. So they were very vague about matching or just didn't call back when I asked to see an actual sample. When Joel Brown came to give me an estimate, he started measuring all the dimensions on the shutters and the border and even counting the louvers (something that others didn't do) so I knew he was the man for the job. I wanted an exact match, not "kinda sorta" or "close enough"! And an exact match is what I got. They used my old knobs so they would match too. The cost was in line with other estimates, if you throw out the really high ones. The installer is very professional too, on time and did a great job. He even fixed a broken louver on another shutter. The shutters are actually made by one of their employees so you can get exactly what you want--you don't have to accept what a vendor offers. They took an old shutter to match the paint, and they did it perfectly. I would recommend them for sure!

We had a great experience with Thrifty Shutters from the very beginning. Joel was very prompt in answering our request for a quote, coming to our house the same night we contacted him to measure and give us an estimate. Once we decided to move forward, it was about 7-8 weeks of production time (Joel estimated 8-10, so they were right on schedule) and the shutters were ready. The installers who came to the house were awesome - not like some contractors who might make you feel uncomfortable with their unprofessional behavior. These guys were pros and worked incredibly fast, doing a wonderful job. They were even willing to take down AND haul away all of our old vertical blinds since we live in a town home and did not want to be in a fishbowl before the shutters arrived (ie no coverings on the windows). I can't say enough positive things about Thrifty Shutters. From the responsiveness of Joel - who returned any phone call promptly, to the professionalism of the installers, to the gorgeous window coverings they made for our home, we had nothing but a great experience. I highly recommend Thrifty Shutters if you are looking to add a beautiful touch to your windows at a reasonable price! You won't regret your decision!

CALL THRIFTY SHUTTERS if you are looking to beautify your windows ? you won?t be disappointed. I found Thrifty Shutters on Angie?s list. I gave them a call in late March, 2012. Joel came out and measured my odd shaped living room window. While he was doing that, I looked through his book of interior styles. I had originally planned on the window only, but I have a large open space that looks right into the laundry room. As I glanced through the book, I saw accordion doors. Perfect, perfect, perfect for this unsightly opening looking into the laundry! Needless to say, I asked Joel to measure that area also. Joel also provided me samples of what the shutter and door would look like. After several changes to the installation ? all due to my schedule ? Tom came out today and installed my new shutter and accordion door. OMG ? they look so good. Now when anyone enters my house the first thing they will see is this beautiful shutter. Tom did a fantastic job, not only did he fill in an open area along the side of the window with wood, he even hung my curtains! Both Joel and Tom were extremely professional, helpful and knowledgeable. I feel that I got a bargain

Joel was our salesman and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He came and took measurements and showed us his products. Besides his estimate we had 2 other companies give us quotes. However, we chose Joel at Thrifty Shutter and we were very happy we did. The shutters came out Beautiful and really made a big difference in our living room. Everyone comments on them. Overall, the experience was great. The shutters were installed the day they arrived and they were so quick. The shutters look beautiful and the price can not be beat! I would recommend them to everybody.

Joel came on time and was extremely professional. He walked me through the entire process. I initially wanted shutters put downstairs and blinds upstairs. Joel let me know that the shutters would take some time and I didn't want to wait. This was my fault, I should have had this done much sooner, but I had family visiting and needed something done quickly. He said he could do the blinds within my time frame and so I agreed. I was extremely uneasy about ordering the blinds without seeing them as he brought samples for the shutters, but I took a huge leap of faith. I am happy to say they came out great. The valences they picked are great for me and Joel's installer was great. The blinds look fantastic. I'll update this listing if I ever have to get any work done under warranty, but Joel warranty's his blinds for life as long as you're in the same home. I've already recommended him to family who all commented on how nice the blinds look. For the money, I think they did a fantastic job. They weren't the cheapest estimate I got (roughly 2 to 3 hundred more), but everything was done without hassle and I am very content.

I called Thrifty Shutters and spoke to Joel Brown about termites that had completely eaten my shutter frame. I mentioned to him that it was impossible to fine the same frame molding. He said he would help by making the framing material and within 3 days, he called and I picked it up. Joel went out of his way to help me out, he also, had great shutter prices for replacement shutters. There is no doubt in my mind that we will go with Thrifty Shutters for any shutter replacements.

Just finding someone was hard enough to replace a four panel shutter and do some minor repairs on shutters they did not install. They took the shutter off-site to do it. That took longer than I wanted, but they did have it ready exactly when they said they would. I'm really happy with the final product.

Had shutters put in for 2 windows and a large sliding glass door. Joel (owner) and his crew showed up on time and installed in a couple of hours. Crew was careful to keep the jobsite clean and did a quality job on each shutter. Cleaned up after themselves and even patched som old holes from old curtain rods. Would use Thrifty Shutters again in the future.

They were good. I spent about $350 on the job. I liked their price; they were more competitive than the other company. Their quality was as good as the other company. I will use them again in the future.

Excellent. They told me it would take 8-10 weeks to get my shutters but they put a rush on the order and it took just under 8 weeks. I would highly recommend them. The shutters are beautiful, well made. The color is excellent with all of the remodeling I did.
