Description of Work: Initial pricing was highest of 4 bids received. Fortunately, the MESA sales rep was willing to work with me on the pricing and configuration. Highly recommended to all future garage door buyers that you do your homework, get several bids, and negotiate for the best deal. | |Installation crew arrived within the appointment window, but they came at the end of the time slot. Given that I was the 2nd of 3 installs that day, I would've preferred to have been told "between 11 and 3", rather than "between 9 and noon" (with an arrival at 11:30). Not a particularly big deal, but more realistic appointment windows by MESA would be nice. | |Installation crew (of two) was exceptionally efficient and clearly experienced....each fellow did his respective portions of the install and the process went very smoothly. Peculiarities with my door opening, along with necessary adaptations (furring, trimming, etc.) were handled in-stride and quickly. However, they were a bit too heavy-handed in trimming; leaving a hammer-induced crack in my side jamb. Again, no big deal (as a line of caulk on my part will completely take care it), but furniture-grade craftsmanship, this is not. I understand their drive to keep the pace - especially when they have 3 jobs to do in one day and each nominally takes 3 hours to complete - but when their main trimming tools are a sawzall and a chisel, one should expect some roughness. | |My biggest concern was with the interactions of the field crew. I don't expect them to be instant 'pals' and I understand that English may not be their native tongue, but a bit more friendliness, congeniality, and appreciation would go a long way with client relations. I gave them both large glasses of water, I had already taken down the old track and (heavy) old opener motor for them, and I did more clean-up then they did (to try to help them do their installation work), but I got luke-warm responses (at best) from them. Oh, well. Lastly, they did set up the exterior keypad for us, but there was essentially nothing in the way of training or a quick run-through of the manual (which they just left on my workbench)....and they did not even ask if the interior control panel was positioned to my liking (which was placed too high and which I have since repositioned myself). | |In summary, the door products are EXCELLENT (we are exceptionally pleased with the hardware), the installation was expertly done (albeit a bit roughly), the pricing was competitive (after some firm negotiations), the old, clunker door and hardware was removed, and the overall experience was very good. I would recommend MESA to my friends (and there is a referral program by MESA, too). A bit more client relations by the field crew would be one area of desired improvement, though.
