Coastal Greenscapes

I used Coastal Greenscapes based on a neighbor's recommendation, and am I glad I did! Peter and his crew did an excellent job with everything! It took a little bit of time to get booked, but he is busy. However, they showed up on-time and as promised and stayed with the job until it was done. Peter was a great resource, was patient with all my questions and really helped me flesh out what I wanted to do and stay within budget. He was familiar with the water rebate process and timing which helped me secure a sizable rebate. The quality of materials used is quite high. And, the price was right. I am really, really pleased with the final result. There were 2 small problems, and Peter came out personally to work on them, and fixed them to my total satisfaction. The biggest plus to me is how responsive he is, problem resolution and his willingness to help. I recommend them highly and would use them again.

With the water restrictions in North Tustin during the current drought, our lawn was brown and dry, just ugly. Coastal Greenscapes in Anaheim had previously installed synthetic turf for two our neighbors and their yards always looked super great. One homeowner has had artificial grass for two years and says that it still looks like it did on the day it was installed. We saw his front and back yards. Both are beautiful! So we contacted Phil Garcia (phil@scturf.com). He was the most knowledgeable of any of the salespeople to whom we had spoken. Later we visited the Anaheim location where Phil works. It was an educational experience for me. Phil explained the entire process of removing the existing grass and installing synthetic turf. I had no idea of the multiple steps involved. No wonder it's expensive to have it done... and have it done right. And, what Phil told me that day was more than a sales pitch, because when the work was actually performed at our own house, I watched a team of extremely competent workers as they performed every step that Phil had described. And they did it with a degree of care and skill that one seldom sees. It was particularly rewarding to see how diligent they were cleaning up after the job was done. Needless to say, our yard now looks beautiful. I am very happy to recommend this company, Phil and both the demo and installation teams. We will use them again, and again. The project took way too long. It was initially quoted to be a 8-10 day project but turned out to take 1 month. Over that time, there were several occasions where guys were promised to work on my home but did not show up. They dug up the shrubs along the side of my house and left them out of the soil for over a week. Currently, half the shrubs are dead now. Guys were lying down on my driveway during the job - for which the owner said that they are entitled to a 1 hour lunch break. The end product turned out nice but the customer service was one of the worst. I got empty promises and the run around throughout the process and would not recommend them to my worst enemy. The customer service is basically what gives contractors bad reps - working on other projects(they had a project for the Marriot Hotel) and dragging their feet on my project. It was entirely frustrating.

They dug up our bushes that were in the way and had everything done in two days. We also had a small area where they installed pavers. The yard looks great, we're very happy with it. The only complaint I have is the pet odor. We installed the zeo fill but within just a couple of weeks we could smell the dog urine. That is disappointing since we paid a few hundred extra for it.

Mat, the sales rep was very responsive and worked hard to meet our budget. Overall it looks really good. But when you look up close they missed polymeric sand in some joints. The grass got ripples shortly after being installed. Mat said it was due to it getting warmer outside and he'd send them back out to stretch it out. It took over a month to get them out to do it. I mentioned the missed polymeric sand in some joints and showed a couple to the head guy that came out. He said it was just for preventing weeds from coming up and keeping the pavers in place, but the ones I showed him were cemented in so they did not need it and since they were at a slight angle the sand would not stay in anyway. Well, if it's polymeric sand, there's glue in it, so if they put it in and wetted it down lightly it should stay. It looks weird to have some pavers with no sand in between. My other main complaint is there is so much dirt mixed with the rocks they installed that weeds grow in it. What's the point of putting down weed barrier when you put so much dirt in the rocks the weeds grow there. That was my only complaint with Mat. When I mentioned that to him and sent him a picture of how much dirt there was after moving some rocks to the side, he just said it's normal. As I said, overall, it looks good, but I would probably try another company if I had this kind of work to do again.

The final product looks great. The salesman, Peter, came out about 10 days ago with several different samples - we ended up going with Tiger Turf. Their prices were the best compared to everyone else that we called. They were very accommodating to us. The 2 person crew was professional and great to work with. They left everything neat and tidy. They really were a great company to work one.
