+ -1 moreThey lied to us about the cameras just to make a sale. They tell you it's extremely cheap labor to hire some one to do it for you. The reality is it cost a lot to install these cameras, it's not just a plug in kind of thing. They will tell you what you want to hear. I do not recommend them at all!!

+ -1 moreWe have on several occasions accidentally set off false alarms and called ADT's emergency number to advise them it was a false alarm. We were on hold for 6 - 8 minutes before talking to a live representative. By then the police had arrived. Our city charges $150 for false alarms (1st one is free).
Description of Work: ADT has very poor call responsiveness.

Description of Work: When contacted could not answer basic questions on cost of monitoring packages and on services offered without me giving extensive contact and personal info so they can return my call with a high pressure commission based sales call. Used them years ago when they bought out my local company. Bad service all round. Avoid.

+ -1 moreThe installation went fine. The workers were competent, worked quickly and explained everything. But, the company's attitude toward us as long term customers was certainly not positive. We had had ADT for over 15 years and needed to have more update equipment installed. Because we were not new customers and even though we had never needed to use their services, ADT charged approximately $800.00! However, new customers get free equipment and also free installation (I think). Charging us a couple of hundred dollars would have been okay, but charging us full price was insulting. Because we were about to leave home for a while, we had them do the job. However, there was no smile on our faces. Incidentally, we did not get the ADT service and equipment through Angie's List; we dealt directly with an ADT approved business. Because I was asked by Angie's List to review ADT, I decided to do so.
Description of Work: They replaced existing ADT equipment.

+ -1 moreThey make appointments and seldom show up on time and on three occasions not at all. Their customer service and attention to detail is terrible. We have been with them on at three year contract that expires in three weeks.. Yeah!!
Description of Work: We have a service contract with this company that we are cancelling as soon as it expires. They were paid additional money to run a new line from gate camera's that they lied about doing to the cost of $2000. They will call you if a sensor/alarm is triggered and will tell you which zone was triggered but they could not tell us where the zone was located.. awful!!!

+ -1 moreStay away from Lois St Bernard and ADT, or get everything in writing, to my opinion to charge more for wireless than hard wire is a scam.Mrs St Bernard had sent a crew of 2 to perform the job,however the crew decided that they could not install the hardwire on 18 doors and offer to switch to wireless, i thought i will get a discount but did not ask for one , Mrs St Bernard shows up on the job which she previously visited ( she should have known if the hard wire was doable, in fact she claimed it was , since she signed the contract and took a 50% deposit. On the job was my contractor ,myself the owner ,the 2 crew from ADT and Mrs St Bernard, she suddenly ask for an extra $640 to do the job wireless, when i told her it does not make sense , she acted very pushy and threaten to leave the job which she did . Few days later her supervisor call as i wanted my deposit back immediately ,and offer to reduce the up charge to $320. At that point it was doing some damage control as i told him i should sue ADT.
Description of Work: we received a quote for 1500 for a pulse system, with hard wire contact on 18 doors , the technician was not able to install, so we agreed on wireless, less labor for ADT ,but the account manager shows up and ask for $640 more for wireless, she claim each wireless contact is $120 , i refuse to paid the extra $640 so she ask the crew to leave and waisted my time.

+ -1 moreThey always call me. I used some other company and then ADT Fair Oaks kind of bought them, so I kind of inherited this company. They did not install the system; they are just monitoring it now at this point. They just called me last night after I accidentally set off my alarm and they called me right away. Their response time is wonderful. They are working with Sacramento county sheriff. I am synced in with their services. I have a monthly billing with them. Fortunately, I have not had to use them for a burglary or somebody breaking in, but as I said earlier I have accidentally set off my on alarm and they called me within seconds of my alarm going off as I found my phone ringing and it was them. They are pretty fast. If they do not find me at my home number the next call is to my cellphone. If they cannot get me on my cellphone then they call my backup person and if they cannot reach them then they call the sheriff. One time my alarm went off shortly after I left the house and I had just run over to the store and I left my cellphone at home, I was gone for about 15 minutes and when I came back I had the sheriff in my driveway. Their people with whom I have come in contact with have been pretty good. The people who are monitoring the alarm have always done what they are supposed to do. They have always communicated well over the phone with me. Their price is about average.

I am really not sure why they had such issues, but I had a higher expectation from one of the leading home security firms in the US. Once they finally got it installed it works great and I love the entire Pulse security system. Mi would give the system an A on the review scale.

Description of Work: I have a warranty for all parts and my security system. Tech was supposed to show at 8 - 9 a.m. I received a phone call at 8 a.m. stating there was a meeting and the tech could not be here as scheduled. He would arrive between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tech showed up and informed me I would have to pay $10.00 for the battery and if they had to replace the keypad it would be another $500.00. I explained to him I've always paid extra for a warranty on my system that covered all parts and batteries. He said that had changed. I showed him the front door. Being very upset I tried several times to get supervisor that could help me: Mary I.D. # 1183136 was the most helpful and did verify my policy covered all parts and batteries. I did ask Mary if I could talk to a supervisor about the tech that came out and she had Kesha I.D. 69966 call me. As a supervisor she knew nothing, couldn't give me any information and did very little but give me another number to call. *******Update******* ADT did admit the error and gave me three months free monitoring. They came out this week and serviced the system, batteries and all. I have respect for any company that can admit error and work with their customers. I will be staying with ADT.

+ -1 moreVery frustrating experience; The tech arrived in an old beat-up car and no uniform, (first warning). The house was already pre-wired for an alarm system which they chose to ignore and put up sensors that you stick to the wall, the control panel( I found out later) was out-dated; one of their older models they don't use any longer. They system didn't work properly and it took several service calls to fix it and they even moved the control panel to a new location which left the wall damaged. I think I realized the biggest problem with ADT is that I called a dealer (not realizing it at the time) when I should have only dealt with corporate. Corporate was very helpful but I was already turned off. If you use ADT be sure to call the Corporate office and not a dealer; if the tech doesn't arrive in an ADT vehicle send them away.
Description of Work: There were so many issues with this company. Installation was approx. $100.00 plus the monthly fee of $45.00 for two years. The company installed an alarm system for the house including doors,windows, and a motion sensor.

+ -1 moreI have had ADT service for approximately 15 years. My original service was with Brinks, that was then purchased by ADT. I recently changed the floors in my house to carpet from wood. The original installer had installed wires just under the carpet. With the new floors they had to be re-routed. I called ADT and they wanted to charge me $700.00 for the first hour only. If it took longer they wanted $125.00 per 15 minutes thereafter. This is a ridiculously high price. While I did expect to pay something, this is unreasonable. ADT is only interested in getting new customers, while not taking care of their loyal customers. It also took me 10 minutes before I could speak to a representative because I had to listen to 10 minutes of sales pitches offering vacation trips with no option to skip. I would not recommend ADT to anyone. I can get a new alarm installed for free from many other vendors and will be doing just that.
Description of Work: Re-route wires that were installed under carpet after changing to wood floor.

+ -1 moreOverall it was not a terrible experience. I went with ADT because they have been around for many years and had the technology I was looking for in a security company. The installation price was high. And they do not do home installation without a two year agreement. I don't think the installation was very professional. I think there is more to running wires and giving the customer the best experience.
Description of Work: I have an old house and ADT was hired to run wires to each access (door / window). I understood very well that they would have to make holes in the wall to run the wires. Everything was completed on time and within the scheduled allowed. Since, my new house is empty I allowed the installers to work there without my presence. There are some issues with the installation that would lead me to not recommend ADT for anyone else. 1. After the installation the house was left a mess wherever the installers worked at. There was dust, debris, and wood shavings all over the place. I would think a professional installation would include keeping the work area clean and cleaning up after one's self. 2. I went into the attic to see how the wiring was ran and in my opinion it was not done professionally. The wires were ran everywhere across the floor. Nothing was tied down, tied up, or ran along the edge of something to keep it out of the way from anyone doing work upstairs. 3. I was having some concerns with my service and contacted my sales rep by phone and email. 10 days later he decides to contact me. That is after I called their toll free number and local Anaheim branch for assistance. When he was trying to make a sale I could get a call returned very quickly. 4. When the sensors were being placed to cover to hallways no one bothered to tell me that its location would not detect one of the hallways. It was discovered after I questioned the placement. 5. When holes were created in the dry wall a portion of the molding was also damaged. Unlike drywall I cannot patch the molding. It has to be entirely replaced. 6. I do not like their policy that they only do professional installation on weekends. Mine was a two day job that they would only do on the weekday. 6. I contacted my sales rep to help resolve these issues. He did not respond to either of my emails or phone calls for 10 days. I will comment on their service after a few months.

+ -1 moreI received an estimate for a residential system through ADT Anaheim in Jan. 2010, which I accepted. I paid them in full for the installation at that time. I had to postpone the installation due to an unexpectedly extensive remodel, which ended up taking 7 months.. In August, out of the blue I received a check from an entirely different branch of ADT in Colorado, refunding the entire amount I paid them. I would have at least expected a follow-up call at some point asking if I still wanted the system to be installed, but I never heard a word. I would have called them myself, but I was a bit consumed with working on the house. After receiving the refund check, I called to see if the estimate was still in their system and if I could schedule an installation. That message was supposed to be passed on to the sales office, but I never heard a word back from them. I think my experience is typical of a large corporation that has many branches and subcontractors that do not interface well with each other. Based on what I've heard, I expect the installation and monitoring would be ok - if I ever got it. I'm not willing to jump through hoops to get to that point, so I will be looking for another alarm company.

Description of Work: I called Brinks to have a sales rep. come to give me an estimate to see how much it would cost to alarm my home. They wanted $75.00 for the estimate. Anyone that charges for an estimate should not be trusted.

Description of Work: Installed security alarm for two doors and a motion detector. Brinks provided two of their signs for the front yard and stickers for each window.
