Description of Work: Lopez Tree Service is a family owned business which has been operating for over 20 years. Alberto Lopez, who was in charge of the tree trimming for our homeowners' association, is an agronomist and very professional. We needed six trees trimmed, and he provided us with a detailed estimate of what he planned to do. The workers arrived promptly on schedule and Alberto was present throughout the entire period of the trimming itself. The work was quite satisfactory. I would definitely hire him again.

Description of Work: The rave reviews are a mystery to me: Three phone calls and two weeks later, no one has come to provide a promised estimate and the last two calls have gone unreturned. That's not my idea of good service.

This is the outcome to my first experience as an new Angie's List member. Bravo! Arturo bid the job and did as promised. Five 10" diameter ficus trees removed from tight quarters, six to seven podacorpus trees topped and trimmed, and assorted dead branches removed from large tree.

Description of Work: Selectively pruned and thinned a large persimmons and 2 crepe myrtle trees in backyard. Work done as promised. The owner, an arborist, was present to direct the work. Employees were careful, removed all debris . I was particularly impressed with the quality of the pruning which was done properly, not excessively which can happen in my experience. They carry liability insurance and worker's comp and are competitively priced.

Description of Work: Excellent work, efficient, complete post-job clean-up, friendly, on time, job took less time than scheduled. I am impressed that Arturo is taking over the family business and his father is still working with him. Arturo is a certified arborist (we checked credentials); the company is licensed with the State and they have Worker's Comp insurance in force. Anyone who hires a company or individual without these consumer protections is fooling themselves that they can save a buck by cutting corners. Licensed, bonded and insured companies like Lopez Tree Service, in addition to their quality work,at a good price (others wihout licensing bid higher), provides the consumer protections not offered by many vendors doing this work. We will hire Arturo's crew again and intend to do so. Also, an an arborist, he knows the proper method for pruning trees-it is an art.

Description of Work: Arturo was very good at keeping up with communication over a two week period from estimate to removal. When we agreed on a date, he and his crew arrived on time, worked quickly and professionally removing six small trees, one mature peach, and substantial trimming of a cherry. All this involved being careful of power lines as well as stump removal. The work took about two hours and the yard was left neat and clean.

Description of Work: There's a happier story about the ultimately unused gardening services. I was looking for someone to remove a dead palm that another company had topped a year and a half ago because it was growing too close to the power lines. I called four or five contractors, most of whom completely blew off my request, though one did come out for an estimate after repeated calls, and Lopez Tree Service gave me an estimate the same day I called. I was impressed with the man I spoke with at Lopez. He was very responsive and an excellent communicator. The cost for removing the palm ($700) would have been considerable, but it was actually $100 less than I would have paid a worker from another company, who gave me the estimate only after repeated calls over the space of two weeks, and whose English was so poor that he needed to communicate with me through the dispatcher. The fellow at Lopez Tree Service communicated very well about what he could do to remove the tree and make it possible for me to plant something else in its place. I will probably use Lopez Tree Service in the future for other work on the property, even though I ultimately found a contractor and found a way to put the palm removal on a list of jobs to be done by a work crew under contract. They will remove the palm for FREE.

Description of Work: We had one large tree removed and other trees around our property trimmed back, and the deadwood removed from within the trees. Arturo Lopez came out and gave me an estimate, and filled me in on what work would be done. He was very complete and answered all my questions. We scheduled a date for the work, and Urturo, his dad, and his men (his fulltime workers, not day workers) came right on time, and did an excellent job. They cleaned everything after the work was done, and did a walk around with us to make sure it was complete. I will use Lopez Tree Service for my future work and I recommend them .. A+++

Description of Work: Spoke to Arturo and from my description of the tree, he was fairly sure that the tree needed removal. He came to see the tree and explained what had happened to the tree and why it needed to go. He couldn't set a date that day, but called to set the appointment a few days later. Arturo and his father removed the tree with no damage to my home or yard. The cleaned up everything and were done in less than 3 hours. He is licensed, bonded and fully insured.
