Escobedo Tree Service

Used Escobedo to trim 3 trees in my rear yard a little over 2 years ago. Overall they did a decent job, especially since the previous owner didn't maintain the trees at all. The only significant complaint I had was that they didn't trim the branches that overhung into my neighbor's yard. So the tree looked a bit lopsided with the limbs on one side hanging lower than the rest of the tree. Now 2+ years later, the main large tree is in need of trimming so I call Escobedo to get an estimate. This is when the issues began. First it was nearly 2 weeks before they returned my call. Not a problem as I'm not in a hurry, but fairly unprofessional. When the appointment for the estimate time arrives, I get a call letting me know they're running late (which ends up being 1.5 hours late). Again, not a big issue for me. The 2 guys arrive and I show them the work that I think needs to be done. It is a much smaller job than last time and I don't think the other 2 trees need any work. They push saying I should do all three. I say ok, but give me an itemized estimate such that I can see the extra cost and not do the other 2 trees if it's too expensive. They agree, but then ask me how much they charged last time. I know, but pleed ignorance as I want them to provide an estimate for the current (smaller) job rather than just quoting what they did last time. They say they'll go back to the office and will send me an itemized estimate. Now, here it is 8 days later and nothing. I call them and the guy answering the phone looks up my info. He says 'oh yeah, we need to look up what we charged you last time". I explain once again that I'm only looking for the 1 tree to be done and need an estimate. He says he'll call me back by the end of the day, but never does. Very, very unprofessional. If you're not interested in the job (even from a repeat customer), just say so. Also, quote the job you are to do rather than just charging what you think the customer will pay. My recommendation is to avoid them. They seem to do decent work, but they are shady and very unprofessional in their pricing.

I thought they did a good job.

I called them and left a message. they returned my call the same day and made an appt. to come out and give me an estimate. They were always on time, came in on the estimate and did a wonderful job.
