Long story short: Be careful with this company. They provide the services that you didn't ask for and charge the work that they didn't do. I call this company for applying a retaining wall permit. Kevin answered the phone, and I explained him I am going to build a retaining wall in my yard. He said ok. Then he sent me a contract for survey. I didn't look it carefully, then I signed and sent it to them. It is $2982. He sent his daughter here. Even though I explained what I need to do in my yard when they were doing the survey, they still did the survey. Kevin said no matter what, you will need this survey for your land in the future. Okay, I explained what I need to do again, then he charged me $2000 extra. After the first time plan review from the city, it was failed. I talked to Kevin, and he said he knows what to do. He charged me $900 for the soil pressure, I am not sure they did it or not. And he want to charge me $1550 for the quantity of the earth calculation, but I figured it out by myself. Or I will throw $1550 away. He sent me the plan and I submitted to the city again. I also let him know what the city want to correct and show on the plan. You already knew, it failed again! I don't have the patient or money for another failed plan. I already spent $5882 in total, but I didn't even get what I asked for. I will do the small claim and go with other company. In the end: Save your money and choose some other company.

I contacted Kevin to discuss wanting a land survey completed. He was very polite & answered my questions. I asked him to email me a quote for the job. Not hearing back from him after a few days, I contacted him again as a friendly reminder. He apologized & said he would send it later that day. Once again I did not hear from him, so a few days later I sent him an email (instead of calling). I NEVER got a reply or call back. I can't comment on his work but I can't give him a better grade because of him dropping the ball.
Description of Work: Nothing. He did not respond after several requests for a land survey quote.

Decided to call another land surveyor.
Description of Work: I called several times and spoke with Kevin a couple of times and asked to get a quote for a land survey that we needed for our property. I received no call back or quote. I had to call again and was told that Kevin was out and wont be back for another week. I told them to just let me know if they can do it or not. I am hiring another land surveyor instead.

I researched many land surveyors and decided on CaliLand Engineers. The seemed very professional and immediately grasped my problem. Kevin Lai completed my Flood Elevation Certificate and helped me lower my insurance rate by approx. $550. His men completed the project on time and were very thorough. Kevin answered all phone calls and patiently helped me understand what needed to be done and why. He spoke to 2 engineers from FEMA ito see if my property qualified to be out of an existing flood zone. He also informed me that to continue doing an expensive detailed topographical survey would be of no value as my home would most likely still be in a flood zone. I recommend him for his integrity, knowledge and competence.

We needed two surveys done. A topographical and boundary survey for a home construction project on a small hillside lot with lots of trees. The level of difficulty of this survey was high due to the fact, it is a very old community in the Canyon Community in Sierra M****, where nobody knows where their property lines really are even with previous surveyors. Talking over the phone with Kevin made me feel comfortable. I looked at several surveyors on Angie's List, but chose Kevin because of his proximity to my home. I explained our lot and he sent me an estimate that was reasonable, which I signed to allow him to begin work. When Kevin came out, he explained that many of the original monuments have been removed over the years. He and his engineers came EARLY and had already marked many locations of the potential monuments by the time I arrived. The problem was that many monuments set by other surveyors where not recorded and were no use. Because of this, the project took several visits by Kevin and his engineers, but they eventually got it. Kevin will work hard to do things the right way, and in order to do so, he had to and quot;clean the mess” in my tract. When completed I received a PDF file of the topo map and record of survey map (which gets submitted to the County for recording), and an electronic file of all the elevation data. I was amazed at the level of detail in the map. Even the winding rock staircase and jagged roof lines were defined, trees were marked, gas, water meters located, etc... At the end of the topography boundary survey, I also asked Kevin to set monuments on my property to ensure my property lines are protected, in case other monuments in my tract are damaged or removed. Setting monuments did cost me $1900 more, but I wanted peace of mind after talking to my engineering coworkers. Therfore, adding the cost of survey and installation of monuments ($1,995+$1,900) resulted in a total of $3,895 for me. I wanted it done, even though I didn't need to. Overall, I was very satisfied with Kevin’s effort, patience, and ease to deal with during this survey project.
Description of Work: 1) Perform engineering research at City & County for all related record maps and survey field notes for record boundary evidence. 2) Perform field survey to locate existing physical boundary evidence, spot elevations, building corners, matured trees, wall & fences. 3) Perform boundary analysis for the referenced property and calculations. 4) Measure 2 neighbors' building setback. 5) Prepare Topographical Survey Map with l' contour interval & show boundary on said map.
