We got an estimate from them. We were really impressed with their estimate and what they wanted to provide but we ended up with another landscaper. The estimate was reasonable. I guess they were limited on their time regarding when they were able to give an estimate. So I'm thinking that maybe one of the brothers is a stay at home dad. It seemed he could only come after school. It was hard for me to be at home when my husband received the estimate because I couldn't get off work. The only reason McCaffrey Brothers didn't get the job because I wasn't home for the estimate. The other guys knew that the husband and wife had to be present in order for the thing to go forward. That's the one thing that maybe McCaffrey Brothers need to take into consideration. Just don't meet with one spouse, you have to meet with both or you're going to lose it just on that.

I like that they were able to make us feel comfortable about using them and were up front about everything. I felt they were of a different cut from other companies.

Darren McCaffrey did the design work which costs extra depending on how much time you want him to put into the design. Kevin McCaffrey oversaw the project once they started. I had originally sought out a consultation some time in September 2011 but communication via e-mail thereafter was sporadic as they had other projects going on and I wasn't too in a hurry at the time. When I was ready to go forward with the project it was hard to set a date down because they got featured to be filmed for the TV show "Curb Appeal" and it sounded like they were busy, but this was not entirely the reason for the hold up as I was also waiting for the HOA to give the ok. Pluses: They are willing to work with whatever budget you have, their design & plans are GREAT (do check out photos of their work on their website), they are very professional and courteous, and they clean up very well after they're done. Minuses: It took a little while to get a reply from them after I had contacted them that I was ready to start the project, they UNintentionally broke my water hose nozzle for which they said they would replace but I am still waiting for the replacement, and the price is a bit high BUT I was willing to pay it even though I question myself whether the price could have been negotiated (while some may want to shop around for a better deal). All in all, I am GLAD I went with them because their finished work was beautiful and I plan on going with them again if I re-do my back yard.

Having had a bad experience with a different landscape contractor, I was very cautious about finding someone to work on my project. I eventually selected McCaffrey Brothers partly because their referrals consistently mentioned that they were easy to work with, and that they?re not primarily out there to make a profit. I would absolutely agree with that assessment. Prior to selecting them, they provided me with a detailed proposal. Each area of the project was its own ?mini-project.? I knew exactly what was being priced, from the materials being used, down to how it was being constructed. I also used them to design the layout and finalize a plant selection. Over a few consultations, they were able to take my general ideas, and develop a landscape design that not only fit what I wanted, but also fit my budget. Once we settled on the design, the execution happened flawlessly. They engaged me every step of the way, and created an atmosphere where I didn?t feel uncomfortable asking questions or providing my comments ? even if it meant some rework on their part. In addition, there were changes to the newly-built vine trellis that they recommended to ensure the long-term stability of the structure -- and without any prompting on my end, they offered to absorb the costs. I am extremely happy with the outcome of the project ? from conceptualization to execution. I would -without any reservation - recommend McCaffrey Brothers, and plan to use them on subsequent phases of my landscaping.
