It took alot longer than what the estimate said it would. Terri, the owner is very knowledgeable and knows all about the pool business. But it seemed her management led them to close the business.

Initially they were very responsive and great to work with. The design to casting took about 2 weeks. After that it went down hill. I had to constantly call them to get anything done. Their concrete work is below average with no clean lines or curves. The biggest negative is they have horrible customer service. In order to get anything done I had to threaten refraining from closing on the house until completing their work which would have black balled them from the builder. Then the front office personnel would make things up saying that it is getting done as we speak when I was looking at the pool and no one was there. It seems they want quantity over quality in the jobs they do resulting in well below average customer service

We reviewed and accepted the plans, gave them their required down payment, and signed a contract. Contract start date was to be in the first week of February 2017, and completion April 8th 2017. Demolition of the existing decking started as planned on 2/3/17, but it took two weeks to complete. Evidently they only work between 10:00am and 1:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday according to my security cameras. Their "plumber" cut all the lines in a perfectly working system to pressure test them, and as of today 4/14/17 has never returned to finish the job.He was also supposed to install 'planter sleeves " for future irrigation under the new decking...that never happened. We asked for an automatic water level system to be installed. Their "plumber" cut one of my aerator lines and used that to feed the water leveler, ignoring the water tap that was not only indicated on the plans, but was right behind him when he installed the leveler. Deck pouring day came, and as a former concrete contractor, I was eager to see what it looked like after the pour when I returned home from work that day. I now have a stamped concrete pool deck complete with sharp concrete edges to slice up my grand kids wet feet and VERY poorly done strike joints. I was told these would be fixed over three weeks ago, but no one has returned my calls or showed up to fix the issues. Tile work is ridiculously poor, I made them come out to repair it. My benches were installed the first week of April, and I was greeted by beer cans and bottles in my yet unfinished pool. Completion Date was supposed to be April 8th but no plaster or plumber, just a call telling me the front wall of my pool needed to be finished (it was a part of the demo, that I am responsible for) or they would not plaster the pool due to liability issues. My entire yard is fenced with a 6.5 foot fence, which is code height, and would not affect the safety/security of my pool area. No mention in either the contract or conversations, involved or included the required replacing of the front wall around my pool prior to plaster or filling. We received no call or letter informing us of their intended plaster date, just a call the day they showed up. The crew that did the benches washed out their concrete equipment in my neighbors farm field, and I received a VERY nasty call from him. We asked for a price on a new pump, and were told they were giving us a deal at $1250 for a Pentair 2.5 HP pump...Leslies pool supply has the SAME PUMP for the SAME PRICE. We bought a Jacuzzi brand pump instead. Caveat Emptor my friends.
Description of Work: We contracted with them to remodel our pool (remove existing decking, replaster pool, install two underwater benches in deep end)

At first, it went well. But then it dragged on a little bit, as our job became less important, and other jobs they had "popped up" and had to be finished first, even though our project had started earlier. They finally completed the pool in the middle of June. But some problems with the deck concrete cracking, and getting them over to fix it has taken alot of time, since October 2016. They had stated they would be over to take care of it several times, only they didnt' show or call to let us know, even to this day. The pergola, which was put up in June, never did get painted like it was supposed to, even though they stated they would come to complete it several times since June 2016.

Description of Work: We put a pool in our home in the Terraces in Yuma Az, while the home was under construction also. This was the second pool Paradise installed for us in the Yuma area. They are knowledgable, very punctual, good workmanship. A few small items were forgotten about but fixed in a timely manner.I am not and have not ever been impressed with the coating applied to the pool. I would not use again..a good cement brushed coating lasts way longer. The pebbletec started to come off in chunks around the pool and spa areas. Your pool maintenance company is the most important company after the pool is installed. We installed the salt water system and had problems with that and went back to using chlorine.we also installed both gas to heat the pool quickly and electric to maintain temp. That system seems to do a good job,,but the gas is expensive to use.....The pebbletec and salt water system were expensive and I would never do those products again.

We have not heard from Joe or anyone else at Paradise Pools since October 22, 2013. This spring will end our 5 year warranty. We have been trying to get Paradise Pool to respond for 2 years, this was the first time they actually came to our home. But still no response to our problems. We will continue to call but our expectations are very very low. I will never do business with this company again.
Description of Work: Joe came to look at the problems we had with our pool that are under the warranty, took pictures of cracked concrete, broken tile, pebble tech that came off, and wires that came through the pebble tech. Joe told us that he would get back to us within two days.

To begin, the pool/spa/landscape project took 2 months longer than quoted. For the last two years we have had to call them more times than I can remember because each time we wanted to use the spa it wouldn't heat up. After waiting 8-15 hours watching the temperature only rise a minimal amount we would call for someone to come out and work on the equipment only to be told each time that the "new" pool cleaners/service guys were switching things or messing with equipment they weren't supposed to touch. In two years they rarely back washed the pool. I know this because they would backwash into the dirt dog run so it was very evident when they did. In the two years of them servicing our pool after they built it they NEVER cleaned the filter and only once toward the very end (approximately March of 2013 time frame) did they call and say that it needed to be done at which I told them they needed to contact my husband to coordinate a time. As of the point that we fired them they had never reattempted to contact us for the filter cleaning. When my husband pulled the filter out to clean it, it weighed approximately 85-90lbs because it was saturated and weighed down with sand and debris from the last two years. We took a water sample to a reputable pool service store for analysis right after we fired Paradise and the salt levels were off the charts. We had to drain our pool a foot the first time and then again we had to drain 1/3 of it just to add fresh water to bring the salt levels down to a workable level. Point being, they weren't testing, treating, or servicing the pool correctly or professionally. As a side note, multiple times they double billed us and we would have to call to dispute it and sporadically they would charge us $75-$85 to come out and fix the spa that their employees would mess up. Additionally, they offered landscaping as a whole backyard package with the pool/spa install. Within a couple of months every tree, plant, and grass died and the sprinkler and drip line system continually burst and leaked gallons and gallons of water. Eight months later I had to hire JSA landscaping to come out and re-do almost every single thing they did, to include re-doing the sprinkler system. As of today, 3June2013 we are still having problems and trying to undo the damage that Paradise Pools has done through lack of action and professionalism on their part. Paradise Pools has cost us more money, headache and frustration than one could ever imagine!
Description of Work: They built a pool and spa combo as well as landscaped our entire backyard from Nov 2010-Feb 2011. They were subsequently paid monthly to service my pool and spa once they completed the pool until the middle to end of April 2013 when we fired them for being unorganized, unreliable, and overall having employees that were incompetent.

We purchased a house with a 6-month old pool, installed by a contractor who had since gone out of business. About three years after the purchase we noticed rust appearing in one particular part of the pool wall, toward the bottom. We tried to contact the contractor, which was when we found out they were no longer in business. So, we went to Paradise Pools and relayed our story - only to find out that the original contractor is the brother of the family that owns Paradise, and was now working as their foreman. Paradise agreed to come out and repair the work, and although not for free, at a substantial discount. They came out and cut out a section of the wall and placed a mosaic in that area. Two weeks later the rust was back. They came out again, put a larger mosaic on and for a while that worked. It didn't take long for the rust to reappear. I went to the office, told them what was happening and they said it would have to wait for the fall as they didn't want to drain the pool in the hot weather. They never came back, but to be honest I didn't follow up and ask them to. Two tries was enough. I ended up getting an independent contractor to come in and repair it. He had to cut out a fairly large section, cut back the rebar (which was too close to the surface), coat the rebar, and replaster that entire section. The money spent is the costs for both Paradise Pools and the person to repair the repairs, but does not include the costs for draining and refilling the pool three times. So far, no rust has reappeared in that area. This whole process took place over a two year period, finally resolved in 2010.
Description of Work: Two visits to repair rust bleeding through the walls of the pool. Both visits were to cut out a section of the wall and replace with a mosaic.

Terrible experience. The project was begun with the owner (Terri) who is the only one in the store with any knowledge or professionalism sending George to be our project manager. He was not attentive or responsive to our needs, but the project progressed due to constant inputs from our end. Additional services that were paid for at the beginning (beach entry/pool cooler/baracuda plumbing) were all neglected and the company had to be told to go back and fix it. Once the pool was completed the company "vanished." No instructions on operations or guidance given. Additionally (and more importantly) they didn't finish their work. We paid for the upgraded pump with the ability to backwash the system. It took us multiple calls and multiple visits just to have the workers actually install all the plumbing required (which should have been done originally). They also then had to return multiple times to fix a pump that was eventually found to have NEVER worked correctly (which they tried to charge us for). For all of these extra tech calls, the guys that showed up ended up getting advice over the cell phone...not building confidence in their knowledge base. Overall the workers (to include George from the office) are terrible, the service is terrible, punctuality is terrible, and professionalism is terrible. They were the cheapest and I guess you get what you pay for.

We were originally told by the owner of the company (Terri) and our project manager (Jorge) that our remodel would take about 2.5 weeks. When the date came for them to start, nobody showed up. Company was called and a vague response was given "oh, they aren't there yet?" but no one showed up to drain the pool for days. After it was drained, it took several more days for them to show up to start demolition. In fact, we had to contact them or they would not show up at all! When the demolition crew worked, it was generally only from about 7:30 am until around noon, but with many lengthy breaks. In fact, in the first 2 weeks of working, only about 20 hours were spent working. The demolition of the plaster was done using small jack hammer like devices that use oil (they left it here when they were done for the day). I noticed 3 oil stains on the kool decking, 2 by the entrance steps to the pool about 5 or 6 inches in diameter, and a larger and darker one by the deep end. When this was reported to Paradise, we were assured it would be taken care of when the project was complete. This was after Jorge stopped by to use our garden hose to spray it off with water in an attempt to clean it off. The tile went up next, and these workers were diligent and worked later than noon. After tile was complete, demolition was completed, and the "prep" was supposed to start. However, several more days went by, and after calling to complain, we were assured the Pebble Tec application would start the following day. The prep work wasn't even complete, as there were plaster pieces from the old pool left on the bottom still, the drain was not prepared (had to convert a single drain to 2 per code), and the new spa light wasn't on site. After reminding Jorge of this, he had workers out the next day to complete it. An electrician came to install our new spa light, and when I went out to see it, I found all the light instruction manuals/product warrant info paper work in the bottom of the spa. Not a big problem except there were about 2 inched of dirty water in the bottom and our papers were a soggy mess! We were told the re-plaster would be a one day job and that they would begin refilling the pool/spa the same day, but they finished the pool on Friday and it was filled with water by Saturday morning. The spa was done Saturday afternoon and refilled. We were promised that a start-up guy would be here Saturday to balance the water chemicals and educate us on the care/maintenance of the pebble finish. Again, we had to call because this did not happen. A service person returned our phone call promptly and promised to come out within the hour. Mark balanced the water, gave instructions on care, and when he restarted the pool pump, expressed concern about the main pool drain being clogged. He said he would return during the week with the proper equipment as soon as possible but said his schedule was quite full. Early the next week, people returned to replace the pop-ups and other pieces. Jorge also stopped by, informing us that the drain wasn't clogged, that the pressure difference was due to the 2 drains installed instead of the single one. We then spoke with Mark again, and in a couple days was back. He removed the drain covers and blew air into the drains, forcing out 2 large handfuls of plaster from the demo crew! Needless to say, our pump works perfectly now, just as it did before. Mark was the only professional, punctual, and honest person we dealt with in this company, and we appreciated his hard work immensely. The pool and spa look as nice as I hoped they would, but the oil stains are still out there, and there are minor issues with the grout and caulking. Thankfully, this entire process was documented every evening they were here to do work, and you can clearly see there were no oil stains or plaster stains anywhere to begin with. If you use this company, be prepared for every excuse for why they didn't come as scheduled, including "we're also working on a $65k and $75k job, so that's why we didn't show up"! Be prepared to babysit, as they are not concerned about your investment like you are.
Description of Work: We had Paradise Pools remodel an existing pool and spa. They drained the pool and spa, removed all existing tile and plaster, and re-tiled and applied a Pebble-Tec finish.
