Description of Work: Well I have held off on writing a review for some time but because of constant emails and even phone calls wanting to know the level of service, I am finally taking the time to write. | |This purchase was my first experience with Angie's List. | |I had been wanting to paint the exterior of my house for sometime, so when I saw the Big Deal come through I was excited to see the offer. | |I read the comments from a past user of this companies, and liked what I read about how Sunguard took the time to work with them and help them with the Association rules and walked them through the process step by step. | |I appreciated that testimony because not having any experience on painting of an exterior home, I did feel comfortable that I would be assisted with my process too. | |Therefore I purchased the Big Deal. | |I listed all my details including my contact information and again listed my contact information in the comments section. | |I received a notice later that day from Angies List stating I had a message waiting for me from Sunguard. Upon reviewing the message, it stated that Sunguard wanted to know how to get in touch with me. | |It confused me as I knew I had completed the Request for the Big Deal and even reiterated my contact details in the comments of the Big Deal. | |Therefore, I replied with my phone number AGAIN. | |I then never heard anything until maybe 3-4 business days later whereby the son of the owner contacted me to inquire if his father had ever contacted me. | |I replied that I hadn't received any call, so the son proceeded to set up an appt to come out in a couple of days at a certain time to view the house to make an assessment. | |The day the son was to come out, I had noticed that by the time he stated he was going to arrive for our appt, he had not arrived, so I ended up calling him and discovered he had forgotten about the appt and made an appt with me for the next day to come out. | |The following day, the son did arrive timely and proceeded to review the exterior and tell me that they house was beyond the 2000 sq feet the Big Deal offer was for $1699.00 and would probably cost an additional $500.00. I was fine with that because the Big Deal did make it very well aware that the deal was up to 2000 sq feet. | |I told the son that I had a general idea of what colors I wanted, but would still like some assistance. The son recommended for me to go to a Dunn Edwards store and check out the different colors available. Additionally, the son pointed out that they would paint the side gate of my house as well as replace a couple of boards on the garage door. | |Additionally, we talked about when the job could commence and the son told me that at the time, they were busy but definitely before the end of the month (November) I would have my house painted. That was fine with me as I was not in a hurry especially since I needed to review paint samples. | |The following day, I contacted my Association and inquired what kind of colors or information I needed to know about painting. I was informed that there were particular color schemes but if I wanted something different then already noted, then I would just have to submit a request for approval. | |Therefore, I knew all this and over the next couple of weeks, would go to Dunn Edwards and check out the samples and even bring some home and try out on the house. I was amazed at how the samples looked different on the house than they did on the color swab. | |Therefore, I figured I would just point this out with Sunguard when they contacted me to begin painting. | |Well the end of November came and went and I heard nothing from Sunguard. | |I wasnt too concerned because again, I wasnt in a hurry. I figured I started my Holiday break from work in mid Dec (12/21) so I figured I would just contact Sunguard at that time to discuss further. | |About Dec. 13, I traveled to San Francisco for a vacation with family for the weekend. On Dec. 14 (Saturday) I received a call from the son telling me that he wanted to come out on Monday, Dec 16 to begin power washing. | |I told him that I was traveling and could I call him back when I returned on Monday, Dec. 16. Which he replied was fine. We hung up, but then I realized that I hadnt told him that I had not picked out a color, so I called him back and he told me that it was no concern they could show me some samples. Therefore, I told him I would call him on Monday. | |Well, on Monday, Dec 16, I arrived back in Phx and I had landed no more than 15 mins and I received a call telling me that they wanted to come out on Tuesday, Dec. 17. I told him that was fine and again inquired about the deciding of the colors. He told me no problem he would come out in the afternoon. | |Well on Tuesday, Dec. 17, a crew of guys showed up to start the powerwashing, but they proceeded to tell me that they were going to start taping up the house as well. I told the "lead" that I was not aware of that and was only aware of them doing the power wash. | |Therefore, I called the son and told him that we had not picked out colors yet so why would I want to start taping up the house...he indicated that was fine, he would be out tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec 18 in the afternoon and would only do the power wash. | |Well, the crew did end up taping up part of the house and of all areas taped up the sliding door and doggie door. I had to go and pull it down so the dogs could get in or out OR I could at least open the sliding door to let them out. | |On Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the afternoon, the Son and father showed up to show me some samples, which I appreciated. It was about 3:00 in the afternoon. I noticed that the father said, they were going to paint tomorrow (meaning Thursday, Dec. 19). That was the FIRST time I EVER heard anyone give an actual date when the painting would commence. | |I proceeded to say that well, we dont know if we are going to paint because we dont even know what color we want yet, so it would depend. We proceeded to try out samples on the garage door, and then I brought out the approved color list from the Association and it appeared that the father wanted to focus on the Associate approved colors from there on out because he made note that he has seen it take months sometimes for Associations to approval color schemes and that they were planning on painting the next day. Again, that kind of upset me because it made me feel like "let's just get this over with". | |We did end up agreeing on two color schemes, and we agreed that they would come out the next day. | |The guys did come out on Thursday and proceeded to quickly tape up the house and paint. They were able to complete the painting in one day which I was surprised but glad because the following day, we had been warned that in our city of Phx it would rain. | |They guys that did the painting did a good job; however, I would say, I was a little disappointed that they left stucco all around the house...I am not sure if that was from the power washing or from the removal of paper that covered the windows. Also, the front door bell was left hanging instead of trying to put it back to its original state. Also, I noticed they had not painted the side gate and inquired...The "lead" stated he was not informed to paint that, but would have no problem painting it. | |Therefore, maybe I had more expectations on the service and care based upon the initial revew I had read. | |I am happy with the actual paint job, I am just more unhappy with everything that lead up to the final result. | | | | |
