We do not recommend 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty to others. Each time we have issues it seems 2-10's only goal is to not have to replace the appliances. Just in the last year, here are four examples. One, it took over 3 weeks to get our garage door fixed with this home warranty company. This was after having to call many times to have the work done. In another instance they would not replace our dishwasher even though it was over 10 years old and falling apart. The paint on the inside was peeling off. We literally had to unplug the dishwasher to have it stop running. It became a fire hazard but 2-10 would not replace it. We finally gave up with 2-10 and purchased a new dishwasher on our own. In another instance, our toilets were constantly running. 2-10 sent out two separate plumbers who both determined the toilets need to be replaced. However, 2-10 then sent out a third plumber to repair the toilets and now they still keep running. Fourth, when our washing machine wasn't working it took 2-10 over 6 weeks to properly repair the washing machine. 2-10 kept blaming the service men they sent out for the delays, but the serviceman said they had their hands tied until 2-10 ordered the washing machine parts that were needed for the repair.

I chose the check and received it in less than a week. I had heard negative reports from a friend in the HVAC business on Home warranty companies and was very pleasantly surprised.
Description of Work: Supplemental Mini-split heat pump failed to function. Called 2-10 who responded with immediate service technician. Cost was $75 for service call. Determined parts were not available for unit. Within 10 days I was offered an acceptable replacement unit at no cost to me or a check for $1809.00. I chose the check and received it in less than a week.

We just had nothing but bad experiences with them. So far after we moved in, our inspector suggested that we get the service because it's a 20-year old house. I wouldn't think that thee furnace was in terrible shape or anything. It's a 20-year old furnace and it probably had a minimum. It just needed to be serviced and cleaned. She suggested we do that after we moved in. We did have it serviced and cleaned. They found a hole in one of the major parts that needed to be replaced. 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty: Home Warranty Company multiple times has denied the claims. They said it's pre-existing which is not really true. I would like other Angie's List members to know that they shouldn't choose them because they just refused to pay. They automatically denied the claim and we had to fight for it which was unfortunate. It's not necessarily about the price. It's more about being able to pay for the things that are clearly in their literature. They're terrible to deal with. They're not living to their end of it. It was clearly stated in their literature that heating systems are covered.

They offer you warranty in all of your appliances, fixtures, electrical, air conditioner, water heater, plumbing, and anything that has to do with that is covered with their warranty. They also do public thermostat, washing and dryer, and if you have a pool, they would cover the pool. You will pay a yearly fee and basically if you pay for $45,000 then you can plan in if you have a new breakdown. I've directly dealt with them several times and what I like about it is you can call them anytime of the day or night and you put a service call in, you don't have to worry about it because you could contract somebody out there you don't there but they had people that are certified by them to perform work for them at discounted prices and you'll pay a $50 deductible and that's it. If anything goes wrong, I call them up, I don't have to even call the contractor and they'll deal with it. I never have a complaint with them and there's no problem.
Description of Work: I used 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty about 6 months ago. My spring doors in my garage cracked, they came in and send a contractor out here, replaced it and there's no problem.

This is the third time I have used them in past 3 months. 1st. My septic pump broke, 2nd time my refrigerator was leaking and third time my Heat Furnace was making strange sound. They sent some one to fix it except for Septic, where I had to get some one of my own. They did what the contract said they were going to do. For example: Contract mentioned that max they will pay would be $500 for the septic pump type of issues and they wrote me the cheque for $500, even though It cost me about $1500 to get it fixed, For the other 2 issues all I had to pay was my deductible and they took care of the rest. So far so good, after reading all the other experiencing with other users, it makes me wonder. Btw, Before you get the contract, always read the contract for what they are covering, rather than finding out later that it was not covered.

2-10 Homebuyers warranty company is in the top three of the worst companies I have ever encountered. I am embarassed to have purchased a warranty from them for the buyers of our last home. I can only hope that the new owners of the home will not have occasion to call them because I would feel guilty for having purchased a product from such a poor company. The stereotype of insurance companies that collect money and have a default response of "NO" to any claim is too good for this company. On every single item that we have brought to the attention of this company, their initial response has been to refuse the claim -- sometimes within less than an hour of receiving the claim. How could they even have had time to review it? My experience is that nothing is covered by the warranty, whether it is HVAC, plumbing, or garage door openers, and I suppose anything else we would claim. When pressed, they have agreed to cover some items "as a courtesy". This is unconscionable. If something is covered, it is covered. The policy of refuse first and negotiate later is unacceptable and unethical. This means that only those of us who are determined to hold the company accountable and have the knowledge and the means to press them to uphold their commitments get any benefit at all. I can only imagine how many less determined people than I have been defrauded by this company. Do not use this company. Do not purchase a product from this company even for your worst enemy. I understand this company has an association with Long and Foster realty, and I would strongly urge Long and Foster to discontinue that association. Long and Foster should certainly cease immediately to peddle this appalling product to any homebuyer. To sway clients to purchase a product from 2-10 will undermine any credibility Long and Foster may have with its buyers and sellers, and, in the real estate business, I would suggest that any buyer or seller who is encouraged to purchase a warranty through 2-10 should immediately fire their real estate agent. This company cannot be trusted and consumers deserve better. Make your selection elsewhere if you want to purchase a homebuyers warranty in selling or buying any property.
Description of Work: Unfortunately, the provider would prefer to do nothing other than collect checks.

I renewed my warranty that came with my condo purchase. Currently I've been without A/C for a month while waiting for a competent technician to be dispatched by 2-10. The first one took 2 weeks to contact me and then claimed they didn't work on the type of unit I have. The second one refused to do repairs on roof units but never called me back to tell me that. The third one is currently late and claims he's never worked on a condo unit or a roof unit. I've now missed 8 hours of work waiting for various techs to show up and not fix my A/C. I'm extremely disappointed in my 2-10 warranty (with added HVAC coverage) and I'm not sure it's worth the money for the hassle it's causing me. I'm not sure how they find their contractors but I am unimpressed and still hot in the Georgia summer. UPDATE: Guy #3 had not shown up after waiting for 1.5 hours outside his window and I had to leave home so I cancelled his call. After speaking to some neighbors I found someone who had done work in this building previously. Ellis Heating and Air had a next day appointment available, came within their call window and fixed my problem in under an hour for $400 out of pocket nearly a month after attempting to use the home warranty company. I'm now out the cost of the warranty ($600), the cost of 8 hours of vacation time ($200+), the suffering of living in 85 degree heat with asthma for a month, and finally out the cost of the repair since I finally hired someone on my own ($400). I would not recommend a 2-10 warranty.

We obtained a homeowners warranty through this company when we purchased a new home. When the HVAC unit stopped working they refused to repair. We had owned our new home for 8 days when the HVAC unit (the AC) stopped working. We were very thankful that we had a home warranty and called right away for them to assist. They responded and attempted to send a company out to help with repairs. They agreed to send someone within a few days. 24 hours after filing our claim we discovered that water was leaking through the ceiling directly under where the AC unit was located. Within a few hours our ceiling had caved in. We had been in our new home for 9 days. We called the warranty company and they upgraded the call to "emergency status" and promised that someone would be in our home within 24 hours as we still had water coming down from the attic. No one came. I spoke with them many times over the course of the week but in the end it took them 8 days to have someone come out to look at the AC unit. Meanwhile, it had been over 90 degrees in our home. Finally, a servicing company came and diagnosed the problem. They told us that we needed a new motor and they would call the home warranty company to authorize the needed repairs. Within a few hours this home warranty company called to inform us that our claim was denied in its entirety. Apparently, we had a "pre-existing" condition with our AC unit. Since we had only owned the home for 8 days when the AC failure occurred then the must have been something wrong before we purchased the home.... REALLY????? I'm sorry, but isn't the entire premise of a home warranty to cover your home because you have NO IDEA what may be wrong or how the previous owners maintained their appliances? We had a home inspection and nothing was discovered about the HVAC unit. It seems to me this home warranty company does not stand by what it promises, leaving a new home owner stuck with hundreds or thousands of bills. I thought I was protected by this "insurance". Clearly not. Very very disappointed.

This home warranty was insisted upon by the realtor when I purchased my home a few months ago. At the time I asked if the seller could just give me a check for the cost of a home warranty, and I would sign a waiver accepting the property "as is". That was not possible - I MUST go along with the home warranty contract. The check would have been for $475. Fast forward 3 months to a Friday night - and my air conditioning stops providing cool air. We are in the middle of a heat wave - in central Texas, with temperatures reaching the 100's daily for the past 2 weeks. At this point I had completely forgotten about the home warranty - and I was focused on getting the place cooled again as soon as possible. Saturday morning I called an HVAC contractor from Angie's List, and a technician arrived that day. He evaluated the system, told me the cost for a temporary fix would approch $1,000 (recharge the unit with coolant until one or both leaking coils could be replaced.) Knowing the system was around 10 years old, and also that it was an A/C with only electric elements for heating, I knew that my money would be better spent to replace the system with a much more efficient heat pump - so I handed over a deposit for a new system and scheduled the job for the earliest open slot - almost a week later, on Thursday. Then I remembered the home warranty. So I called 2-10 to register (I had received a card in the mail to register and had not yet done so). Once registered, I asked if I could open a claim and was promptly transferred to the claims department. I explained the situation to the woman I spoke with, and she said that 2-10 would treat it as an "out-of-network" claim, and all I had to do was have the contractor call the toll-free number she gave me before they started any work. I called the contractor, whose office by then had closed, and left a voice message. The following Wednesday, realizing that work would begin the next day, not having heard from either the contractor or the warranty company, I called the contractor - and learned they had not received my message. So I gave the office person the information again, and the phone number. She called back a short while later and told me she could not provide the information that 2-10 was asking for. I then called 2-10 and spoke to a claims person. The claims person told me that when I had called the previous Saturday, the claims person should have opened a claim, but did not (2-10 Claims Department malfeasance - strike one). I asked for specifically what information they would need before the work could begin - and she told me they needed the make, model and serial number of the system. I asked if that would be sufficient, and she said yes, it would. I agreed with the contractor to provide her that information once I got home from work with the understanding that she would make sure she passed the information along to 2-10 early the next morning before the work could begin. The following morning I called the contractor and she had already called 2-10. She informed me that (a now different) 2-10 claim person maintained that they needed much more detail than what had been provided before any work should be done (2-10 Claims dept malfeasance or dishonesty - moving the goal line during the game - strike two). Had I gone ahead with installation before receiving a commitment to pay anything from 2-10, I would never have been paid a penny. As a result of that my installation slot had to be released to someone else who was also waiting for a new system. My installation was rescheduled for Saturday morning. At that point it would be a week of daily highs over a hundred degrees. I called 2-10 and asked to have my claim escalated. This put me on the line with a Customer Care representative. After explaining the situation yet again, I found this person completely unsympathetic. At this point it became a matter of principle for me - I was not going to be snowed by this company. I told this person that since neither I nor my contractor could seem to provide the increasing level of detail that 2-10 was seeking, I requested that they dispatch an in-network company to come evaluate the system. I made it clear to her that I understood that I had no expectation for 2-10 to pay for a replacement system - I just wanted whatever they would normally cover in a situation like this - presumably the cost to keep the current system running. I explained both strikes one and two to her, and asked if she could handle my claim personally, or give me her direct number to try to expedite the situation given the high level of discomfort I would be in until the situation was resolved. She said she would not (she didn't say whether that was a matter of policy for the "Customer Care" department). I was able to get from her the name of the contractor she was calling to evaluate the system and provide the information necessary to 2-10 to fulfill the claim. I had asked for it in order to try to expedite the process due to the looming deadline for installation. (I wrote a separate review of the contractor that 2-10 dispatched, San Marcos A/C - who were absolutely the best - both their office staff Cece, who worked up the formal documents to send to 2-10 and the experienced, professional technician they sent - I believe his name was Ray. They worked quickly and thoroughly to help me even though there was nothing more in it for them but a standard 1-hr service call. Nice to know there are still some real flesh-and-blood humans around!) Once I knew that 2-10 had received the necessary information from San Marcos A/C, I called 2-10 and was directed to the person who was now assigned my claim. He asked me for 20 minutes to discuss the situation with his boss. When he called me back, he wanted to send out yet another company to look at the system - presumably someone who would come back with a lower estimate. At that point I could see that they held all the cards, could change the rules at will, and basically hold out until the claimant hollers "Uncle!" I reminded this gentleman that I was not interested in repairs - I was planning to replace the system regardless of the outcome of my claim. He said he would call me back within 10 minutes. He did, and informed me that 2-10 would send me a check for $1,101. I am betting the odd figure is the result of their trying to make it look as if it were based on some kind of calculation instead of a completely arbitrary figure. In any case, I happen to know that San Marcos, as they are required to do with 2-10, had worked up 3 estimates for 3 different levels of repair, and that the least expensive of these was over $2,600. My system was finally replaced - not on Saturday, but on Monday, as that deadline had also slipped by due to the delay incurred in dealing with 2-10. And a few days after the install, I am surprised to say that the check from 2-10 arrived the following Friday. Some would say that I got what I deserved - maybe even more than I deserved. I couldn't disagree more. Dealing with a company like this that is more adept at stonewalling than they are at responding to their insureds' needs does not come without a price in the form of frustration and stress. Delaying the resolution of a fundamental problem in one's home also comes with a price - in this case, dealing with temperatures to which one is not accustomed. I fully realize just how "spoiled" I have become since I was a kid and air conditioned homes were the exception rather than the norm. Still, in retrospect I would greatly have preferred the bargain I was willing to make with my realtor and the seller of the home I live in - to hand me a check for $475 and forget about the "home warranty" altogether. BUYER BEWARE! When you buy a "home warranty", just know that what you are getting in return is not much. You can judge for yourself whether the associated hassle is worth the money or not.

Realtor encouraged us to get a 2-10 warranty when bought 13 year old home in April. About $450 cost for year contract. Called 2-10 on Monday for first time because hot water heater leaking. Started a claim (all automated); process ended in a claim number and told to wait 24 hours for a provider to call. I waited 24 hours and called 2-10 again on tuesday because no provider had called. Talked to human who said no provider found, so I could go "out of network"-- I find provider; I pay provider and 2-10 reimburses me reserving right to get second opinion if provider I choose high priced (protection for me supposedly). I find provider and notify 2-10 and they tell me the process. My provider diagnosises and calls 2-10 and they will authorize. My provider comes on Wednesday. Diagnosis that 13 year old hot water heater needs replacement because leaking. We call 2-10; my provider talks to 2-10. She says needs to call back because the old HW heater not on her "standards" list so cannot tell us what reimbursement would be. 2-10 calls back 10 minutes later. No authorization. I need to wait for 2-10 provider to come out on Monday or Tuesday or accept $763 for my $1400 claim (if 2-10 reimburses me for $763 in 10 days, hot water heater costs me over $600, 10 times the 2-10, alleged $60 fee). So 2-10 initially cannot provide me a provider, tells me to find out of network provider, but won't authorize my claim for out of network provider (highly rated Angie list provider), wants me to wait for 2-10 underpaid and overscheduled provider to give me a second opinion and/or discounted Hot Water heater, wants me to send my responsive out of network provider away without any payment, and live without hot water for at least another 4 days during the 4th of July holiday. DO NOT BUY 2-10 warranty. Should have stuck with American Home Shield, who was the "devil I knew" from prior home purchases. I followed 2-10 rules and process and was punished. If I had not been offered the out of network provider "option", I might of waited for 2-10 provider but 2-10 could not tell me when its provider might call. If I known the claim process would involve 6 phone calls to 2-10 exceeding a total of over 60 minutes of my time, time spent finding my own provider, and 10 days for underpayment, I would have never bought 2-10. 2-10 does not have providers available probably because 2-10s payment guidelines for professional services are too low. No real benefit. To get $763 was too painful.
Description of Work: 2-10 misrepresented services. Could not provide a service provider timely and then paid only half for my claim for a hot water heater from out of network provider that 2-10 told me to go find. outrageous.

2-10 assigned a contractor whose ratings were fair, which raised some concern for us. When I called to ask them if it was possible to chose another contractor, they said that they don't let clients have a choice anymore. After that we contacted the contractor to schedule an appointment only to find out that "all claims for 2-10 are placed on hold while they take care of emergency services for other companies" and that it would take at least 10 days. After that I called back 2-10 to let them know and see if they could do something to speed up the process as we have a 2 month old baby and having no AC for 10 days is a real issue. The representative was very nice and talked to her supervisor only to let me know that they could not do anything as their protocol for emergencies is >95F. As she was telling me this through my screaming baby's cries she was really sorry and at a loss that she could not help me. After 5 days without AC, as we had no call from the contractor I called them again only to hear that claims from 2-10 were on hold for at least 2 more weeks (!!!!!) So in summary, we payed over 600 USD/year for 2-10 and would have had to pay 100 USD deductible to have our AC fixed after almost a month-long wait by a fairly-rated contractor (C rating) during summer in Atlanta with a 2 month old baby. We cancelled the claim and called Christian Brothers Mechanicals (A rated at Angies) who offered a free service call and repair for Angie's list customers. They were able to give me an appointment for the following day (!!!!). I wish I had done that to begin with. If their service is good, I will go with them for a yearly maintenance contract. Needless to say, we are not going to renew our policy with 2-10.

They replaced the furnace with the bottom of the line brand. At the time, I did not know any better. This company uses the worst contractors in the market. The contractor who preformed the work from their network did more damage than good. I had the warranty company send another contractor to fix the mess. Lesson learned is to have them offer you a buy out and hire your own contractor to provide the repairs. Although, the buy-out will not cover the entire cost, I think it is better to have a reputable contractor install your HVAC without the headaches and worry of bad installation.

I used them twice. The first time for my air conditioner, the service people they sent were not competent and I ended up calling another company and paying them. The second time I had an emergency plumbing problem on a Saturday evening. The rep I spoke with said she had no one to send over the weekend and to prevent further damage I could try to find someone myself and send the receipt. When I sent the receipt, they claimed they had contracted with a plumber to come out Monday and denied my claim. I think a person is better off hiring their own pick of a service person and paying the bill than putting money into one of these warranties.

I have contacted this company twice within the last 6 weeks. Both issues were for air conditioning problems. The first situation was for a zone control issue on our main unit. We had called an HVAC company on our own because our unit was not cooling properly. I had actually forgotten we had the coverage, so that is why I did not call them first. The company we called came out that same day and added Freon, which is what was needed, and also discovered, after I questioned him about the zoning of the unit not working properly, that there was not the necessary components needed for the zoning system to operate correctly. It was going to cost approx. $1500.00 to fix. We decided to hold off. After this I remembered that we had the warranty, so I called them. They sent someone out from one of their approved companies. I had already told them what the problem was because I had already had everything fixed and diagnosed from the previous company (which I had paid for). Their guy came out, looked at the detailed receipt from the previous company, went and looked at the unit, and said, yep, that's what needs to be done. For this, I had to pay $50.00. Then I find out the warranty company excludes a/c zone control systems in what they cover. When I requested that I get my $50.00 back because had someone told me when I called that this would not be covered in the first place, I would not have needed anyone to come out a second time. They refused to reimburse me. Now I call today, because our unit is not cooling again. Obviously it is leaking Freon, which probably means we will need to either replace the coil or replace the unit, even though the house is only 8 1/2 years old. I put in a call last night when we discovered the house was getting very warm and they submitted the claim. I call the a/c company they contract with this morning to find out when they can come out to look at the unit, and they are telling me their next available appt. is next Wednesday, 1 week from today. When I call the warranty company back to complain that I am not waiting a week to have someone look at my unit, they tell me that since we still have one unit that is working ( the upstairs unit), they don't deem it an emergency, and I will have to wait. I have called back the a/c company I had out the first time 1 month ago, and they are coming out this afternoon. I will probably have to pay for most of the repair out of our own pocket, but I know from now on, it's better to self insure for these kinds of issues than to pay your hard earned money to a company that provides TERRIBLE customer service. I will be letting our real estate agent know about this company as well, as she is the one who gave us their brochure. BUYER BEWARE with these types of companies.

As a property management company, we have more than 20 homes that we purchased warranties for. Seems 90% of any claims we've had are DENIED, DENIED, DENIED. It doesn't seem that they want to pay for ANYTHING that goes wrong! To add insult to injury, they have dispatched TWO different contractors to 2 different properties and neither one of the companies technicians showed up properly equipped or even have TOOLS to handle the job. One of the plumbers showed up with NO tools and told the tenant that the toilet needed to be replaced. We called in Mr. Plumber - ON OUR OWN DIME - and what do you know - he snaked the obstruction out of the pipes and all was well. But only AFTER 2 miserable service calls dispatched by 2-10 that couldn't do anything!!! Save your money and find ANOTHER home warranty company. There are plenty out there that WILL work with their customers. Too bad this isn't one of them.
Description of Work: *plumbing - clogged toilets *HVAC system - fan motor needs replaced *broken refrigerator door *broken garage door

I purchased a home warranty from 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty of Virginia, INC upon closing on the house in December of 2010. The house was built in the eighties and was at the beach, so wanted to make sure we were covered in case anything big came up. The two air conditioners were a bit old, so we made sure buy extra coverage for the HVAC system. The following July, while we had renters in the house, both air conditioners died at the same time. We found a great A/C service company on Angie's list - Advantage Heating and Cooling, and they were great. They have a policy of not working with home warranty companies (telling), but agreed to try just to help us out. They gave us an estimate to replace both units and we called the home warranty company. 2-10 received the assessment from Advantage, and then informed us that they would only work with their contractor, who had to do their own assessment. They gave me the name of the contractor, who I promptly ran through angie's list and found to my disappointment that they had about thirty reports which were unanimously bad. The company came out a couple of days later and assessed the unit, and reported that they could fix the problem by refilling the coolant and replacing a part. Advantage told us that they could do the same thing, but advised that the units were in pretty bad condition and we predicted that if we continued to patch them together piecemeal, the old units would fail with increasing frequency - not a satisfactory condition with vacationers in the house. We went back and forth with 2-10 on this...we asked their contractor for their assessment of the condition of the HVAC units and they insisted upon temporary fixes; not acceptable with vacation renters in the house who would have to allow the contractors in and out during the day rather than enjoying their vacation. 2-10 refused to budge and we ended up paying out of pocket for two new air conditioning units. I freely admit that when I saw the units before we purchased the house, I thought they might fail, and that is the reason I purchased the HVAC coverage from 2-10. However, I feel that they failed to hold up their end of the deal. I believe that their business model takes this kind of situation into account. It stands to reason that their business strategy would be to minimize costs after they collect the initial premium from the purchaser, and minimizing cost to them has the effect on maximizing cost to the homeowner in the event of a claim, if not in dollars than in frustration, time, and inconvenience. They refused to fix the problem, insisting on a chewing gum and baling wire approach to repair, and we could not afford to keep working with their substandard contractor week after week with vacationers complaining about a broken air conditioner during their August vacation, so we just took the hit. Ultimately, 2-10's business model proved successful and they won. The took our 500 bucks, and we paid out of pocket to complete a repair that was covered under the policy they purchased from them. My ultimate advice to anyone thinking of purchasing a home warranty from this company is...don't. This is exactly the kind of "promise and then fail to deliver" type provider that is good for making deals go through when working with naive and unexperienced people, which 2-10 preys upon.

I would rate them overall a B. I would use them again if I had to.
Description of Work: We used 2-10 Home Warranty over a year ago. It was bought for us when we bought the house. There is a $100 deductible for each service and we probably used it four times. We didn't go with them when we renewed because the renewal price was so high.

I have good success with them. Once you contact the warranty company they quickly give you a name of a specialist in your area. Either you can contact the specialist or they can. I just pay the $50 fee to the specialist & its all set!

2/10 has sent various repair people to us for various repairs. We have always (with one exception) been satisfied. When I complained about the one company, they thanked me and didn't recommend them again.
Description of Work: We have had 2/10 warranty company for several years. They have always come through with good repair people, quickly. The yearly fee is expensive, but after that, all housecalls are $50. We have a new dishwasher (cost us $50) and a new garbage disposal ($50). I feel that we have always come out ahead, every year.

This home warranty company is the worst. I did not know about Angie's List at the time I signed up; I wish I did. My first year, I had little problems. They didn't cover much, but at least I understood why. I signed up again and what a mistake. My experience so far is that they are good about setting up a claim, but they are not good about coverage. Mostly recently, my boiler went out over a cold weekend. I called to get service. The warranty company set up service but did not authorize overtime so that the work could be done over the weekend. When I inquired why I would not get overtime covered, the warranty company told me it wasn't an emergency. When I asked why it wasn't an emergency (my house register was showing 60 degrees), they told me that they were not permitted to discuss why I did not qualify for an emergency. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I never spoke to or received a message from a company supervisor. Who can trust a company that says you are not covered but can not tell you why.
Description of Work: Replacing the sensor on the boiler.

I was boiling milk on the cook top, it overflowed and the cook top stopped working. I called and asked if that is covered under the warranty (since I didn't have any reference to look up). The rep said that it is, and gave me a number for a local electrician. He found that one of the burners had shorted and restored power to the other 3 burners. He said that he needs a part to fix it and that he will call me when he gets the part. Shortly after he left, we turned another burner on and it fried the whole unit. The next day I got a call from 2-10 that the damage is not covered, since I caused it. I argued that cook tops should be spill proof and if there is a damage caused by spillage, it is an accident, and they should cover it. They insisted that since I caused it it is not covered. And if I don't use anything in the house, nothing will ever break. I paid $90 for a service call that basically completely destroyed the unit and I had to purchase a brand new one out of pocket.
Description of Work: The service is home warranty. I had to use them once and was extremely unhappy with the service. Basically, as soon as the warranty was purchased we didn't hear from that at all, there was no warranty card or any additional information on exclusions and limitations; we didn't receive a customer number or anything like that. Amazingly enough, now that my warranty is about the expire, they managed to send me 2 notices in the span of 2 weeks, asking me to renew. This is a complete waste of money, because they don't tell you if the problem is covered or not, you pay the service fee and then, most likely than not, it is not covered and you are out of $90 service charge on top of the warranty. Better save the $450 for emergency repairs if you need them.
